A long fucking game.
No classes for a long fucking while, which means combat will devolve to "hit and heal" for -several- hours. It's not an hyperbole, it's not a joke. At least 20 hours to get to the abbey and the game lasts at least 100 more. Just enjoy the ride.

I’m playing Ace Attorney Trilogy on my switch currently but when I finish I’m gonna play investigations on my 3DS. greatest handheld I ever owned, so many good memories, and now with CFW I can play whatever I want for free.

Performance wise it might run a little better but the game is hard capped at 20 fps. The controls also aren't as good as a regular 3DS with the circle pad pro attachment (remember that?) because the aim and shoot buttons are the inside shoulder buttons.

Not really, the only similarity is that you get to use collectible monsters on battle, the battle system of 1 and 2 is boring, all you do is spin a wheel, a couple minigames and see them do stuff, you should get 3 where the combat is much better, more interactive.

The latter unless you luck into a shop with unsold stock. The only models still being produced right now are the various 2DS/N2DS SKUs.

If you really want a small N3DS, buy Japanese and softmod it to get around the region lock/switch your region entirely.

They’re cheaper since N3DSes weren’t locked behind bundles and LEs there. Also, Japs tend to take very good care of their vidya in general, so you’re less likely to get stuck with a machine that someone’s dog used as a chew toy.

Are you kidding? You’re playing through the best the series has to offer aside from AAI2.

The only legitimate complaint about Trilogy is that the spritework doesn’t look as nice as in the DS releases since they used the mobile version’s sprites as the base.

The 3D effect is really not worth it. The 2DSXL is unironically the best version of the console. Only competition is the small NN3DS for resolution obviously.

The worst dragon quest, but it still fun. The random rate is kind high, the dungeon's corridor is too narrow to avoid the battles. You'll be playing a vanilla hit-and-heal jrpg for 20 hours, until you finally meet the shrine.

More or less, when it comes to the JP side of things, there are two upcoming games last I checked, some random war simulator (retail) and a port of a mobile game announced by Nintendo that's probably dead (probably digital too). Overseas we have Shakedown Hawaii coming soon and there's the recently announced Atooi collection which is just 3DS shovelware repackaged in a 3DS cartridge, and there may be more 3DS games coming from Limited Run Games but those are just retail versions of already released games.

I played it on ps2 and personally I think that being able to avoid every fights break the tension.

Back then you were forced to be cautious when going outside, and you couldn't save anytime and anywhere. I feel overpowered on 3ds and it's ruining everything. If only it was possible to activate back the random encounters...

I don't remember exactly, but there was some compability issue with that file i took from my other 3DS and the one i tried to fix ended up being unable to even boot up at all.
I would just use the old 3DS still, but all the buttons on it are worn out too much to be usable.

Magic is ALWAYS OP in RF, 4 isn't the exception.

One hand sword is fast, versatile, strong and can stunlock nicely, only bad point is that you can attack only one enemy at the time.

2 hand sword hits hard and has a huge ass range so is good against multiple enemies, not super slow but still watch your timing.

Spear is average at everything, it can do everything although averagely, slightly weak but not so much, just... average.

Hammer/Axe deal hueg damage and send enemies fliying, is slow but truly powerful.

Gloves are both fast and strong, you will like it if you like how Whooly micah played in RF3, a tad overpowered.

Dual swords are OP as all fucking hell, Kirito would shit his pants.

Lastly you can be a support/heal slut and let your monsters do the hard work, they will brutalize everything and everyone.

1. get Anemone.cia and load it up with your cfw
2. go to theme plaza and download the ones you like
3. Anemone acts like a theme nanager, use it to install backgrounds/bgm's
4. profit

You can forge weapons, you can give any weapon any element with the correct materials, you can give them ailments or even HP steal, you can use any weapon skill with any weapon or farming tool, so you could like I don't know use the fucking watering can to kill stuff and it will actually work.

Monsters and other stuff you forge can also be customized.

it's not the worst dragon quest at all. if i had to pick the worst it would be between 6 or 9, and even still i think those games aren't bad.

