stormblood was completely filler. There was no meaningful conclusion because the war isn't over and we never even finished off the main villain of the expansion who is now flying around as an elf in a gay little helicopter. We could have gone directly from 3.3 to 5.0 and nothing would have actually changed.

The problem is that they spent the past two patches building up the long awaited confrontation with Garlemald, only to swerve us off a fucking cliff in the literal last two quests of the expansion into this completely different direction. Granted, what we've seen so far of the ShB story looks fucking fantastic, but there's no denying that the ending of SB was a pathetic wet fart, which in all honestly encapsulates SB as an expansion pretty nicely.

I think they went wrong by splitting attention between Othard and Ala Mhigo. It ended up with both of the revolutions feeling incredibly short and rushed, the civil war itself was incredibly low energy, ended abruptly, the Empire ended up feeling like a complete joke and not much of a real threat. Just my 2c.

God, it always felt like a fucking miracle when my co-tank actually understood the Bismarck worm swap. Only mercy was having no real reason to do the fight after clearing it.

To encourage teamwork. Either separate and mob them with 10 dps at once, or force them to heal themselves while you pick off their dps. Ignore tanks until they're the only ones left, they don't deal much damage.

Doma had the benefit of not being split, so it was more coherent. AM lost a lot of steam just because you start there, get absolutely stomped on, and then proceed to do the stomping when you get back even though you feel like not a lot has really changed until Hien shows up when you're storming the gates of the capital. Doma had everything from Kugane, to the Ruby Sea, to Yanxia and the Steppe contiguous and it all felt like a nice buildup to your final confrontation at Doma Castle.

AM would've been much better had when you returned, you spent some time softening up targets and rebuilding morale from the Rhalgar's Reach massacre, but they were already pushing for time when Doma was concluded. Doma lasted from 61 to 68, while AM only got 60 and half of 68 to 70.

AM's dungeon was nice though, and Shinryu was a great primal, it's just that you literally show back up in AM, fight a small battle for a bridge, watch your comrades get decimated when storming a tower, and then proceed to spend 10 minutes infiltrating the capital in the Lochs was a waste of AM's land. Lochs was especially bad with very little of it being utilized, and having a detailed Ala Mhigan quarter and capital go to waste is a crime.

The floating text in XIV is retarded because there is no way to customize it, it's all-or-nothing, so your screen is constantly filled with useless information that blocks your view of what's happening. I do not need to fucking know every time the Monk shifts into raptor form. I do not need to know when Jolt gives me an Impact proc because it does that 100% of the time.

The only things that flying text is useful for is for seeing when party buffs are applied and seeing when you get a crit Adlo as a scholar. That's literally it, everything else is useless information.

Pretty sure Omega one was April's fool's joke, and those are always entertaining.

SB postgame just felt lame comapred to HW's post because with HW, we were set up with a clear conclusion to a story (Ilbred turned out to be the Griffon, peace to his soul, who we defeated) and an opening to a new one (He summoned a primal that announced clearly our next target along with setting up an invasion of Ala Mhigo, pointing to where we were going). SB's endgame made vague mentions how we were actually going to fuck everything up by winning too much and had an enigmatic voice who mostly felt disconnected from everything else tell us we were going to the first. Had it not been for all the out of game details about it, we'd know exactly nothing about what the first was like or entailed when we got there.

Hell, HW's post game gave us more detail and setup about the next expansion than our current one did. We could've at least got something like echoing effects of the first's troubles (A fight against surprise Sin Eaters, for example) showing up to tell us, "Hey, some shit's really going down and you better get a handle on it before the same thing happens on the Source."

One shot a mob as a level 70 character (e.g. North Than Imperial soldiers), quickly swap to BLU, get a shitload of exp. I leveled BLU to 50 in about 2 hours

The trouble is, it's mostly cross-job stuff that I haven't found good replacements for.

Looking through it, there's just not a whole lot of breastplates without pauldrons or mail under them, I'd like it if I could find an iron breastplate with the level 52 chest armors.

I don't think we're getting more limited jobs due to the feedback. 5.1's BLU update was done when BLU released but they purposely held it back because of steak chewing. I think we're only getting 2 more jobs and that will be it. A 4th healer, and a 4th ranged probably like Beastmaster with the pet AI overhaul being able to make it work. They'll have different pet options for glamour but they'll all do the same thing, and make work similar to RDM with swapping from ranged to melee (throwing axes as weapons or a crossbow?)

