Refuse to make games

>refuse to make games
>Do not allow other to make games

How can valve drones defend this? Do we really need to join epic, is there no other way to save gaming industry?

>Halo CE Anniversary and Quake Champions devs

They said no for a reason

Because they're a shit studio.

based valve, there's not a single studio operating right now that could make a worthy successor

change my mind

lol so valve is somehow required to allow shitty other devs to fuck with their ip? What point are you trying to make exactly, or do you just want (you)'s

Hl2 still looks better than most modern games. Only a massive retard wants it remade. Based gaben

Attached: cute064.jpg (960x1280, 277K)

I think Gaben redemption arc is incoming. I just feel it bros

They allowed Hunt Down the Freeman, a legendarily awful piece of shit embellishing their own intellectual property, to be sold on their own distribution network. They have no principles.

CEA was MS saying they had to use the Reach aesthetic, watch the Joe Staten podcast with Ryan Mcafferty.

>rejecting a remake
Sounds pretty based if you ask me. I know remakes are all snoys and nintendies have these days

What "shitty other devs"? Saber Interactive is a great studio. Valve, on the other hand, have completely fucked Half-Life 2 on Steam and refuse to fix it.

Yeah hl2 is far from needed a remake of any kind. Honestly so was hl1. Neither of these games need work on them, and thats coming from a guy who fucking hates both these games personally. Even though i dont personally enjoy them, i believe they are perfect where they are now, and fucking with graphics and artstyle will only hurt the series. Also source has ungodly facial animation tech so it would probly be a downgrade anyways

I don't care, I just want some fucking closure for fuck's sake

maybe in a different timeline

>saber
thank jesus everything they touch is ruins

It's gonna be like an anime where the pacifist monk living in the outskirts of the village secretly hides a katana in his posession. And then when the village is attacked by bandits he will finally unsheathe it

> "NANI?!! GABEN YOUR JUST AN OLD MAN!!!!!"

this
dota underlords is going to save the gaming industry

We don't need any remasters, we have cinematic mod already, the ultimate version of HL2.

Attached: 90.jpg (873x546, 50K)

They updated the engine and textures gazillion times you fucking nigger. Don't act like it's still the same game from 2004.

Artifact will have its redemption once season 1 rolls up

>Not Canon
They keep selling Opposing Force and Blue Shift for the same reason, they expand the universe but none of that is canon other than HL, HL2,ep1,ep2, Portal and Portal 2(no PTE).

Taking a look at their portfolio as we speak. So which of these games makes them so great huh? Shaq Fu? NBA Playgrounds? Fucking quake champions? Yeah im glad valve isnt letting them touch hl2.

Gaben isn't even the head of Valve anymore, that's why you get garbage like Artifact and a market full of 0.03$ skins people used 2$ on to unbox.

It's some jew now, Gabe is just some kind of advisor. It's insanity.

Half-Life 2 is fine the way it is and does not need a remake.

Actually, that's the result of hiring some lame ass Psychologist.

>Half life 2 remake instead of a sequel

Attached: ....png (243x245, 30K)

The 2004 looks better though.
youtube.com/watch?v=vpa0kBm2skM

Hl2 remake would be weird.

It would have to be on the source engine, and would just be a texture update at best. The Black mesa remake at least makes sense.

>inb4 don't put it on source
yeah no

No wonder why they are sucking tim sweeney's cock now

true. I think they lost the source code.

>Saber Interactive

Attached: 1560712115710.jpg (258x245, 23K)

World War Z is fantastic. What amazing games did the Black Mesa team have in their portfolio?

>Half-Life 2 is fine the way it is
Half-Life 2 IS COMPLETELY FUCKING BROKEN THANKS TO VALVE. IT IS NOT IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM "FINE THE WAY IT IS".

a lot of this looks like maps needing to be re-rendered after the hack. And having such a short amount of time to render them, they had to go with a quick render. Likely they had the maps all backed up and shared around in some files, but not all the high res textures etc.