I managed to pick up a n3dsxl on eBay for $60. The L trigger didn’t work, but that was only a $10 fix and 30 minutes of my time. eBay is the way.

I have a flea market ten min from my house every sunday, planni g to get one there.

These are the only other 3DS games I have.

Old 3DS has a good SNES emulator now so I've been playing the recently completed Thracia translation on it. It's really good, way better than I had expected. Already easily my favorite in the series.

Good news user, I posted in one of these threads a few months ago saying someone broke my n3ds' screen but I got it fixed. Slapped some screen protectors on it too to lower the chances of something like this happening again.

I lent my 3ds to someone and he apparently told me he "closed the top too hard" and cracked the top screen. It would of never happened if it was in my hands and I don't blame the person I lent it to because I know it's a legitimate accident.

Anyway it's pretty hard to get your screens broken unless you drop it or try and break the screens. It's a usual don't be an idiot situation and get screen protectors.

Damn, i can see it happening on a O3DS due to the borders of the bottom screen being elevated, got some scratches on my top screen because of them, but to break it on a N3DS where the borders are carved in must take some tremendous strength

I played it, such a nice game, specially if you are a fan of MH.

If you have luma installed and updated to the latest there is literally no benefit to staying on older firmware the last update was to fix something on Europe servers and that was it

Not quite, for starters you fight alongside your monster, you are weaker than them obviously but still fight and could pack a punch specially if you use hammer.

You craft armor and weapons for your character like in mainline, there is a story with funny characters and all.

the combat is simple rock paper ad scissors, there are 3 kind of attacks, power, speed and technic, if you get the advantage you deal more damage and increase a bar to do a super attack.

You get the monsters from nests, usually guarded by a big monster, the monster you get depends on the rarity of the nest, they appear randomly across the map, the silver and golden ones will have stronger and rarer monsters inside.

You can play god and customize the monster by literally changing it's genes with the genes of other monsters, changing their elements, their attacks, their stats.

You can mount all the monsters on the map, including the ones that fly and the ones that swim they have field abilities, like Khezu that will roar to scare enemies, or bulldrome that will dash to go faster, there is a deeper bond between the MC and it's monsties.

The controls are fine, the problem is that it'll hurt your hand if you don't hold it properly, you can just extend your pinky to support it, or press the system with your right hand when using the stylus or just do what i did and raise your knee to support the 3DS on it, get past the control barrier and you'll have a legit 10/10 game in your hands

RF4, Disney magical world, Monster Hunter games are also very demanding and will consume your life if you let them do it, they can easily reach the 1000 hours.

AC is a good time for that if you're willing to sink time in. Had a free expansion update that added even more crap to the game.

Is there a trick to get into MH or will it just happen naturally? The only time i tried it was when my cousin insisted on me playing it so from the get go we started with some multiplayer stuff where he kept leading me around to do a bunch of shit i didn't know anything about and getting all this good loot for me on his own and i gotta say it wasn't a very pleasing experience at all, never came back to try to enjoy it on my own but i'm definitively down for a huge timewaster

its hard to get into it, its frustrating even for "veterans" that have +300 hours in, i would recommend trying it out at your own pace some other time, great games for sure

Monster hunter is a game that is best enjoyed when played slowly, try it, try all the weapons, you will find one that fits your tastes.

Part of the fun of MH is to start weak and then become a strong ass super hunter, you will notice your hunting skills increasing as your gear get better.

I beat it a couple years back. PSO isn't that complicated once you get into it, monster hunter is guiltier in that regard. Though, if you can, just install blueburst on pc and play through the entirety of the first game there since zero is (kinda) a prequel

Recently discovered Sonic Advance 3 and I've been really enjoying it. It has a fun team mechanic where your team mates give you special powers. Give that a shot also.

I've tried it multiple times, and I just feels like a game for really young players. Tons of tutorial, really slow movement speed, and it's level based. I really would not recommend it at all, it doesn't do anything of what makes the other pikmin games good.

Yeah, bounced off of it several times thinking that I wasn't really getting it, but after like the third time, I just realized that I was really bored.

It's a psp thumbstick, apparently it's the same peg, so you just have to swap them, by opening up the console, or just gouging out the thing.
