About to boot this bad boy up for the first time. Anything I should know?
Getting resistance to around 30 ASAP will make your life much easier
Pick black bombs
Uninstall the game if you lose to the asylum demon
No just play it and get off Yea Forums ASAP
you can beat the whole game in a few hours if you know what to do and where to go, so if you feel like you've totally messed up the way you've allocated points, it's not neccearily the end of the world to start a new file
vitality and endurance should probably be prioritied
don't attack npcs
have fun
OP, if this is your first Soulsborne game in general, please please please don’t consult guides. The game shows you where to go possibly more than you realize. Very few challenges are that hard if you take your time and listen to what the game is trying to teach you. Prepare for kino.
>being this bad at rolling and finding dry land
hope you enjoyed your fucking endless Quelaag fight retard
Don't listen to this dickhead. The only things you need to know for mechanics are: don't level resistance, at all, and pick a weapon you like. Upgrade that weapon and the stat associated with it. For big swords and hammers and shit, strength, for daggers, katanas and shit like that, dexterity. You're done. You now know everything you need to know.
Don't level resistance, it's useless and only gives you slightly more defense and status resistances.
If a wall looks out of place then just fucking wack it.
>black bombs
This is a troll, OP. Master Key and git gud. Bombs are for Redditors and journalists
stop larping, nobody would create a thread instead of jumping right into the game
I've platinumed bloodborne and 100% the old hunters. I'm guessing the controls aren't as smooth. Thanks for the advice
Use piromancy it only requires some attunement and it''s very strong
Having a great time with this so far. Played bloodborne and Sekiro before it and got it on sale on Switch where it runs surprisingly well even if it looks and sounds distinctly last gen. Absolutely loving it. The world layout feels better than either of those games. I’m constantly blown away when I find myself back in Firelink.
I just beat Blighttown and the feeling of climbing up all those ladders and seeing the sky again was so fucking kino
>Master Key
>Letting him skip Blighttown first playthrough.
All must suffer their first time there.
>master key
>on your first playthrough
Just kys
Glad you're enjoying it, the game is really fantastic.
How else is he supposed to get the best weapon in the game in a way that doesn't take four hours
But user, he can get the Zweihander as soon as he gets to Firelink
Spend a lot of time on early enemies learning parry timings and roll timings. I played Bloodborne first too and the dodge mechanics in this game are fucking JANKY to get down. But once you do, it feels great. Don’t hide behind your shield by any means, but I also found that the game kinda is designed for you to keep a finger near or on L1 as you do other evasive maneuvers, which took some getting used to
You don’t need bombs for the Falchion son
Just downloaded this again, had it for ps3/4 but for $30 got remastered and 3+dlcs so figured might as well.
I don't recall it being so easy. Kinda weird, and I went magic build back on console too.
>start up, whatever i'll go a str build this time
>kill black night, get sword
>kill every boss in under a minute
ok.
Level nothing but dex and hp, learn to roll.
If you cut the hellkite drake's tail, you are a fagget.
Don't level up resistance.
Don't level up above 40 except vitality.
Most important stat is endurance.
Don't improve too many different weapons at the same time. Focus on only one at first.
Don't start in the graveyard.
Have fun
I think you mean DEX and END. VIT is for people who don’t know how to avoid getting hit
Any weapon that requires me to level dex as a bandit is a dexfag weapon and therefore a dexfag weapon
>Don't level up above 40 except vitality
vitality's soft cap is 30, 30 VIT, 40 END, the rest in your main stat
>Don’t hide behind your shield Don’t hide behind your shield
Bullshit, rolling or using a shield is a choice that should be made based on stamina consumption, rolling is a bad option sometimes
What's the best class in your opinion?
Play the game, have fun, don't read up on shit it's pretty logical and easy.
Theres very few options where shields are better than rolling, and those basically require havel's shield.
Get lots of Vitality and Endurance on your first playthrough so you can survive most of the areas. Explore a lot, there are plenty of hidden bonfires.
BK weapons break the game hard, that's why you're finding it easy
Level resistance first and foremost blight town is impossible without it and it’s fairly early in the game.
Hah, for example vs the Sanctuary Guardian , when he does a big combo with his claws is better to use the shield (Shield is a very bad option if he charges, but very good if he shoots electricity) as I said it depends on what are you doing
Nah*
>being this bad at rolling
>being this bad at combat
>being this bad at exploring
>giving advice to other people on how to play Dark Souls
>switch to dragon weapon
>w-well dragon weapons break the game!
>switch to axe
>well str weapons are easy!
