This is the kind of optimization that people have been asking for in a Switch port. Anyone can play current gen games at high graphic settings on any other system. Docked mode is basically reserved for first and second party games as they tailor-made the games to run for it. For third party games (excluding waggling games), the main selling point is the portable mode as it's the only reason why we would get the Switch version over any other version. People are more than willing to sacrifice graphics in exchange for stable performance.

I think we reached a point where more realistic graphics don't really increase enjoyment that much. The Switch's graphics look good enough.

To be fair Dragon's Dogma is up there with Monster Hunter in terms of games I want on the Switch because of how much I play them. Despite being 30fps at least it's stable and not letterboxed, though pop ins are rampant for obvious reasons.

Let's be honest here, XC2 is really not made with portable mode in mind. It's there if you really need to move to another room while playing before quickly returning but so not the preferred way of playing the game.

I live in the US of A, in one of the most modern and advanced cities, and I get frequent power outages and brownouts because we're too cheap and stupid to repair and upgrade our 100+-year-old power grid.

So what were those frame rates. Were they 20fps like you said? Think carefully now, because RDR2 chugged along at 24fps on PS4.

A lot of graphic heavy games do sometimes like RE rev 2, but if you own a Switch you're clearly only there for the games and not because of performance and graphics. Not that it is a bad thing.

Then it's just a slightly better looking awful looking sub-720p sharpening filter mess.
It looks bad in both modes, and it sucks because you can tell that there are some beautiful worlds trapped in shitty hardware.

I live in sweden in some of the smallest counties with the least populations and I haven't had a power outage for the last three years.
And people call us a third world country. At least we have electrical power outside of the storms in the southern parts of sweden.

I can give you one example. Final boss fight on Torna if you look out onto the world and the city while fighting rather than towards the shrine.
I don't think there is a single game which only plays in 20 fps.

All Nintendo has to do is make a console that has the same or better hardware as Sony and Microsoft's systems. Why does Nintendo constantly insist on using old weak hardware, especially when they want to do gimmicks like the Switch's portability?