FULLY

>is there no other way to save gaming industry?
Are you saying the only other way to save gaming is by having valve make a game?

No clue because i gave zero shits for black mesa as well. Both hl2 and hl1 have art styles that hold up well compared to the era they came out in. Absolutely no reason to remaster either one

Haven't played it in years, what's broken about it

if hl2 is remade it should be on source 2
but source 2 will be relegated to dota 2 spin offs

after shit like hunt down the freeman i aint surprised. also this

>if hl2 is remade it should be on source 2

is there even a noticible difference?
did they fix the particle issue?

Translation:
>Valve give us money and we'll make a remake for you
>"No"

I don't know
they haven't shown anything about it
Artifact and that chess game are on source 2

Yeah, they said no because there is no money in video games for them anymore. No reason to bother with your original fans when you can just be a storefront and effortlessly earn billions

dota 2 is also on source 2

>Saber Interactive

It was for the good of mankind, user.

Attached: 1504144167838.jpg (369x365, 27K)

They asked if they could remake it and share profits with valve, valve said no. They did not ask for any money from them.

they are spending a lot of time and resources on vr
which will definitely won't be a waste of time

>what are these anons meming about
>that track record

hebus

Characters can't blink anymore. This includes the G-Man being unable to blink in the opening scene. Barney can't smirk anymore because they pasted HL2 animations on top of Episode facial animation systems. The game shits itself if you quicksave within about a second of an auto-save. The physics are completely wrong and this makes the train chicken sequence borderline impossible among many other issues. The coast maps are riddled with culling errors due to broken shaders. There is a giant black graphical glitch that takes up THE ENTIRE FUCKING SCREEN during the game's ending. Followed by the G-Man's negative graphical effects rendering completely incorrectly. The airboat doesn't follow you between maps properly. There are upside down props in the lab. Modern HL2 is riddled with technical issues, broken graphics, broken scripted events, and it's generally just a pile of shit. There's a fan patch working on fixing as many of the issues as possible, but Valve just does not give a shit about the fact HL2 is broken. They only care about fixing MP titles. That's the only reason HL1 got patched. Several of the bugs in HL2 were introduced by the Team Fortress 2 team tampering with the shared source code.

Well, maybe in 20 years.

meant for

Shit I just realize that Gaben is the George RR Martin of vidya

>vr game coming out this year
how long until they cancel it?

>implying TimeShift was bad

Black Mesa had Black Mesa in their portfolio when they applied to steam, you asshat.
It's not like they asked steam/valve and THEN started making it, BM's pre-Xen chapters were already pretty far before they asked/applied.

Sabre didn't have WWZ when they asked Valve, the dates don't match up at all, and what was done with QC was absolutely abhorrent.

And besides that, why the fuck would you want to REMAKE HL2? It's fine. There's not a moment I play HL2 where I'm like "god DAMN do I sure fucking wish this was remade, this game's aged so poorly, I wish I could aim down the sights, where's my quick melee button >>>:CCC"

fuck off

Hilarious because TimeShift was a HL2 wanabe so fucking hard

>Sabre didn't have WWZ when they asked Valve, the dates don't match up at all

It was literaly 3 weeks ago

>Saber Interactive

Attached: 1504154309756.jpg (443x680, 13K)

Gabe was right.

Attached: Saber Interactive - Wikipedia.png (782x1051, 74K)

is half life 1 even worth playing by today's standards or should I just be a dumb zoomie and play black mesa instead

original has soul.

original has an ending

>today's standards
There's no such thing. Go fucking play it. Play all the fucking classics

yes its way more fun than hl2.
Enemies are a little bullet spongey, but its a lot faster.

I'm still mad about Quake Champions.

Quake 3/Live is still the best FPS ever made how do you fuck up a remake so badly?

>Saber interactive
Thank god Valve told them to fuck off. Those retards made the engine for Quake Champions and it's a steaming pile of shit.

Attached: 1558751822271.png (1280x720, 752K)

>Saber Interactive
Good riddance.

