Gameplay-wise Conker has never been stellar. It also suffers from the same problems as almost every early 3D console game: Camera, aiming and movement.

What makes the game memorable are the constantly chaning scenarios and its unique sense of humor(although it is arguably hit or miss).

Conker isn't really a platformer, though. It defies simple genre classification.

It is a 3D platformer, core gameplay is jumping on shit. It would be like saying Spyro 3 and Crash 3 aren't platformers because half of them is mini games, it was simply where the genre was headed.

It aged just perfectly, just like Daria it is a product of its time and gets more interesting BECAUSE it aged, especially when you learn the story of WHY it is edgy (Dev team got burned on the criticism of their first Conker game being "too cute and childish" by Game Journos and basically went "I'LL SHOW THEM ALL")

Still linear and cutscene heavy as fuck though, a equivalent released to day would have Yea Forums go "WALKING SIM: EDGY EDITION!" while howling about how it is Furry shit.

Conker's Bad Fur Day is absolute Reddit. 90's kids can like it because it was an edgy 3D platformer, whatever, but zoomers hailing it as the funniest game ever need to shut up. It's painfully annoying and I'm glad Rare were never allowed to make more.
