>tfw chad catching all the cuties

Dragon Quest Monsters games are pretty fun.

monster rancher

I don't want to collect crummy women though, I want to catch pokemon-like creatures

I love water

Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's Memory

Fossil Fighters.

World of Final Fantasy was pretty fun

based and hydration-pilled

there isn't any, that's why they can allow themselves to be as shit as possible

Digimon World PS1

How the fuck have Bethesda and Gamefreak gotten away with having some of the largest "Niches" entirely to themselves, while also being completely incompetent and having seemingly no drive or vision anymore.

Why haven't they been usurped by someone saying "Hey, what if we did that thing they do, but like, put a lot of effort in and make it actually good?"

Not much else, really.
That's why they can get away with the shit that they do.
Please play Yo-Kai Watch.
It has much more care and passion put into it than Pokemon nowadays.

Shin Megami Tensei

I would, but I played the demo for the first game and the combat bored me to tears. It seems very charming but it also feels like a game made for literal children. I just wasn't engaged by the gameplay that it had to offer at all.

I wish we could get something like Monster Rancher on steam

Well, you'd have to see which states and countries allow bestiality.

>Digimon has multiple partners.
>Yu-Gi-Oh's monsters are real

Attached: a-mandrill-in-facepalm-y-repose.jpg (1240x622, 88K)

try catching pails of water

because no one needed it until fairly recently (past 5-10 years or so)

The very first Digimon manga had tamers with multiple partners you dumb nigger

If the first (and second) game's combat bored try YKW3.
It's grid based instead of wheel based and has more to do with your individual Yo-kai's positioning than which set is in the front/back.
If you still don't like it, that's fine.

Good luck getting a physical version, though.

That Digimon game some weebs were posting that has disgaea/FFT gameplay looks really dope.

Can I start with 2? Is the game more fast-paced than Pokemon? My biggest complaint with the series is that every game feels like a chore if you dont FF.

Absolutely none. Every other monster capturing game is either too kiddie or too shounen because they operate under the assumption that they are fixing Pokemon instead of building upon it. And if you got an exact Pokemon clone, you might as well just play Pokemon then.

None
pokemon is always soulful even today.
all the rest are soulless kock-offs

Good question, I'm still trying to figure that out myself. Monster designs in every other monster capturing game are downright abysmal comparatively considering the sheer amount of work put into MOST Pokemon designs these days. Most other monster capturing monsters just slap shit on randomly and just call it a day it seems.

I have a good feeling that pretty soon we'll see the rise of Pokemon-likes from indies burned out by game freak's bullshit. We're already seeing a lot of them start their own projects on steam, though they all kinda look 8-bit and crummy.

>they operate under the assumption that they are fixing Pokemon instead of building upon it.
What is even the difference?

Yet the pic uses Tai, despite the season being about the kids only having just one partner (Ignoring Hurricane Touchdown).

Most people recommend you start with 2. I think you won't be missing much from 1 if you do.

I hope Pokémon collapsing encourages other devs to start trying to break into the monster collecting genre so this twenty year dark age can finally end.

I always felt like Digimon was always Pokemon's biggest competitor, but I found out today that they don't even have mainline games/gens, I love the monsters designs and I used to play the shit out of World 3, but apparently there is no consistency.

temtem

The games for Digimon had 3 way battles before Pokemon.
Yugioh GX also had monster spirits with some characters having multiple.

Digimon more or less constantly adds shit to the overarching background lore of their world. A shitload of it is inaccesible if you're not versed in moonrunes though so we only get the big chunks from shows or manga.

Yet the original V-Pet just gave you one monster and multiple ways to change it.

Former basically tries to change the core mechanic/setting to be not!Pokemon such as an edgier story or more convoluted battle mechanic while the latter takes the basic premise and expands upon it like the same comfy story/setting with no unnecessary 'an ancient evil awakens' stuff or the combat is still simple but with a deeper type/IV/breeding system or other improvements while still plays like a Pokemon game.

V-Tamer is its own thing and began running several months before Adventure aired

There is consistency nowadays. Every World game was different, but every new one since Re: Digitize is modeled after the first one. The Story games are pretty much just turn based JRPGs, and the new ones do play somewhat differently than the DS ones, but there's still a lot of the same things in place. The new Survive game is the only weird thing to come out this decade

>pokemon style yugioh spin-off
Oh my fuck I need this. I never knew how much I needed this. FUCK

Mugic the gathering

the artwork is sick, sucks it didn't catched on here in the west

Are you sure user?
Remember that one season with Prisman, capsules and Alexander the fucking Great?

Is it worth picking Re: Digitize then?

Well 1 and 2 have the same combat, so I figured if you don't like the wheel system you'd like 3's system instead.
But if you can manage the wheel system absolutely start with 2, preferably Psychic Specters as it has the most content out of all three versions of YKW2.
If you don't constantly pay attention to your Yo-kai things can get hectic really fast, especially on later bosses.

