The ESRB should seriously drop the AO rating because of how controversial it is. This idea isn't stupid, horrible, or dumb. It's totally ingenious. They should drop it out entirely, and then change the M rating to 18+. That idea isn't stupid, dumb, or horrible either.

ESRB is a joke entirely. The vast majority of parents don't actually use it.

this. Rating systems in general have become a joke and barely matter anymore. Parents will take their kids to see edgy shit these days without much worry.

ESRB aren't as bad as the MPRAA, at least they aren't paid by big studios to give harsher ratings to independent films and kinder ratings to Hollywood blockbusters to squander competition.

How is the MPAA worse?

This doesn't make any sense, there needs to be a distinction between games for mature audiences and porn games, and there's a lot of space between T and M.

While it's stupid, it mostly exists as a standard to ensure a game doesn't go "too far". In an ideal world console makers and retail would leave it to consumers to decide where that line is, but that's not the reality we live in

Wtf is esrb? All I know ever heard about is PEGI.

U.S. equivalent of PEGI

Some still do. I don't see anything wrong with game ratings. All they are is a label to show what kind of content is in a game. Just because some parents are irresponsible doesn't mean they're useless.

It makes great sense, and it isn't stupid either. It's pure ingenious and could happen some point.

I'm not saying parents still don't use it. But the vast majority don't.

>I can't read your argument no guys listen it's good because I said so
You are retarded

Why do American's hate the idea of an 18+ game?
Games like GTA are 18+ here, and rightly so. If anything this rating system had led to teenagers seeing things they probably shouldn't have?

As much as the rating systems are a joke I am happy they are their. Better that than have the government regulate it like Australia.

Australia doesnt have free speech or expression

So are you, prick

>0.01$ has been deposited into your EA account
Literally the only people who whine about the AO rating are people angry that loot boxes in games are going to start giving that game said rating.

>no u
Concession accepted!

I agree honestly
Such that extreme violence can continue with ease while sexual content can be a separate hill to die on (despite our culture promoting indecency in other venues)

MPAA has members in congress that influence bills to limit consumer rights using the "muh piracy" excuse. This doesn't exist at all for ESRB. ESRB was created to stop the government from creating their own rating system and mandating video games by actual law. MPAA is just greedy and encourages such laws to be made.

>They should drop it out entirely, and then change the M rating to 18+. That idea isn't stupid, dumb, or horrible either.

Lumping M games in with AO would mean brick and mortar stores stop selling M games entirely.
