It probably stands out more in daylight compared to all the darker and dimlighted scenes we've seen him in at the moment. If you consider the characters only or at least partially them because of their original design and not mostly because of personality and story, I think there is a bigger issue of bad writing.
I can look clearly tell it is Tifa seeing her black and white attire. I can clearly tell it is Aerith with her red jacket and somewhat changed, yet pinkish dress underneath and Cloud's haircolor and uniform despite the color change. And the same goes with Barret.
But as I said, if these characters you still easily can tell who is who by just looking at them is an issue for most people, the game probably has a bigger problem with writing (which is why most people like the game for as far as I've understood).
