you would if it didn't have fixed camera. MML used the D pad for a 3D environment and hitting left or right turned your character rather than move them left or right. That's tank controls.

Hitting left/right made him strafe left/right in my game though.

yup, and that's what I remember. stopping, hitting left or right and my character rotated.
I also remember squeaky ass voice acting and bad models and no helmet. That was the first one anyway on the PS1, remember the PS1 didn't have analog sticks in their default controllers so earlier games used the D pad, which is fucking awful for 3D movement to begin with.

the point was it had shitty tank controls and was half assed through and through. It was also designed for young children. We were coming off of Mega Man X's design to the goofy looking faggot that Volnutt was? Fuck that. It was among the worst 2D->3D transitions in video games (along with trying to make the Mega Man X series 3D.. big mistake, they were terrible at it)

you can turn using triggers easily while running, mml1 controls are a bit clunky but 2 is better