>use intro zweihander
>well that's just a broken weapon!
>use katana
>bleed is OP!
>use bandit dagger
>lol crit parries
>use magic
>well range is easy mode!
bit of a trend here.
the better option is to roll to his side.
It's almost unplayable if you've already played Bloodborne or Sekiro, it's so damn slow.
Wrong just don't fat roll dumbass
a lot of walking
untrue, i played BB before dark souls 1, and i like Ds1 more
Absolutely trash opinion. I played those first and was worried I’d find this clunky. The controls took some adjustment for sure, but that adjustment is worth it for the perfect world layout and super fun bosses and lore imo.
is better to use the shield and walk towards him and them change to 2hands side, less risky and doesn't spends more stamina than a roll
Here's some ACTUAL advice.
1. Do not take master key at start. It lets you get to endgame areas early. Will only confuse you until you know the game better.
2. Do not level resistance. It's not worth it.
3. Only consult a guide if you get really stuck. Best part f the game is the discovery of new areas or how to beat something.
Towards his side*
I live Dark Souls but DS1 was a clunky mess that's only defended for nostalgia. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If you boomers loved it then continue loving it. Just admit that it wasn't great.
A guide is good for finding bonfires
That's a no, you can't skip Blighttown no matter what you do. Even the Valley of Drakes entrance requires a shorter stint through it, but you still must kill Quelaag to open Sen's Fortress and access Anor Londo, as well as go back there to access the Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith for the Lord Soul there.
Don't kill any NPCs for god's sake. They're all important at some point, so leave the killing for before the final boss.
Also, get the Zweihander in the cemetery. That's your endgame weapon.
>Dark Souls
>Boomers
You're wrong, it's a millennial game
>Get remastered version
>Custom build gaming computer with $3000 in parts
>get to blighttown
>10 fps
right in the nostalgia.
You can get the Demon's Great Hammer by trading a Bag to Snuggly at the Undead Asylum. The Bag always drops from the undead butcher duo early on in the Depths.
Pirate the good version of the game.
Play through the game blind at first, then use a wiki for NG+. Don't ruin the experience for yourself.
Backstabs are ridiculously powerful in this game. They are low risk/massive reward, can be chained, augmented with the hornet ring... and they take a single animation frame to activate. Imagine a TF2 spy free-for-all and that's DS1 pvp. Oh, and dark bead. Just play offline, it'll be more fun.
Is it just me or is the Switch port actually not shit?
user, some millennials are in their 30s now.
If you're using any kind of sorceries level Dex to 45, because from 35-45 Dex decreases your casting time.
Retard you can skip blighttown
>If you boomers loved it
holy shit some people are dumb as a brick, even for this board's standards
I got all the achievements in prepare to die. Should I get remastered? Better yet, should I just kill myself?
Greatshield of Artorias begs to differ.
to add to this it's even possible to beat the game without ever levelling up, so if you think you need to grind to get past some part, you probably just need a new strategy.
>They are low risk
One of the easiest ways to get backstabbed is by going for a backstab yourself.
Boomers are far older than 30-40 now
>Better yet, should I just kill myself?
why not, you should be prepared to die by now.
>you can’t skip Blighttown
>describes skipping Blighttown and going to Quelaag’s Domain the back way
wdhmbt
Either go for DEX or STR.
Best STR weapon is at the start of the game in the spooky scary skeleton cemetery.
Best DEX weapon is dropped by the Balder knights, you will have to grind them for a while tho.
INT any other build is for homosexuals, the game is cheap and basically a one trick pony with shitty traps that will get you but only the first time you see them, upgrade your favorite weapon as much as you can, is important.
yes, and after millenials come genxers, your meme is stupid faggot
>this new
My Switch did a consistent 30 there. Maybe you should upgrade
No you can't faggot. You need to ring both Bells of Awakening to get to Sen's Fortress, there's no way around it. Using the Master Key lets you skip the Depths and the far entrance through Blighttown, but you must enter the area even if you enter through the Valley of Drakes. And you don't even need the Master Key for that, because you can get to the Valley of Drakes from Darkroot Basin and Darkroot Basin from the Undead Parish.
>endgame
it gets obsolete as soon as the bell gargoyles. For a strenght build, the serpent-man blade is the best weapon you can find "easily"
My man!
>saying faggot to try to fit in on babby’s first day on 4channel dot org
After you beat the 1st boss make sure to visit the graveyard with the skeletons. You have to beat all of them to get your 1st armor set upgrade.
You are such a cunt.
