Can't wall jump up a single wall

>Can't wall jump up a single wall
Trash
Super and Zero Mission are the only real Metroid games

Zero Mission sucked, Metroid, Metroid II, and Super are the best. I hope Metroid 5 takes mostly from Metroid and Super Metroid while taking the Metrodi evolutions from Metroid II.

can't wall jump in Metroid 1 and 2, shit games

I reported AM2R to Nintendo. Ask me anything.

Who gives a shit lol
Can't take down torrents and other people have updated the game

How shit are you? I could swear I was walljumpin' all over the damn place!

Shut your zoomer ass up Zero Mission was linear, gated progression with Chozo Statues, unknown abilities blocks, and a stupid stealth section, short as fuck, terrible boss fights, Normal Difficulty is pathetically easy, ruins the music, art, and atmosphere of the original game, second half adds nothing, is basically a half-assed Super Metroid, saves all the exploration till the end of the game, and the unknown abilities are the same abilities you have in Super Metroid and beyond.

You can't scale a wall by itself though

AM2R is unironically one of the best metroid games ever made, and I recommend it to any fan of the 2D metroids

Technically you can wit h spiderball IIRC.

Only real Metroid is pic related.

Not so fast

Oddly enough I liked Fusion a lot even though t was also pretty linear and gated. I think the game just had a lot more soul in it

>Zero Mission was linear,
Only Super was less linear
> gated progression with Chozo Statues
you can skip all except one
>unknown abilities blocks
legit criticism but my romhack fixes this
> a stupid stealth section
actually has fantastic level design

I disagree outside of the spooky sections and Nightmare's design, with how ridiculously left-field and memorable it is.

Otherwise, you know Super's alien world wasn't even that great. So to take those rote environments and redo them but with a constant industrial sci-fi ship theme, is like intentionally recreating an okay statue out of sludge and cement. And Super at least had the spooky ghost ship.

Agreed, I like Fusion better even though I like the first three Metroid games more than Fusion.

>Only Super was less linear
Metroid NES is the most nonlinear game in the series
>you can skip all except one
They should have given you an option to not use them all
>legit criticism but my romhack fixes this
It's in the official game though
>actually has fantastic level design
You're on crack.

Metroid NES has such a terrible map that nonlinearity counts for nought. It's a straight up bad game.
Getting mad over only having to use one in the whole game is autistic as fuck. It's like a 10 second cutscene and then you never have to worry about it again.
You're either ignorant or in denial, the stealth section is full of skillful shortcuts that make replaying it more of a challenge than nearly anything else in the whole game.

Wait a minute fellas

The old bad Metroid games are Federation Force and Other M. You can all fuck off.

You just suck at the game, you god damn zoomer. The stealth section was shit and dragged the entire game down. There's a reason Zero Mission is the only 2D game that has it and it hasn't been back since. People want to play Samus in her suit.

ZMM stealth was kino you were probably just a shitter who tripped the first alarm

I'm about to play the most up to date version of the game that's still readily available. Are you upset?

There's a reason they weren't even mentioned in the thread. Generally the idea is to raise the bar, not lower it so far that anything mediocre can get over it.

>You suck at the game, that's why you like the part which takes the most skill
maximum retard

Maybe if you zoomer didn't start the series late you would actually know how to play a fucking Metroid game, you suck at Metroid and can't get good at it, also, stealth segment was crap, rushed, and broke the pacing of the game.

stay mad shitter, I'll stay here enjoying the only part of the game which rewards mastering the single wall jump

Why are everyone shouting zoomer and why would anyone take it as an offense?

You do that while I'll keep enjoying the original NES game.

this is what I hate about modern 2D metroids. Mobility is one of the things I liked about 2D over the prime games, and it gets shittier with each game

It's about the same as other games only instead of speed booster you get the ability to slow down time.

>LE ZOOMER I AM BOOMER
You fail to make any actual argument, only "I hate it because it sucks!" Come back with a real argument or leave

>and it gets shittier with each game
The last 2D metroid before SR was ZM, a game most fans agree had great mobility only outdone by Super. Wtf is wrong with you

Unironically great. If only it had a few more tables.

Would love a modern HD sequel

>No Speed Booster
>No Shinesparks
>Plasma Beam makes a generic pew-pew laser sound
>Wave Beam isn't wide, ditched the amazing waveform pattern for a twirly bolt
>Charge Beam sounds like shit
>Screw Attack sounds like shit
>Screw Attack nerfed, no invincibility and some regular enemies RESIST IT
>Seriously wft
>Space Jump doesn't spin fast anymore, no new sound effect
>Artificial roadblocks everywhere, game has anti-bomb fans and anti-Spider Ball and wall jump surfaces
>Game commits the same sins against the Metroid formula as Zero Mission, completely kills emergent sequence breaking that was in Super.

Did a lot of things right, but so many things wrong.

you didn't forget about me.. right?

>>Screw Attack nerfed, no invincibility and some regular enemies RESIST IT
This, such horseshit. You could oneshot any normal enemy in the other 2D games, why'd they have to go and botch it here?

the music is crystal clear but the sounds are like shit
is it because of the 3ds?

Super nearly ruined the entire Metroid-like genre, Symphony of the Night partly deconstructed Super (Iga is in no position to speak for the co-director who was his equal in rank on the game), Axiom Verge pushed that deconstruction to its end and bitchslapped Super into oblivion it belongs to.

It honestly feels like the "attack" part was an afterthought. When you actually get it, it's "hey, now I can break all of those Screw Attack blocks and access new areas!"

They turned it into a fucking key.

What annoys me is that wall jumping was clearly meant to be a skill based mechanic that you get good with by your second time through the game and allows you to break the sequence in various way, and incetivizes looking for more ways to sequence-break in future playthroughs.
Somehow Mercury Steam didnt't get this and made it so any brain dead child could use it.
Thankfully Metroid 2 is a linear game anyway so it wasn't that bad, but I really really hope they aren't the ones making Metroid 5 or whatever the next true metroidvania entry is.
I always wished for a true sequel to Super Metroid's approach to replayability.

lol

Nah, poor design

Also Sakamoto directly acknowledged legitimacy of SotN's partial deconstruction, which (acknowledgement) got evidenced in heavy Fusion/OtherM story skew.

I am serious though. Super introduced environmental marking of the "sequence", SotN demonstrated (by reduction to absurdity through inverted castle and Richter's run) that due to that "story run" and "collectathon" became essentially different unrelated games, Axiom Verge, in addition to trololoing collectathonists, unmarked "sequence" back and offered radically new, "you don't enter the same river twice" format of playing Metroid-like games.

Mercury Steam can't seem to figure out the 3DS sound systems to save their life. Just be thankful it's not as bad as this piece of shit.

are the files saved poorly or played back poorly?

This is the only Prime game that's actually good at being a first person shooter

The problem is that 2D Metroid keeps taking these decade long hiatuses, so every time they make a new one it has to be accessible to first time players.

First time players are likely to have played metroidvanias. Might as well go hardcore.