Then, sometime later, they'll redo BLU and make it a proper job. Most of the work already exists asset wise. Then we'll have 4 of everything and we'll get BUG as a 4th gatherer and sister to FSH.

Fights are pretty easy to do only 10 levels higher since you skip so many mechanics. Of course there are oddball cases like Gavel in A8s that required 8 party members until ilevel let you burn down Brute Justice before Gavel resolved.

Get to level 30 and if the gameplay of ARC still doesn't appeal to you at all, level a different class up to its job (or even just up to Sastasha, lv. 15, and trying it out at its absolute most basic) and see if that clicks instead. Don't go past level 30 in the story if you intend on switching jobs, anything higher than that to suddenly switch gets very painful.

Nael is female and was always intended to be female, but 1.0 didn't have voice acting so it was intended to be a surprise reveal that never happened because 1.0 was cancelled. In Japanese you can talk about someone without referring to their gender in a natural way, but in English and most western languages this is stilted at best and the translators didn't even think to do so, instead just assuming Nael is male. Soaking up Tricks with Goldsmith's level 50 ability is the best way, along with getting some easy progress before you start the grind with armorer's piece by piece. Once you run out of Maker's Mark, you should have almost a full progress bar and a decent amount of CP to work with still, allowing you to cap out inner quiet stacks with precise touch and finish it off with a Byregot nuke. With scrip gear, a full 11 stack buffed breygot with Ingenuity II (You should use ingenuity before Byregoting, it'll give you roughly 50% more quality) will give you 14500 quality, usually more than enough to ensure an HQ at that point, but it will take around 130 CP to fully get the combo off (22 for Steady Hand, 32 for Ingen2, 32 for Great Strides, 18 for Innovation, and 24 for Byregot).

It's easier to HQ the finished item imo, since you have more durability to work with which lets you more easily build IQ stacks and nuke it to completion, but HQing the component items will make it easier to HQ the finished item, plus you can always sell the NQ mats if you have trouble using them to recoup your money.

Yeah, the only drawback to it is the time wasted while crafting means you'll consume more food to craft the same amount of items. Getting all those extra steps in just gives you tons of extra chances for good quality for tricks or for gambling a double IQ gain for 18 CP.

The non Maker's Mark setups don't push quality high enough to reliably HQ things without some HQ mats involved, even though they're macroable and speedy, you'll wind up with a lot of NQ from them. If you can, try and ditch the scrip accessories and get crafted ones with CP melds, the extra CP makes it far easier to craft things. I switched from scrip gear to pentamelded crafted gear and that 50 or so CP I got from materia melds made such a big difference I don't think I can go back.

FFXIV feels natural on a PS4 controller. Yes even healing; just adjust your targeting filters. People played FFXI on a ps2 controller as well and I felt like that game was better on m+kb.

As much as they wanted to show that Zenos had different motives from "defeat the Eorzeans/Resistance," I think there should have been a different staging ground that got razed early in the story, after a more pronounced Resistance raid (to make it seem like they'd done enough to really slow Imperial response time to Baelsar's Wall), with the remaining bloodied Resistance forced to fall back into hiding at Rhalgr's Reach (with its glamour intact - and a better impression of how effective it is could be made, too). That would at least have made it feel like there was more time to spare in the Ala Mhigo situation.

It's only spitballing in hindsight, but I think the joint Ala Mhigo/Doma liberations was inevitable, too, because they'd built up both too much, and conceptually they're too close in theme to spend two separate expansions on.

If they're actually adding a world or two on europe right now and you're new/planning to make a character consider picking one of the new worlds. World visit is a thing so being on "the wrong server" isn't really a big deal and the bonuses are stupidly big for starting on a new world. Huge xp bonuses, some pretty decent early gil and I think even more stuff. XP alone is a big, big beefy bonus.

This made 12s a lot easier than I was expecting it to be. As soon as you could do HW2, that was the fight. At least 11s introduced the first pantokrator some ways in, and the second near the end. it's not slow at all IMO. Especially because if you hit up on the top party member it goes to the bottom member and vice versa. Clicking the dpad 4 times is faster than clicking with a mouse IMO plus it's a lot easier to move your character and the camera while casting shit at the same time.

I find it really easy to dpad through between GCDs. It's not like you typically need to spot heal anyone but the tank, and if you do, you can usually tell in advance.

Cross-alliance healing is balls on controller though, so I do just use my mouse if I notice another one needs some help (I've rescued an alliance on TG Cid before, so I'm fairly confident in my abilities there)
