I have been mocked in the past for not getting emotional during some of "the great" films and tv shows out there. (I'm a little autistic) But Yakuza and anime can make me emotional because the writing is melodramatic and it's always very clear what I should be feeling. The music helps, but mostly I like that the characters all say clearly how they are feeling and what they are thinking. This helps me understand them and I can feel myself getting emotional from the sad parts.

Just canceled my preorder since it comes out on digital on Thursday. I really hate this trend of delayed physical releases, but I suppose I’m contributing to the problem myself.

I'm sure 3 will get localized eventually since 3-5 HD were specifically made for newcomers in the west. That said I wonder how much will be retranslated if any, supposedly 3's localization wasn't too loved.
Also I'm still not sure if Kazama was still referred to Fuma Oyabun or something in that game. I'm probably confusing it with Y1 PS2.

He was still Fuma in 3. Replaying 3-5 last year I remember the localizing being not as good as 0 but still fine. Like I don't like Majima saying "Kazzy" instead of Kiryu-chan or "Kick in the dick" just sounds unnatural.

Why redo it though? I think it was probably a technical nightmare to translate the new content or because of that they did have to retranslate the game. They don't need to retranslate the game and shouldn't.

it's got some references to the main series, like the tojo clan making an appearance, though you don't need to play the games in the series to know about them, and the tojo clan characters that do appear are all exclusive to this game.

You know the ideal would be someone to play Yakuza 1 but it's not realistic to expect someone to play an old ass PS2 game on a PS2. IIRC it doesn't emulate well yet. I started with Yakuza 1 and I don't even think it's that great of a game. It's just above 3 but every other game is better. 0 is cheap and convenient.

the ono michio-kun costume appears in a substory, and there's a haruka idol statue you can buy for your office, but i think that's the extent of it.

Yakuza Black Panther. JP only games for the PSP, they even had a TV drama for both games. I forgot to mention in the last post Fake Kiryu also showed up as the Dog of Dojima in BP2, that was another cameo.

I heard the localization staff messed up with the content of the last few Yakuza games. What is it about this series that appealed to the woke crowd?

What I mean is I'm not ready to commit to sitting down and playing 7 Yakuza games. I've played a little bit of 0 and I liked it so I'm picking up Judge to get the same kind of experience but not have to play through several games to understand everything that's going on.

Oh, just as a reminder, when you guys do get the game immediately change the drone controls to type B, the default they have is horrible. Type B means L-stick up and down are forward and back, left and right are strafing, R-stick up and down increase and decrease elevation while left and right turn you in that direction. Meanwhile with Type A they have L-stick up and down moving you forward and backwards, left and right turn you left and right, R-stick up and down raises and lowers your elevation, right and left strafe you. I have no idea how this became the default configuration when B makes way more sense. It was almost impossible to fly the damn thing in the tutorial until I saw you could change it later on. It's like they didn't learn from Dead Souls not to put camera controls on the left stick.

There's also a way to fly it with motion controls but you really don't want that since it just turns whatever's on the left stick to motion control (Meaning if you lean it forward you move forward, lean it back you go back, etc).