Attached: quake-champions-logo.jpg (900x506, 28K)

Why do so many people seem to dislike Saber? They're clearly a contract dev, kinda like Sumo Digital.

TimeShift was cool.
They did good work on Halo.
World War Z is kino.
They're even porting The Witcher 3 to Switch, which gives some indication of the trust placed in them by developers.

HL2 doesn't need a remake. It's still totally smooth to play, can be made to look pretty good, and only suffers from a few shitty walking and talking sections. Devs should focus on remaking games that could greatly benefit from a remake due to feeling very outdated (System Shock, Banjo Kazooie, Arx Fatalis, arguably Deus Ex for its blockiness and slight jank)

Even they can't fuck up more than valve did with HF2.

>portfolio starts off with two passable shooters
>devolves into questionable ports and licensed shovelware
>got the go-ahead to port 2009 Ghostbusters and Witcher 3
They must come with a cheap price tag.

>HL2 doesn't need a remake.
It does not even fucking work you moron

Take the hint guys, Valve wants you to forget this shit ever happened and just move on with being a store

Hunt Down the Freeman is a pretty enjoyable game. Give it a try next summer sale if you don't believe me.

Saber is staffed by very talented people. Any game programmed by Saber is guaranteed to turn the strongest rig into a George Foreman grill when you run it on minimum settings.

Attached: source.jpg (500x500, 61K)

You're going to tell everyone here they didn't actually play the game or something, but we don't have to, we've seen the videos, it's fucking awful.

>how long
More like since when.

The article is, the remake proposition wasn't.
Read the fucking article, shitstain.

'With that in mind, Saber Interactive approached Valve about producing a remake of the famous title sometime after the release of their Microsoft-backed Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary in 2011'

>yet allow hunt down the freeman to exist
valve is retarded

The price tag of a vodka, that is

QC is a testimony of what not to do with a good game

I mean, QC IS GOOD, they had the ball, it's fun and addictive when it works, but IT DOESN'T WORK. They were actually growing before the December Patch. They fucked up so hard they make Apex look like a passable fuck up.

>They're even porting The Witcher 3 to Switch, which gives some indication of the trust placed in them by developers.
more like getting a quick back for a shitty port to an inferior tablet

>Battle: Los Angeles

Attached: 1553845217747.jpg (300x288, 9K)

They just made 2 games you spastic.

HDtF is a fan mod set in the universe and would hardly hurt an IP, they understand that clearly. Hell even Artifact didnt hurt Dota franchise despite being from Valve themselves. But "remake" which are usually considered the superior or definitive version would. Especially when outsorced to some dev which only major project before that was a questionable Halo remake.

Yeah I don't see the point. The QoL-focused Half Life 2: Update is enough. Although someone at Valve could be cool enough to release the texture masters at least as computers should obviously be able to handle higher quality ones than they could in late 04.

>games
Ha

FERNED

Read Epistle 3. That's your closure.

I did. It's not vidya so it doesn't count.

YOU FUCKED UP MY FACE

Only the boss and his close friends actually profit from these jobs, while the staff get paid russian wages which is nothing.

Valve don't care about HF ip, you can't put loot boxes into it.

It's the best you're ever going to get. Deal with it.

>never made Episode 3
>didn't do a remake because original is still incomplete
based

shut up

Attached: 1425772141608.jpg (220x182, 6K)

HDTF dev, please stop.

Valve hasn't been good for years
Fuck Steamcels, support Epic and knock Valve off their pedestal

That's not how Source works.

Please, provide source on how source works. Thank you

Fuck valve but Chinese and their spyware browser are no better.

how fucking delusional do you have to be to think this?

Remember when HL2: Episode 2 came along, and then got BTFO by Crysis a month later?

The last thing the Half-Life series needs is a shitty remake. It doesn't even need a good remake. The original game is fine as is. Why the fuck are people so remake-happy? Remake this popular game, remake that game that's guaranteed to sell well. Remakes should be reserved for games with poor execution and good ideas, or games that are difficult to play due to circumstances of its development.

