People honestly have trouble with the Temple of Trials

>people honestly have trouble with the Temple of Trials
is this the best pleb filter ever? I mean you can just run past all the enemies, and the ants die in like one hit
Only way you can get fucked here is if your charecter build is an absolute disaster

Policenauts

I had trouble opening the door, quit many a play through cause I just couldn't figure out how to open a fucking door.

The same people having trouble never played a crpg in their life

Fallout 2

>pleb filter
First door is locked, so you use lockpick
Second door is sealed but you find some explosive nearby you use to blast it open

Do people really skip Fallout 1?

When I was a wee boy and I did the temple of trials my character didn't have melee or unarmed tagged (but did have 10 AG), I tried using the spear when using unarmed would've been much better in that situation. I think many people who do the temple the first time experience the same thing. Punching is like, 20% more likely to hit in that situation and costs less ap

When I was 7 I managed to get through without issue
I had more problems with the unpatched vanilla version being buggy shit

Idk why, its barely different mechanically from 2 and its a short game anyway
I think people just like the “freedom” and bigger world in 2 though

figuring out how to open the door was the hardest part of the game, after I figured it out I pretty much steam rolled my way through this easy game.

In the old days they used the manual to teach you the buttons, no manual if you pirate this shit

also underrail>fallshit

H2H scales with both STG and AGI so with high agility your unarmed should start at like 45 or 50

These threads were being made 8 years ago when only Boomers were on Yea Forums and couldn't get through the tutorial, I can only imagine how shit Zoomers are at Fallout 2.

It isn't bad in of itself, it's just a pain to get through every new character, and it shits on anyone that doesn't do a very specific build(Unarmed or Melee) starting out. No Guns, no use for Social Stats(Except at the very end, to skip one piss-easy fight), just overall a really poor representation of the rest of the game, and an awful note to start on.

I legitimatly don't understand how anyone could have trouble with it... all the ants died to a couple of kicks, and you can just talk your way out of the final fight

If you didn't tag speech you cant talk your way out

But you still have your first aid and doctor skills to heal, and you can always steal the key if you hate a fight

I usually sprint through honestly and am out in under 3 minutes
I liked the tutorial zone of NV better since Goodsprings offered a nice comfy intro to the game

Gecko skinning is nice for some easy cash, but I hate that by the time you usually clear out the caves you're often moved beyond the part of the game with lots of golden geckos

Still I like to RP a trapper and use my skins as currency

yeah you can, it's probability based so just try again if you fail

i wish gecko skinning was a catchall skinning trait so it wouldn't be useless after the early game

>why yes I did pass the Vault City Citizenship test on my first try, how could you tell?

Golden geckos are still worth quite a bit of money and if you farm around Klamath you can easily make a few thousand just on skins alone from encounters
Easy way to make money if you haven't invested in Gambling

Vault City prevails Citizen.

The fact that you are a nigger like the president gave it away

Thats FIRST CITIZEN to you slave

Joanne did NOTHING wrong

>fuck muties
>fuck the NCR

And she gets fucked by Westin after nursing him back to health

joanne and tandi sound alike, they're voiced by the same person right

Yeah, I don't get why this was memed so much. It came across as an unneeded tutorial, and nothing more for me. Maybe it was harsh for crap or bizarro builds?

>he didn't get the Vault City Uber Alies ending where it takes over the entire North-East of california

Even the most meme tier builds can at least run past the ants
Side corridors can easily be ignored unless you want antivenom and healing powder

Why do you make this thread every day? OCD?

>tfw Mordino made man, slaver, drug dealer, jet addict, pornstar, sex god, childkiller, graverobber, murderer, paedophile, gigolo, psychopath, gentleman thief and professional gambler

You're an unneeded tutorial

When people think of playing Fallout 1 and 2:
>2 looks 'newer' than 1
>1 is said to have some bugs that were left unfixed
>1 has a time limit
>1 is said to be shorter

So really, unless they really want to play through all the games, they just skip 1

2 does have a better UI and MUCH better combat
also people generally enjoy the more lighthearted nature of 2 over the grimness of 1
though 1 IS the better game overall.

I think the time limit is what turns people off 1 mostly but its so long anyway especially if you do all the quests that extend it.

I think it is more that SOME PEOPLE might have issue with the UI due coming into it with a "modern" (Read: QoL Spoiled) mindset, with poor grasp of a UI even easy tasks can seem hard.

the Fallout 2 UI is one of the best of all the classic 90s era CRPGs
the real annoying thing is the mouse controls where it took me forever to figure out how to push NPCs out from doorways

I don't think the argument is that it's hard, it's that it completely sucks. Just like the ending. Don't game a game so focused on choice and shoehorn you into playing a certain way.

Fallout 2 is great but it has some big flaws that keep it from being as amazing as the first

why do people constantly rank Fallout > Fallout 2? theres barely any shit to do in Fallout outside the water chip quest, the companions and the UI for them fucking sucked, and the game world was empty as hell and short

It being so concise and focused is why I prefer it. Fallout 2 is the polar opposite, more more more but not necessarily better. Fallout 1 is refreshing especially in an age where everything is bloated and open world.

They really shouldn't. I consider Fallout 2 to be at the level of a spinoff. The writing is garbage and the story adds nothing to the Fallout universe or canon. The cringey humor and non stop pop culture references were a poor substitute for Fallout 1's writing and atmosphere.

