Edelgard is the empire route, Blue is the generic hero route, Deer is the ambiguously neutral route. If anything blue will be the main route.

Roy and Chrom are popular. It's why Roy got to return (along with Lucas) and Chrom had support from Japan thanks to the ballot.

The whole reason the argument comes up is because Fire Emblem having as many characters as it does is fucking boring. They're visually samey, they're mechanically samey (aside from Robin), there simply isn't a good reason to have so many characters from this series and there sure as hell isn't a good reason to add even more on top of what we already have. The franchise itself being over-represented doesn't even have to come into the equation.

Marth, Ike, Robin and Corrin are all different from each other and the other swordsmen in the roster. The only issue with Fire Emblem is the abundance of Marth clones.

Stuff like this is why I think one of the DLC is just going end up being a Sword and Shield Pokemon, probably Zacien.

Intelligent Systems doesn't do shit. Sakurai just sees that Fire Emblem has a new game with a new protagonist and decides to add them. With Nintendo in charge, I doubt they'll pick a new FE character.

Think of the differences between Marth, Ike, and Corrin, and then compare to the differences between casts with a similar number of characters like Mario and Pokémon, where the only characters that are even remotely similar to one another at all are the ones that are or used to be clones. Not even Vergeben leaked like this, he was usually like "we're getting a new Pokemon and SE DLC" then later stated the name of the character he heard. None of this "hey it could be this character or that character, that's what my sources told me" and then it turns out it was 100% not those characters.