You don't 'lose' textures from Source maps. They're either packed into the map itself (custom maps, stemming from the Quake origins) or into the game's pak archives in precompressed form to be used in other maps. Lower res distance textures are auto-generated by the import process.

Saber interactive fucking suck though
See why would you let someone just why would you let someone just kill your son officially after you saw them kills two different Studios son

That was truly brutal

>waaah i can't play half-life 2 for the nth time!!1
Are you actually this entitled or are you just desperate to complain about Valve? At least bitch at the fact that they literally haven't said a thing since Portal 2 released.

Attached: baby.jpg (300x168, 7K)

Halo was not bad really. Quake champions is the best quake game, but in 2019 it's nietche as fuck

Half-Life 2 does have the teeensy problem of having absolutely dogshit gunplay and not-fun-to-fight AI.

Its shitty that Valve doesn't make games anymore, and franchises should just go public-domain when they're neglected like this.

However, Valve is still far and away more "pro-consumer" compared to the Epic store.
You're a cuck for even suggesting otherwise.

Saber, LOL!! A joke of dev, you only need to watch MCC(before 343 fix their shit) and Quake Champions.

>Half-Life 3 gets announced
>it's an Epic Store exclusive

Attached: Monkey's paw.jpg (259x194, 10K)

Why would you let some random studio trash on your legacy?

>and franchises should just go public-domain when they're neglected like this.
Just how drunk on fanboyism do you have to be to think something like this?

Attached: 1504115702635.jpg (500x300, 20K)

Because Valve wants the fans to do it

Attached: blackmesa.jpg (460x215, 22K)

but muh! muh! muh valuve! muh half-life! muh childhoods!

Attached: (you too).jpg (812x852, 134K)

>Refusing to make cashgrab remakes
That's a good thin in my book.

>Saber, LOL!! A joke of dev, you only need to watch MCC(before 343 fix their shit) and Quake Champions.
Wait, wait. You... do understand that all Saber did for MCC was work on the Halo 2 campaign, right? They didn't even do the shitty new cutscenes. That was Blur. They had no involvement with the MP. Why do gamers insist on blaming contract devs for stuff outside of their control?

>What is Hunt Down the Freeman

It has nothing to do with fanboyism. If you haven't noticed that copyright law in the US is bizarre, then I don't know how I can explain it.

Does it not seem strange to you that the biggest movies right now star characters that were created between the 40s and the 60s, and that SINGLE COMPANIES still have exclusive rights to these characters?

When would you suggest that Captain America be considered "Americana" rather than being a Disney property?

Have you tried playing hf2? Valve literally raped it, it's unplayable in its current state. You can't shit more in this than valve

Threads like this demonstrate that gamers understand fuck-all about game development. You see similar stuff with people who shit on Iron Galaxy Studios who overall do really good work because "muh Arkham Knight PC port". Or D3T because "muh Shenmue remasters were fucked at launch". They blame contract devs for stuff that goes wrong due to unreasonable deadlines and general publisher fuckery.

People have already modded half life 2 to have better graphics. Also 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.

Attached: hl2benbuja.jpg (1680x1050, 425K)

>Breaking a single player game and making the pirate version objectively superior
Seriously? That's awful.

I replayed it for a couple of years, what's wrong with it?

Start talking about VR when it becomes the Oasis from Ready Player One

>it has nothing to do with fanboyism
Yes it fucking does. You're trying to change the subject because you don't have an argument to justify why you want Valve, THE ORIGINAL CREATORS of Half-Life, to be stripped of their rights to make the game, just because you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REEEEEAAAALLY want to play YET ANOTHER sequel. If you cared so much you'd do your research and find out why Valve cancelled the Episode 3 release back in 2009. Companies are not obliged to keep releasing sequels, go watch your shitty capeshit films.

