Leaks came out that made the story elements sound so good that it seemed completely impossible.
Famitsu published some articles on the gameplay that actually didn't sound so bad, making some people cautiously optimistic.
E3 trailer was not only good, but proved the earlier leaks to be at least partially real, generating a ton of hype for the story.
Treehouse showed off more gameplay including competently designed maps. Now instead of looking like a Fire Emblem with shit play and shit story, it looks like both will be solid.

Easiest games to get into are FE7(just called Fire Emblem in the west since it was the first game localized), FE Awakening, and FE8. All of them are super easy.

There's not ones to really avoid for them being bad but FE5 is a mid-quel to FE4 and it's apparently pretty hard so you might want to save those for last, they're also pretty dated.

FE1, 2, and 3 have been remade as 11, 12, and 15 respectively so you don't have to play those.

I feel there needs to be a chart like this for FE but I doubt one would be agreed upon

FEW was genuinely pretty good. The only things that really sucked were the roster, and the weapon/class distribution, since that’s what determined which moveset the character got, unlike HW where the moveset was tailored specifically for its weapon. The devs did listen to fan feedback though, even patching QoL improvements with the major updates. I’m positive that FEW2 will genuinely be even better.

Mario Odyssey is good but not great. With the maps being embarrassingly small and the missions being repetitive, there's little to no replay value. Outside of the story, there's nothing memorable about the game. Like think about it, a fucking Mario game where the story is it's strongest suit.

It really is. It’s been pretty tough collecting artworks of my favourites. All I’ve really found so far were the main characters. M!Byleth, F!Byleth, Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude, and Sothis. Things will probably pick up a little once the game drops.
