Slide Coliseum is in the Crash Cup unless they changed it. Turbo Track and Oxide station weren't in any arcade cup in the original (in fact you couldn't race on Oxide Station at all in multiplayer)

The physics were never going to be a 100% faithful recreation, that's literally impossible when building from scratch. The kinks are minor, we've been playing the original for 20 years and this for a few hours. It'll be fine.

This has me excited and fearful at the same time, is exiting and entering a turbo chain as snappy as it is in the original? I can't tell if it's the player but in this webm when he exits from a left hand turbo slide into a right hand turbo slide it seems like there is a massive delay in the start of the new slide whereas in the original depending on your position relative to the ground you could start a new turbo chain almost immediately.

I don't even know the specifics so bare with me and take what I say with a grain of salt
There are three types of SF, the first just being the standard one from chaining together turbos long enough including turbo pads that you stay at 'max speed'.
The second one (I think this one is considered USF) is from certain turbo pads that push you past 'max speed' temporarily, but the time can be extended by maintaining a decent chain of turbos on certain maps, most notably the Lab and Castle stages but also Oxide Station and Hot Air Balloon (which are usually overlooked because there exist glitches in these levels that are quicker), webm related. This one breaks instantly if you do another turbo, including slide turbos/jump turbos. I expect this one to be fixed in the remake sadly.
The third is a bug in the game only possible on certain levels like Coco's park where doing a continuous turbo chain over a turbo eventually breaks the turbo counter and puts you in a max speed state. Only really useful for a certain wr gimmick youtube.com/watch?v=dw1AWaBpMSs

There are four types of fire
Regular fire which you get from normal power sliding which will put you one bar from max speed
Sacred fire which you get from power sliding over a turbo pad which puts you at max speed
Ultimate sacred fire which you get from power sliding over a super turbo pad (and not using any other boosts) which goes well beyond the speedometer limit
Saffi fire which is a glitch for infinite reserves that is only relevant for setting lap records

Nitro fueled removed the limitation on USF so as long as you have reserves you can stay at that speed as long as you want. Saffi fire is most likely fixed now.

It's worth noting that they reduced USF speed slightly so it's not quite as fast as it was in the original but you'll still zoom past players only using sacred fire.

Yeah, it will definitely weed out weaker players for sure, but the difference in top end players will literally be who can hold USF for the longest, dunno how interesting that will be. As the skill level of players increases the floor/ceiling will more likely than not get very close to each other.