Attached: 1515536641385.png (626x566, 138K)

or atleast when it has more than one game that isnt a test project

This isn't supposed to happen, for a start. The fact this isn't more widely talked about kinda demonstrates that relatively few people play HL2 long enough to reach this section.
youtube.com/watch?v=osOAq-sTFRU

>you want Valve, THE ORIGINAL CREATORS of Half-Life, to be stripped of their rights to make the game
Bro, how fucking stupid are you?

Now I need you to think hard about this:

If Valve's game went public domain, meaning that ANYBODY could make a HL game, then what would stop Valve from making a HL game?

it needs to be remade to fix the bugged jump mechanic

yeah they may have had access to older texture files, but lost them with the hack.

Tiananmen Square massacre was less of a massacre than the Boston massacre.

Bostonians were only throwing stones. Tiananmen protestors were throwing molotovs.

I see that I'm going to spell it out to your dumb ass. Valve are the original creators of Half-Life, they're not Jack Kirby who got butt-fucked his whole life by the faceless executives at Marvel and couldn't keep using his precious capeshit heroes on his comics, you are looking at two completely different scenarios. Valve has every right to do whatever they want with Half-Life because they actually created it. Valve knows this two, hence why everyone can make a Half-Life game, as long as it's not being sold. Or are you forgetting all of the Half-Life and Half-Life 2 mods out there? I guess all that Marvel crap fried your brain and made you forget.

Good. Shitty devs and hl2 is the worst entry to the series. Only good for its engine.

Why would you need to remake near perfection?

Attached: 20180430184652_1.jpg (1366x768, 140K)

>Only good for its engine.
The Source engine was pretty shitty compared to Unreal, id Tech, and CryEngine in particular.

>meaning that ANYBODY could make a HL game, then what would stop Valve from making a HL game?
But everyone can. There are a million Half-Life 1 + expacs remakes in the work, along with a billion Episode 3 fan-games, and games that are supposed to be the beta storyline. You're fucking stupid if you think a company would use an IP they don't completely own to make a game out of.

it still feels amazing to move in compared to them.

I'd be throwing molotovs too if I was living under that bullshit.

Wait, Fern adventure wasn't a remake?

>You're fucking stupid if you think a company would use an IP they don't completely own to make a game out of.
You mean like when Valve made Half-Life 2 despite Half-Life belonging to Sierra? (Reminder that Valve intentionally sabotaged game projects as a way of forcing Sierra to give them the rights to Half-Life. They threw Gearbox under the bus during the development of Condition Zero. The problem with Condition Zero and the root of its weird creative problems was that Valve didn't want the project to release. They wanted to use it as leverage. They forced Gearbox to make a singleplayer Counter Strike game despite Gearbox arguing that Counter Strike worked better as an MP game, among other things.)

I remember nobody being able to play it at max at launch, and reviews having flat lighting due to their rigs being shit. I don't think you remember it quite well, user.

>"spelling anything out" for me
>After you literally thought that Valve would LOSE THE ABILITY to make HL games if the IP was public domain.

Protip, since you're this stupid:
If HL went public domain, and Valve didn't use the IP for another ten years or whatever, they could still come back, after a dozen variant HL games have been made, and launch a new Half-life series, and EVERYTHING that they develop specifically for that new series would fall under a brand new IP, that they own.

See, you live in this little bubble of corperate media that tells you, "If X didn't have EXCLUSIVE rights to Y, [vague awful things] would happen".
This is stupid, and you're stupid for believing it.

>all of these poor scumbag dipshit companies got hustled by muh valuve! strip their rights away big daddy government!
lmao, nice argument, jimmy.

>Saber Interactive
Literally fucking who?

>You're fucking stupid if you think a company would use an IP they don't completely own to make a game out of.
Why on god's green earth do you think a new movie about Robin Hood comes out every few years, user?

Holy shit, what even is this retarded conversation?
You're so obviously a complete ignoramus on this topic, YOUR ignorance is embarrassing ME.

