I'm real curious about how they're going to handle hacking. People who got into the E3 demo are talking about V hacking on the fly in combat and using a monofilament wire both to facilitate hacking and as a ranged weapon like in Johnny Mnemonic or Shadowrun. They also talk about enemies hacking you mid combat as well but I've not heard anything about if you can stop them or anything. Hopefully it's done well seeing as how it's so central to the genre and 1/3 of their playstyle

I meant from like story point of view. Though that makes sense in the P&P and I suppose its equally up to the DM to give a good reason for you to be doing what you're doing.
But as for 2077 I don't see a Rockerboy working. A media could be someone just looking for a story and a Cop could be a detective. Given the story bits we've been told about the chip with the secret to immortality I don't see how its not possible to be a Cop or Media. But I don't see how a Rockerboy would work in the story. Like what purpose would they care about the chip or be involved in its retrieval in the first place.

There are a few things that kinda stop that. It is possible to just upload your mind to the Net. At least 2 Netrunners that I can think of did it, one of which was Johnny Silverhands girlfriend. I don't know if or why they can't upload your brain to a cloned body, but Cyberpsychosis is a thing that prevents or would greatly interfere with someone having a fully cybernetic body.
As for living in the Net there was apparently an event some time after 2020 that resulted in the Governments of the World having to block off the Internet as a massive worldwide network, and now the Internet is just small local networks. So while you used to be able to live in a massive interconnected digital world now its a digital world of just about a single district of a city.

From what I've heard of the closed doors demo the chip contains part of the "secret to immortality". My guess is its the Soulkiller program which copies a persons mind into a digital format. Given that Johnny doesn't show up until after the chip is in V and the demo mentions and has you looking for his Girlfriend, Alt Cunningham I'm sure its related to it in someway.

I know the deference between a Nomad and a Street Kid. I'm saying I don't think they will make them THAT noticeably distinct. I mean you can boil them both down to "grew up poor and had to scrape by and do what needed to be done to survive" Only difference is one did it on the streets inside the city and the other did it on the streets outside the city. I know there's more to each than that but I can see them cutting corners and not giving them much more than a few extra dialog choices. I hope they don't. I hope theres more to being a Nomad than that. And if there is it will be my second playthrough before I play a Corpo.
