If you're on EU or plan on playing on EU start over on Spriggan (chaos) or Twintania (Light) double exp, a million gil and some other rewards if it's a new char. Double exp is a huge deal. You also get 15 days free gametime alongside the million gil at level 30 if it's a new character. Transferring there will be free too and it seems to use the datacentre split model in terms of incentive so you can potentially get pretty beefy rewards even then. Last PSA but, hopefully this'll help some Yea Forumsro out. Enjoy.

Basically. The new additions are all kind of half baked and the job's lost what synergy it had post 4.0 to go back to ARR/HW MNK levels of boring, but now with older viable tools replaced with newer ones that are good in theory, terrible in execution.

It's in a weird spot. The highly technical stuff like the tornado kick rotation was removed, which I dont think anyone was expecting it to stay, but they put in a spot where current theorycrafting says the optimal way to play is to use ACT callounts to line up serverticks with Anatman in your opener for instant GL, though even without precise timing you at least 3% DPS increase instead of 5%. Meanwhile, the rest of the job has been simplied, lost a lot of oGCDs, but now has so many bloated ways to maintain stacks of GL.

It doesnt have an identity and doesn't have a direction it wants to go in at the moment. It might change with 5.x patches, but that remains to be seen. On the bright side, it's good for progging due to how simple it is plus mantra.

Go into palace of the dead and try it out to 60 in there.

Not really no. the game isn't deader than dead on EU unless you want pvp or something else that normalfags don't do at odd hours. I lost out on my weekly frontline log despite waiting hours on end. Too few people and most people work/do things since as said, normalfags. You only get screwed if you're trying to do content on neet hours. Anyway we have gotten players again since the split but it's more like "we recovered" than needing new worlds. We're not dead though if you just play the game normally.

About the biggest zone lore-wise is the Steppe and that still omits a huge section east of that canyon, which is presumably much larger since that's where the Xaela tribes said to be majority of the population are. Most other zones are just a small representative section of their local area.

You can port yourself and the stuff you're carrying but merchants and traders can't take their entire carts and wares with them so they still require the old method of transport.

If Branched Jobs were a thing and they weren't held back by the stupid weapon locked to class I'd have expected DRK to branced from GLA and Beastmaster could have been from PGL mainly because of the animal forms of opo-opo, raptor, coeurl and that one PGL Lalafell who was friends with the animals in the quest.

Giving the base classes flavored names was a mistake in hindsight. In Japanese they are literally just "axe user", "sword user", etc and this makes their half-baked nature and the upgrade to full jobs quite clear.

A lot of those mounts were never able to fly when Heavensward came out, including ones that took a ton of effort to get like Fenrir and such (piece of cake now). It's only recently they've been going back and giving those mounts the ability to fly.

When/if Yoshi leaves (though he said he would keep working on xiv unless he died... which i hope he doesn't) I would unironically consider quitting. Yoshida's job title is Producer and he has been extremely successful in increasing the profitability of XIV to the point of being promoted to S-E's board for it. Use your head.

It's no secret that Yoshi is a spreadsheet autist manager that micromanages EVERYTHING on his spreadsheets.
FFXIV has is so stiffly rigidly structured because its everything his management style is.
Him leaving will either turn the team into a directionless complete mess, or allow them to have some actual freedom and make some interesting out of the box content.
FFXIV will always be an 8/10 game because Yoshi-P doesn't allow for any risks in his micromanagement management style. He's perfect for avoiding a failure, but he's also not going to make a 10/10.

I love Yoshi, and I've been playing since launch because I think he knows a decent amount as to what he's doing. But I do wish he'd try to focus sometimes. FF14 is slowly becoming this ridiculous game where everyone has a lot to do, but god has it been awful getting to that point.

Raiders only having 4 bosses (half of which were typically shit easy ones to make casuals feel good) for half a year was stupid. Crafters only having real shit to do for like the first couple weeks of a patch. Housing is still pretty bland but it gets one/two nice big thing per expansion that isn't just decorations.