>everyone i disagree with is a CORPORATE MEDIA SHILL!!!1
Did you just leave your liberal college campus? Anyway. Anyone is free to make a Half-Life game, if you weren't such a retard you'd notice all the games in development.

>Public domain means "The government owns it"
Add this to the pile or retarded shit you've said in this conversation.

Please kill yourself and livestream it.
The world needs to know that your threat to the gene pool has ended.

>I remember nobody being able to play it at max at launch
That's kind of the idea.
>and reviews having flat lighting due to their rigs being shit.
Even on Medium settings, Crysis's facial animation is light years beyond HL2 Episode 2's.

The absolute state of PC gaming. Enjoy your console ports.

Ah yes, the Robin Hood movies, those are some great games. Leave the video-game discussion to people who actually know video games, go back to r/movies, watch your fucking avengers and star wars, and keep arguing about how much better it would if you had the rights from the franchise or whatever.

>everyone i disagree with
This is not an argument, user, this is you spouting a string of retarded misunderstandings, on your part, and me taking on the monumental task of correcting you.

>muh liberal college campus
Another for the pile of retarded shit: "Public domain is some kind of socialist thing"
You are an embarrassing stereotype, and I want your life to end in a gas chamber.

>suddenly becomes confused when discussion applies to media rather than just video games
At this point, your actual argument has become "I'm too stupid to keep up with these concepts".

I was never interested in crysis but still:

>HEY GUYS HERE AT VALVE WERE GONNA DELIVER MORE HL2 CONTENT IN FASTER-TO-DEVELOP EPISODIC CHUNKS, SO EXPECT HL2: EPISODE 3 ANY DAY NOW!!!!

they absolutely lost sight of their true selves in all the digital distribution dosh.

Attached: 5zKXz.gif (250x210, 482K)

I fail to see how it BTFO'd Episode 2 in any way though. Graphical wise, the modern PC at the time could never get close to anything considered good at launch. That's why the "Will it run crisis" phrase was a huge joke for ten years, because most couldn't. It failed to work for modern audiences, meaning that people who played it got a piece of shit, regardless of it's potential. Also, and I genuinely mean this in the most respectful way possible, have you gone back and played Crisis lately? Its facial animations were worse than the ones that came with not just Episode 2, but HL2 in general, a game that came out three years prior.
Culturally, Crisis is barely remembered, while people make daily threads for HL2. This thread even existing proves that fact.

the rape of nanking was not only based, but incredibly redpilled. at the very worst its just good ol’ bestiality.

>have you gone back and played Crisis lately? Its facial animations were worse than the ones that came with not just Episode 2, but HL2 in general, a game that came out three years prior.
This is wholly untrue. Half-Life 2's facial animation was basically a realistic looking version of TimeSplitter 2/3's. The characters don't look like real people. Their faces move in this exaggerated, hand-animated way. With Crysis, Crytek were using facial capture technology to map realistic facial expressions onto characters.
>Graphical wise, the modern PC at the time could never get close to anything considered good at launch.
Yes it could. Even on lower settings, Crysis is still graphically beyond anything else on the market in 2007.
>That's why the "Will it run crisis" phrase was a huge joke for ten years, because most couldn't.
This isn't true at all.
>Culturally, Crisis is barely remembered
Also not true.
>while people make daily threads for HL2.
This is mainly because Crysis threads devolve into screaming matches between Crysis 1 fans and Crysis 2 fans, and there's not much discussion to be had. Other than the self-evident fact that the modern FPS landscape takes huge influence from both Crysis 1 and Crysis 2.

valve's already had more than enough problems permitting anyone near their ip

Was this a pun?

>The physics are completely wrong and this makes the train chicken sequence borderline impossible
I was wondering about that. I remember it being close but easier but playing it after 5-ish years and I have to reload a dozen times before it works.

I guess Pitchford learned some scummy moves from Valve

>Quake champions is the best quake game
said nobody ever

>Tiananmen square

Blink, motherfucker, BLINK!