Attached: 46578992_p0.png (767x984, 338K)

Well in that case, maybe you ought to consider that no one plays Pokemon for the plot and that IVs and breeding are and have always been shit

Attached: 250px-Dragonwarrior1.jpg (250x250, 19K)

>literally bricked

Attached: 1560481591225.png (640x480, 442K)

If you have a PS4, I'd say Next 0rder is a better game than Re:Digitize is. Yeah, two Digimon at once seems like a bit much, but it's much easier than it seems once you start bringing back some people to the town

There are none

It's coming back

I really need to start playing it. Is Joker 2 a good starting point?

the 3DS remake of this was fan-translated and easily playable on 3DS emulator, Citra.

>tfw I had to stop Next Order after I cleared that Meat war camp at the drawbridge
>come back a few months later
>be completely fucking lost as to what to do next
I don't wanna start over but boi did I fuck up

Digimon

Id buy a medabots Switch game in a fucking heartbeat

i would buy medabot figurines if they sell them

Pokemon isn't collapsing, it's the same shit as people complaining anytime a new Pokemon comes out, by the time the game comes out everybody's going to buy it anyway, a lot of people will recognize it as shit but it won't matter and they'll keep on making Pokemon and Pokemon will keep on being a huge success like always.

They do, they're models though

BEHOLD MY DARK MAGICIAN

who makes them? nendoroid? i hope they have my favorite medabot available

is good to be a digimon fan

kotobukiya, they have them on amazon, I got Sanjuro

Especially now that people start to see the stellar quality of recent Digimon games.
Thanks for fucking up Gamefreak

I preordered yokai watch 4 from Amazonjp.
I dont know any Japanese.

pokefags will never admit of being wrong and had casual taste in rpg all these years

ok man

Which one?

Azure Dreams.

He's talking about Survive, which doesn't even have a release date yet and gets little news. Feels rare for a Bamco game

Zanzarah.
It's got fully 3d world, with more of a metroidvania design, and combat is real-time FPS (but still with different abilities and elemental RPS). And it was made 17 years ago.

Attached: 577405-zanzarah109.jpg (800x600, 80K)

Thank you. I would love to play an SRPG with Digimons.

No one actually does but because it's so simple, it just adds a small bit of flavor to the overall game instead of overtaking it.

Valkyrie Profile 2
Ni No Kuni Wrath of the white Witch

dragon warrior monsters was pretty based

now they only release in japan

SMT

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a monster raising game trying to have a more involved story

Shin Megami Tensei and Dragon Quest Monster.

Kinda sucks when it gets in the way of me doing fun stuff desu.
I hate when games like this always drag me around by the nose trying to make me care about some dumb bullshit when I just want to explore, capture and train cool monsters.
Pokemon has been getting fucking obnoxious for this.

my game will be out next year. you should wait for that

having sex

If Pokémon fails, It would mean the genre is dead. No one would pick that shit.

Sounds more like a problem with you than a problem with whatever game you're referring to, especially if it's in a different franchise. You can't expect everything to be like gen 1 or whatever

yes,with your mom.

Took way too long into the thread for someone to recommend this series

WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO DO THE SECOND ONE?

Attached: d0.jpg (553x413, 96K)

my mom is probably a skeleton by now

Stop user, I can only get so erect

I hope it's better than Joker 1 because that game sucked ass. Otherwise shown gba game is the best of the monster series

DQMJ3 is amazing though.

Telefang :^) youtube.com/watch?v=iFJ_0h2j-Zk

Best one I've seen on the mobile is EvoCreo flat out. Most are energy-based, most have horrifically badly designed monsters, many cost far too much.
Best ones on PC I've seen are the higher quality fangames and romhacks. Heartbeat doesn't quite count as while it has a similar vibe as Pokemon the setup is party-based with predetermined characters.
With systems... Digimon doesn't really fit but the World/Story series comes close. The Medabots rpg games I guess were close but the combat system was completely different. I guess the closest to a "better alternative to Pokemon" would be Shin Megami Tensei even with how different it is. I'd suggest Yo-Kai Watch but I've never played it.

MODERN DEMI KIDS FUCKING WHEN

Attached: 730865850075.jpg (500x492, 77K)

>Rand gets Magic Flare
>80 HP cost, hu-
>x8 hits
>doesn't matter what it is, unless it's a boss it fucking gets murdered
didn't know what the fuck I was doing with Demikids but I sure did it anyways. I liked the anime's opening song :^)
youtube.com/watch?v=-akeCOgSxpc

>parents claiming pokemon was witchcraft and teaching kids about summoning demons when SMT was close to that but was going unsuspected.

BASED. Yo-Kai watch is surprisingly not very popular in the west. Despite that I HIGHLY recommend you play it. It is legitimately better than modern day Pokemon. I'd say start with the 2nd game (specifically Psychic Specters version) as the main character loses their memory at the start of the game making the first game something ya don't need to play.

Attached: Jibanyan1111.png (400x207, 92K)

>playing the first game
>crossing the streets without pressing the button
>flinched when a yokai screams for not crossing the streets safely
>sweeps the floor with you
>all for crossing the street carelessly

>no card captor sakura, medabots, shaman king, bayblade or JOJO

From what I've gathered, they've abandoned it.

I'm pretty much finished with 3, aside from the Blasters dungeons

this

MGQ paradox.

RIGHT HERE

Attached: 1472151991555.jpg (625x783, 97K)

I'd try some Final Fantasy titles if you just want another RPG, but I hear games like Cyber Sleuth is good if you wanna fill in the void of raising creatures.