1>NV>Tactics>4>2=3>BoS

Fallout 1.5 is as good as Tactics but its a fan mod, albeit an absolutely excellent total conversion mod. If you have good taste in Fallout games I recommend ATOM RPG, UnderRail and Age of Decadence also.

quality > quantity

personally I liked Fallout 2 better because even though its a mess its a really fun mess and has some of the best location/characters in the series, and a lot more player freedom
people who hate Fo2 just hate fun

Im gonna play fallout 1 for the first time, Never touched the series before. Dont know what kind of build i'll go, what stats or skills should i prioritize and which should i avoid?

for a first game?
just go the standard Guns-Lockpick-Speech and move into Energy Wep's later

desu I've only ever played Fo1 once so idk many meme builds as I do in Fo2.

it's just boring honestly

Small guns is always the best combat skill. They're cheap, plentiful, plentiful ammo, low AP cost, decent to high tier damage, light, good ammo efficiency etc etc. Small guns best guns. All other combat skills are shit by comparison.

For traits take either skilled+gifted or gifted+one hander since the best gun in FO1 is a one hander. Good natured is a good trait too. Gives a lot of nice bonus skills.

Dump stats are luck and cha, obviously.

If you want a specific build for 1 or 2 this guy's videos are very good.
youtube.com/watch?v=baYoAaimeA8

>dumping luck
never go below 4 luck unless you want to be breaking your limbs every time you fire a bullet
between 4-6 luck you don't see much difference
but at the extremes you get some big effects.

this is patently untrue. high luck gives you more basic crits and more weird encounters but low luck does absolutely nothing that having high skills doesnt completely negate. have +120% small guns skill and always shoot for the eyes at least once per round and you'll see that luck is an absolutely pointless dump stat in Fallout unless you really want to see the random wacky encounters

no one has trouble with the temple, it's just tedious and annoying, especially if you want to get all that free xp

>not assassinating the heads of all four families and leaving Reno to crumble away

Attached: Fo2_Reno_Bad_Ending.png (640x480, 222K)

i hated that place until i figured out the rubber boots.
mordino, i've only once been anything else and it was that family on the east side of town iirc bishop perhaps?
i was just a mordino mademan and an all around slut+pornstar. how did you get paedophile anyways?
>inb4 fucking kids

Mordinos in the Desperado Casino
Bishops in the Shark Club
Salvatores in their bar
and Wrights in their mansion to the north/west
I usually go Bishops honestly to protect my progeny

Salvatores are good as well but you have to be very careful with what you say to Louis or he will shit a brick on you

Why hasn't any fallout game since 2 not let you be a slaver, rapist or all around asshole?

I just wish joining the Enclave was an option, I mean you COULD join the Master in 1

Attached: fallout_2_fan_art___cold_encouters_by_cryinghorn-d4z8ccz.jpg (1600x914, 275K)

no, mods dont count

there are the Paradise Falls slavers in 3 but they are pretty lame
I wish you could actually take slaves yourself rather than watch the NPCs do it on the slave runs
would be fun if there was a mega evil ending where you enslaved Arroyo

Enclave redemption arc set in Chicago is my dream game.
Because that limits wider appeal and doesn't fit with the theme park thing they have going on.

>impregnating both Mrs. Bishop and Ms. Bishop
mm

>joins enclave
>horrigan calls you a mutie and blows your torso to pieces

if only obsidian had a little more time on NV to make caesars legion an actual faction

My sons will fight for dominance
also the idea of knocking up both a mother and daughter at the same time and both of them giving birth to my kids is really hot ngl

Legion are the good guys though

Attached: 1468481405438.png (1500x2251, 2.86M)

did i ever say being a rapist or a slaver was a bad thing?

>not impregnating both bishop's wife and daughter

I thought my Fallout 1 run was going good until I got to Mariposa. Holy shit, there goes that playthrough

yea Fo1 is pretty brutal and unlike 2 you don't have many options to grind and work around your flaws

I guess you can hope for the alien blaster, but with low luck you'll be waiting a long time

I'm playing on zoomer difficulty too. I used the gambling exploit and grinded xp on the deathclaw quest for the gunrunners and still got my shit pushed in

I guess I had trouble when I played Fallout 2 for the first time as a 13 year old, but in hindsight it's just kind of annoying.

ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM

the game that's all about nuclear technology but you play as a spear chucking retard for some reason

Fallout 2 was one of my first PC games ever and I was a 10yo eslfag.
Was stuck at the locked door for maybe a few days without a manual before discovering keybindings/help screen. Never had any problems with other trials, be it combat, sneaking, running away, disarming traps and/or talking my way through.

>Brotherhood has lost the plot so badly that everyone's rooting for the Enclave by the time they meet again

I like that you go from tribal OOGA BOOGA to power armored angel of death, but the pacing could be better in the early game

it'll always be my favorite for the sheer fact that it has a car

sound and art direction were on point too
youtube.com/watch?v=3jxn1sqAQ-c

I always liked the grandpa enclave crew in FNV
would have been better if they expanded them into some big "old boys club" of decrepit former Enclave personnel with some more quests.

whats the point of the BoS in Fallout 2 anyway?