Are we actually at the point of defending the tiananmen square massacre just to get some more of Wong's wang? Jesus.

What if Naughty Dog remade HL & HL2?

And how do you think companies maintain their exclusive rights to IPs without big daddy government? Congrats, you played yourself.

FPBP

Valve deserves criticism for abandoning single player game development but anyone mad about them refusing to license out half life is a full blown retard

why the fuck would you need to remake it? Don't these people know how pcs work? Buy a better computer.

>consolekiddie thinking he has a right to an opinion
The adults are talking, kid.

>Saber
Fuck those potatoniggers

>this makes the train chicken sequence borderline impossible
THE FUCK. I was just playing it on og xbox and thought it was way easier for some reason.

What's your issue with Saber?

the only thing half life 2 needs is the ability to skip the cutscenes.

oh no they can't remake one of the most overrated games of all time

>Seen the video = playing the game

Attached: A0E3F25E-4B26-476C-8652-992EFFD4F11E.jpg (211x239, 5K)

They're hacks and can't fucking code, look at Quake Champions.

Reminder: Valve will UNIRONICALLY, give Half-Life 3 to any developer if they can do it justice.
The thing is, is that no developer besides Valve can do Half-Life 3 justice to their standards, so it doesn't get made

What's wrong with Quake Champions, which was primarily developed by id Software, incidentally?

This,
Game mechanics still stands up.
A remake will just shit up the game play, either introduce loot boxes, games as a service or tranny diversity shit.

They gave the devs making Boreal Alyph (fan Episode Three in Source) a Source license for free.

Wolfenstein: The New Order and Prey (2017) were both pretty damn impressive (mostly) linear-cinematic-singleplayer FPS. Boneworks and Valves own HLVR are coming this year.

>which was primarily developed by id Software, incidentally?
Geez, the nigger can open Wikipedia articles.
The game was outsourced to these fucks, they're a bunch of retards who can't code for shit. No continuous lobbies, bad netcode, garbage UI, garbage optimization, RIDDLED with bugs, questionable balance choices, no third party support, just to name a few problems.
I'd say play QC and find out but you are most likely a retard zoomer who's accustomed to these practices and haven't played any other Quake games to compare.

Attached: 1505104865647.jpg (1920x1090, 210K)

>Game mechanics still stands up.
Except the shooting. HL2's shooting sucks.

It was literally directed by Tim Willits. Saber were the outsource dev just like Virtuos are the outsource dev on basically every AAA game you play. id were calling the shots.
mobygames.com/game/windows/quake-champions-early-access-edition/credits

>Shaq Fu Remake
hold the fuck up, IT CAME OUT? holy shit i thought it was dead, how was it?

Compared to other shit back then, sure.
But most modern games don't have an arsenal of weapons or alternate fires like HL2 had.

Do you understand how contract development works, like at all? You're like those idiots who claim Sumo Digital are a bad studio because they provided the products companies asked them to provide, no questions asked. Contract devs do what they're told or they get replaced by contract devs who will do what they're told.

I've gone through this recently on hl2 update wtf

I played through the game just a year or two ago and didn't have this problem, did they ever patch this at all?

HL2 hasn't been patched since 2012. You didn't have HL2 Update installed or anything like that, did you?

I literally Just played everything he's talking about to test and none of it happened to me.
Gman still blinks
The train isnt impossibly hard if your not a brainlet
I looked for upside down props and there were none
I got no culling errors in my console on any of the coast levels
The autosave/quicksave shit doesnt break anything, and I played through the ending 20 times to see that graphical glitch.

Maybe it's just your game thats broken user, the game is still the same as I remember it being.

Also maybe because there's no fucking reason to do it whatsoever?

>wahhh why won't they let this garbage studio remake their flagship IP

Because a remake isn't needed.
Fucking cocksucking nostalgiaretards like you are killing the goddamn industry.

