Gaming tech has come a long way. This intro looks similar to high end animated films like Ice Age or Dream Works. Obviously not exactly, but it looks to have life and charm. The thought of PS5 Crash games makes me very curious about how much more they can perfect the visuals and we're very close to next-gen.

Games with microtransactions in them are typically designed with it in mind and are geared to steer the player constantly towards spending more money. One of the better outcomes of that is simply having a carrot dangled in front of the player. Can be annoying, but ignored. But what happens often is that the game becomes a real grind to unlock any content.
I don't know for sure where CTR falls on that spectrum--maybe there isn't even a way to spend real money--but a cash shop organized exactly like that is perfect for a company like Activision.

The game is very faithful in terms of gameplay and mechanics.

In terms of content you have all of the original CTR content but you also have every content from CNK plus more to come.

Game has no microtransactions per se, you have a currency called Wumpa Coins which are earned by everything you do in the game be it normal races, time trials, playing adventure mode, online, etc. But you require to be online in order to get them, these unlock the characters that weren't originally in the the original CTR like Crunch, N. Trance, etc. and other karts, paints, stickers, etc. that you want to obtain, there are a couple of stuff, mostly skins and stickers, that are exclusive to certain Deluxe Editions but there is no word on you being able to adquire Wumpa Coins with real money and it seems you won't be able to.

I'll give him credit for defending the crashfags at least, even if it was a little overdone

Unlocking cosmetics through challenges and gameplay is good, especially for younger audiences, because it rewards hard work and it's really cool to be a kid who unlocks something none of your friends have because you completed and exceptionally hard challenge, then inviting them over to see it and also showing them how to unlock it themselves. Parceling cosmetics out like this in daily deals stores and microtransactions actually does negatively affect a game and the experience behind it.

Nah, I would devour a Twinsanity remake done to the same standard as this CTR one. That was a great game held back by lack of polish and some fun things getting cut out - even as a janky unfinished mess it's still fun as hell.

>using cortex as a surfboard, grinding on rails using his crotch as the point of contact
>clearing a path while cortex runs frantically from a bear while being swarmed by angry bees

If they kept the story, the writing, the environments, the music, and the ideas, but tightened up the execution and added in some of the stuff that was cut from the original, it could be a real 10/10, the best game in the series.

It'd also be an opportunity to be creative and make it their own a bit - compared to the other remakes they've done this one has much more scope for them to add and alter things to improve on the original. If anything, Twinsanity is the most in need of a remake out of all the games in the series.

Sometimes I feel bad for them because it's like they're in a constant state of seething paranoia no matter what happens. It's like post gamergate trauma and they see Sarkeesian everywhere. Most people including those who supported her general argument recognise that she's a fucking idiot who made unnecessary exaggerations and bad examples to make her point.

Wasn't this all about "ethics" anyway? Games have come a long way since the sad state of affairs we were in five years ago where COD ruled the world. Fortnite is quite easy to ignore because now we actually have options. I never would have dreamed back then that these Crash/Spyro remakes could be made at all and certainly not with an intention to appeal to the old school/hardcore audience again.