>killing like two spiders and running past boulder guys
>in any way comparable to BLIGHTTOWN, where you get burned by dogs, succed by zombies, and have to get better at selectively pulling ogres so you don’t get btfo into the void
Everyone knows you have to kill Quelaag, dipshit. But you are skipping Blighttown.
just get a fucking axe. the greataxe is in the sewers, the dragon axe which doesn't require upgrades comes from the gaping dragon, but easy mode to get. The zwei should be more than enough to get you there.
The firekeeper soul is a bullshit upgrade that tells you a lie of omission. If you want it to upgrade your health you have to take it to a certain npc. If you use it it just restores health, not increase it.
This is the only part of the game I consider flat out unfair.
I really want this game on switch because the ptd on pc is basically empty nowadays but I don't have the dough to pay for it, I'll now proceed to kill myself
Did you get tricked into doing a resistance build on your first playthrough, user?
It’s on sale until tomorrow though?
The game warns you if you really want to use them when you try to eat one, you know.
Chameleon is the best sorcery
Don't trust the NPC's lies, you should kill them all for good loot.
This, kill them all OP, kill them all but the girl that is inside a jail because she is cute.
Dusk is best girl
But she drops a firekeeper soul
what? No it isn't, you got my hopes up and made me open the eshop when it's still full-priced
No points in resistance, max level for co-op is 120. Stats all most "soft cap" at 40.
Weapons have scaling based on damage stats so use your brain(I.E a sword with C scaling in str and dex with benefit from 20 in both compared to a curved sword with an A scaling in dex which would benifit from 40 in dex).
That's all you really need to know.
I mean, you killed all the other firekeepers so, yeah, you need her, so let her be the last NPC alive and kill her before killing the old man if you want.
Huh? It was on sale for the E3 sale. I know because I bought it a day before the Nintendo conference and complained that they discounted it the next day and got like $10 of gold points
>max level for co-op is 120
Absolutely no one is playing through the game at 120 anymore.
It's hard enough finding co-op partners even when you're at an appropriate level for an area.
You thought you were having fun?
Are you an amerifat? Because here in poorland it wasn't on sale even for the e3 sale
it's empty everywhere though
I think what they are trying to say is that you can skip 99% of blighttown via the locked elevator. You have to fight quelaag no matter what.
I dont know why I love this series so much
Is the remaster exactly the same as the original, or is the gameplay as smooth as 3?
Just use the fucking Whip like a chad.
Remastered includes
>60 fps
>Updated textures and lighting
>Bonfire next to Vamos
>Artorias of the Abyss DLC
>1080p
>Phantoms can heal with Estus
>Hold the consumable button to auto select your first slot's item
>Can purchase the Dried Finger
And I think Gravelording works properly now
Because it uses none of the Remastered 'enhancements.' It's literally the original game at a better resolution and framerate with added portability.
so the gameplay is still clunky garbage
alright, thanks
was wondering if I should get it but I guess that answers it
Fuck that sale was brief. I should have bought it when I had the chance
Start as a bandit, then grind until you can hold the zwei once you get to fatass and pikachu
My last run I decided to run for the Great Scythe before anything else. I got there after an hour of dying. Then I used Vamos' bonfire. I had to go all the way back up to Firelink the hard way. Even worse considering I didn't even have the stats to use the Scythe properly to I was SL1, trying to navigate up Bonewheel Valley with a Dagger and all my armor off so I could run faster.
It was a traumatic experience.
Oops i mean thief
I did the same, except to get the Gravelord Greatsword. I love that thing's design and the stab poke is satisfying as hell.
Yes I am a burger. I play dark souls in my 500 square foot bathroom regularly.
I’m enjoying it a lot. I like being able to do titanite farming in bed on handheld. The sound compression is a bit frustrating but Blighttown stays at consistent 30. None of the visual improvements of actual Remaster but I don’t really play From games for the graphics
Grief ahead.
>titanite farming
just buy it from the blacksmith, retardo
Be prepared to play one of the greatest games ever made. Be prepared to experience the shocking aesthetic of the game's pacing. Be prepared to feel as though you are never enough, but to know you have no choice. be prepared to experience a game that leaves you marveling at yourself.
And then be prepared to play it's sequels and wonder what the fuck went wrong.
It’s amazing. I never imagined that dark souls could be comfy
youre up against a big intimidating boss? get on his crotch/ass area and wack away. If you keep your distance you’ll more than often die to some bullshit long range attack
>Bonfire next to Vamos
How casual have they made this game?
They didn't? People wanted that.
