Which is the better game?
Chrono Trigger / Final Fantasy 7
I honestly don't really get the immense love for Chrono Trigger. I guess the time travel mechanic and the battle system were neat for its time but it didn't blow my mind. Not to say that FF7 blew my mind either, but I found myself becoming more enamoured with the world building and I felt a stronger connection to the cast overall in that game.
Yeah, when I played CT, I thought it was fucking great, but FF7 2 years later had my jaw on the floor the entire time. The themes were also much more mature with I loved at 15 (1997).
7 edges CT out in terms of fucking EVERYTHING it has to offer. People wonder why the remake can't be one fucking game if done without cutting a single thing.
fuck you woolie it's FF7
>they think a discount Ultima spell is better than fucking Omnislash
FF VI
I voted Chrono Trigger because FF fans are more annoying.
This sounds like an irritating podcast segment, how’d it go?
that wasn't the question you faggot
The Luminaire pick is the only thing that annoyed me. Everything else was okay.
but it´s the better game
This
Most FFVI praise is just backlash over VII’s popularity. No one would talk about VI if VII wasn’t a hit.
cope
Chrononibber was made by some of the legends of gaming before square became a shit shovelware company you retarded millennial
you cope with the fucking truth
left is some stupid weeb anime shit and right is Final Fantasy 7.
that pisssd me off
>hurr durr he's goku
shut the fuck up
savage
CT
seething
I bet you are.
neither
>better music
>beter graphics
>better writing
>better paced
>flashier gameplay
>less braindead gameplay
>tons of replayability
>simple story with no plotholes
>holds up today perfectly
>didnt have a popular franchis eattatched to its name
How is this even a contest?
rent free
FF7 = CT > FF6
Dab on FF6 fans.
True, this goes to FF7
>50/50
bros..
Its honestly shocking how well Chrono Trigger still holds up
Think CT is the superior game but I like VII more. Conflicted what I should vote now.
ff vi is the most overrated game in history and astoundingly mediocre
Everyone who voted FFVII is racist, ableist and a necro-zoomer.
Despite the poll being tied ff-fags are certainly much more annoying in this thread,
>>didn't have a popular franchise attached to its name
lol no FF was trash before VII
Chrono Trigger is more fun and deserves a remake more than 7.
I just wish Crono was a character and not just a silent protag.
I agree, FF7 wins.
They're both amazing games. I reckon the next huge remake money cow for 7 would be CT. No content. They've been shutting down CT remake projects for 20 odd years.
Final Fantasy wasn't that popular before 7 at all
Meanwhile Chrono Trigger (and Dragon Quest) was attached to Dragon Ball thanks to its artwork
Chrono Cross>FF7>Chrono Trigger
IS A FACT!
Deal with it autistic nostalgiafags
>Crossfags
The gas chamber is down the hall and to the right.
No nostalgia here, I played both three years ago and I enjoyed Chrono Trigger much more.
The gameplay is more fun, graphics aged decently (unlike FFVII) and I liked the general atmosphere much more. FF tried harder with the story and I can get why it was perceived as mindblowing at the time, but it's just not that great now.
I'd probably like a enjoy a good FFVII remake more than a CT one, but I still wish they remade Chrono Trigger instead
CT is obviously the answer, it's probably the best jrpg ever made in term of music, art and story.
gotta agree with this I don't get the replayability meme as I replay each every 2-3 years
Chrono Trigger, easily. FF7 is a great game, and is arguably more atmospheric and tells its story more cinematically, (honestly, they both tell the same damn story, like 99% of JRPGs), but Chrono Trigger just has zero flaws, whereas FF7 has a ton of parts that are boring, sluggish, or pointless, and the plot is kind of a clusterfuck at many times. The battle system is more complex, but also more broken as a result. The pacing is horrendous, too. Chrono Trigger is tight and bright, while FF7 can't get out of its own way, especially early on. Even once you get out on the world map for the first time, it feels like you never really "take off", because you get bogged right back down into the Kalm flashbacks and then Junon holds you down and rapes you with even more minigames and cutscenes. Meanwhile, Chrono Trigger feels like the adventure is underway as soon as shit goes awry with the teleporter.
Again, not saying FF7 is shit, I love them both, but Chrono Trigger is a much more pleasant experience, especially when you're replaying it.
It's one of those games I expect to find some kind of problem with every time I go back to replay it, but I never do. It's so hard to put the controller down.
This, too. While FF7 has great music, too, and the pre-rendered backgrounds are still wonderful today, CT was the product of the SNES firing flawlessly on all cylinders, while FF7's graphics were a bit more expirimental and iffy in places. It's a case where the game aimed higher in a lot of aspects, but missed the mark.
Terranigma
woolie and pat argue for like 20 minutes as it becomes more and more clear woolie hasn't played even halfway through either of these games and gets very upset and pat doubles down on acting like an insane person