>saber interactive
Given the games they have made I can see why what a nightmare

Not sure why the series stopped at Episode 2, but they would be insane to release it in this day and age, where single-player FPS are a dying breed. People have hyped HL3 so much that literally nothing with satisfy the rabid fan.

It's like everyone forgot they not only let this happen but let it on steam so the guy could make money on it I'm sure if a dev worth a quarter of a shit wanted to they would let them remake it

>People have hyped HL3 so much that literally nothing with satisfy the rabid fan.
People keep saying this but the fact that retards are completely eating up Cyberpunk 2077 makes me doubt it

What's wrong with cyberpunk 2077?

Looks like generic trash despite almost a decade in development?

>Gman still blinks
My memory is fuzzy, but certain scripted blinking actions still work in HL2. But unscripted blinking is fucked. The broken line of code is here. github.com/ValveSoftware/source-sdk-2013/blob/master/sp/src/game/client/c_baseflex.cpp#L1152 It was added by the Team Fortress 2 team, of course.
>I got no culling errors in my console on any of the coast levels
They're not gonna show up in the console. Valve broke the shaders for windows so stuff is culled incorrectly.

You can find discussion on some of the problems here. github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues?page=1&q=is:issue is:open label:"Half-Life 2"

>I looked for upside down props and there were none
Check the mini teleporter in Kleiner's lab.
>The autosave/quicksave shit doesnt break anything
Quicksaving on top of an auto-save causes the game's framerate to crash. This is a documented and 100% reproducible issue.
>and I played through the ending 20 times to see that graphical glitch.
Which is why it appears in every single LP of the game.

You have hardly seen any gameplay

Works on my machine ;)

I'm a pretty huge valve fan, but HDTF was garbage. There are few games that have worse reviews, and this game had access to an amazing IP.

Maybe they learnt their lesson

based

After 15 years of hype and skyhigh expectations nobody can make HL3. It's already a legendary game. No matter what you do it won't reach the level of people's imagination.

Valve isn't in the gaming industry, they sell and distribute games now, and they do it infinitely better than Epic ever will or can.

Cope.

>They only care about fixing MP titles.
lmfao tf2 hasn't received bugfixes in years.

A large contributing factor to the decision to remake a game is improving usability. Like if the original game has an engine that does not play well with modern OS's and their features, or if the controls and UI are massively out of date. Considering how well goldsrc/source runs on modern systems compared to games of a similar era, and how the game uses the control scheme quake and every modern FPS uses, HL2 isn't really in desperate need of a remake. And the visuals still hold up well enough that its not distracting, though I could be saying that because of how much time I've spent playing games in source.

ENVIRONMENTS

TF2 receives new content on a moderately regular basis. Yes, there might be a year or so between updates, but that's in contrast to HL2 which is completely abandoned.

So where the fuck are my remakes of these?

If any company can pull that thing out from the hole its valve, in saying that I did enjoy the core game play and would like to see the game back however unlikely that is.

DRIPPING

Gaben is like the Mad King of the video game industry.

>HL3, TF3, L4D3, Portal 3

"BURN THEM ALL" he kept screaming.

"BURN THEM ALL"

(you)

Valve own the rights. Saber Interactive is merely requesting to take the IP and remaster it. Which is up to Valve to decide.

What so hard to understand? And why is this an argument? Game companies refusing other studios are common in the industry.

But would they have added enough ferns?

FULLY

I rather see remaster of half life 2 with its source engine 2.

>half life 2 remake will come out before half life 3
lol

You want a real dev for this kind of shit.

>they would be insane to release it in this day and age, where single-player FPS are a dying breed
Actually it would be even better to release it now when single player FPS are dying out due to incompetence of hte people creating them, to capitalize on that hole left in the market.

How is Saber not a "real dev"? Have you played the excellent World War Z?

Halo CE Anniversary ruined the game in a million ways.

>Halo CE Anniversary ruined the game in a million ways.
Such as? (Bearing in mind they were given Gearbox's monumentally fucked PC port to work with.)

Please don't even try this, the entire thread is already aware of what Saber had done
