Mass Effect deserved better than those garbage sequels it got. Those sequels are non-canon fan fiction filler. Agree with this OP.

2 was still kino, even if it did the retarded reset of everything you achieved

I agree.
I still enjoy 2, but not as much.

Mass Effect was garbage period. Why do so many shit taste having faggots keep pretending this shit was good in the first place?

Attached: 1559922880255.gif (400x287, 1.04M)

Sequels were good

Attached: 1558740378403.gif (500x200, 662K)

ME2 was like a soft reboot for a series that at that point didn't even really become a thing so it was garbage no.

ME1 has aged horribly
2>3>1

When i first played, ME1 was my favourite, but when i replayed whole trilogy once again i can really tell which one i like the most, this is one whole thing

ME1 stands perfectly on its own, the story is finished, just ignore the sequels as spinoffs.

Attached: 1555998996997.jpg (800x1200, 294K)

Because the first game despite its flaws had a lot of good going for it. It had a lot of heart and dare I say it, soul, put into the game.

Attached: Choose carefully.jpg (1920x1080, 162K)

So it's pretty clear now that these Mass Effect threads are all started by the same ME1 sperg

First gaem gud second gaem baed fags are so annoying.

It had none of those, the only reason people bring this shit series up is because of the smut and that's the god honest truth.

Attached: 1556201936902.jpg (851x938, 73K)

ME1 had an interesting galaxy with solid worldbuilding and a variety of complex species.

The biggest issue with Mass Effect was the story of the Reapers. It would have been way better setting up a TES-like series where every game is about a new threat that's contained to one game.

You could even keep Shepard and have your choices carry over to the sequels, just without everything telescoping into another le epic space war.

If it was just ME1, Liara.

She turns to shit in ME2 and 3 due to being the devs' waifu.

>It would have been way better setting up a TES-like series where every game is about a new threat that's contained to one game.

So like sagas from DB/DBZ/DBS?

Threadly reminder that the story of 1 is so god damn stupid that it makes 3 look good and that the entire conflict over the Conduit has no reason to happen in the first place.

>When the last tiny flash of heat in the universe dies and all descends into entropy, my hatred will remain.
I fucking love that line every time I read it.

Attached: 1506245651782.jpg (340x340, 65K)

I guess?

ME1 - The Reapers are stopped. They're coming, but there's no real hope of them getting here in a timely fashion. Conventional FTL travel and shit, they'll take centuries to arrive.

ME2 - Reaper remnants among the Geth, introduce the Collectors as a failsafe to subjugate the galaxy so when the weaker, possibly reduced Reaper forces arrive in a few centuries they'll just walk in with no resistance.

ME3 and from there on out - New shit

>rachni
>genophage
>geth/quarian conflict
>black matter
>the half complete human reaper in the hands of cerberus if you don't destroy the collector base
>human/batarian animosity
>krogan/salarian & turian relations

I'm not even mad that they solved some of these so quickly in me3 but that fucking ending put a fucking boulder on the franchise, there's no way to make a sequel out of it except by picking a canon ending (realistically destruction) or scrapping them entirely and making a new one, i don't believe they wanted to put an end to the franchise as there were so many things to do with the me universe and so much potential dor other stories, but it's what they did

I want a mass effect with the quality of life improvements of 2 and the rpg elements of 1. Never ever.

they trapped themselves with the Arrival DLC

No piss off, the first game is mediocre and has aged horribly

They trapped themselves with the first game

They're ok games by themselves but yeah, certainly don't live up to what the original set out to do.
If they were seen as spinoffs or something that'd be ok.
What's worse is there's nothing really to fill the void. Starfield or whatever that game Bethesda is making will be garbage like all Bethesda games. There's no one else even attempting anything like it.

>lol j/k! Reapers have other means of getting back!
>...
>okay, we got reapers here. How are we supposed to solve this?
>...
>...
>Eh, make up some deus ex machina and some starkid. Make sure we see that kid a lot even though he did nothing before.
>Mmmmm....also make sure there are chase scenes with the kid. Why? Er, PTSD?

They'd been planning on the trilogy shit since day one, it just was clear they didn't actually write a 3 act epic before they started the series. Or if they did it got thrown out for more sex scenes and action setpieces.

If they went into ME1 and said it was about exploration, encountering the alien world, and eventually STOPPING a galactic threat, then made subsequent games without a narrative throughline it would have been better long term.

lolno, first game had a self contained story, they handled ME1 perfectly
but they shit the bed with the start of ME2, only downhill from there

Or several rewrites happened during production, along with some games being rushed.
Any sequel to the first game would have to address the reaper threat.

What threat? They were trapped in dark space. We took away their only access here.

>doesnt know ME3's plot was written on a napkin

>Any sequel to the first game would have to address the reaper threat.
yeah, but if they had a decent writer maybe they wouldnt have killed shepard in the first 5 minutes, resurrect him immidiately and then shoehorn us into Cerberus

>Hyper intelligent machines that has mastered the arts of mind control, FTL and energy
>Only has one way to access the galaxy and if that fails then they got nothing
Is that what you want? You want "Danny forgot about the iron fleet" level of writing? Because that's what you're asking for

the sequels truly sucked, 1 was flawed but good

Mass effect is garbage.

The great debate.

Attached: 1536681320201m.jpg (1024x563, 99K)

Anything else except "lol, we just took out shortcuts, they'll be here anyway in under 3 years. And no one prepared for them because people in our galaxy are idiots!"

>two entirely different games
both have its good and bad sides

And yet Mass Effect 2 made it into the Smithsonian museum, while ME1 just became a WHAT COULD HAVE been if it was fully realized like ME2.

Then go watch game of thrones because it sounds like that series has the kind of writing you want

>the quality of life improvements of 2

It wasn't quality of life improvements across the board though. It is admittedly way more polished and for the most part the combat is better but still not completely better than the first. Thermal clips for one example was very idiotic and ruined what the first game was going for. There was no need for it other than to make it similar to other TPS for casuals.

Uh, what kind?

The setting is the same except one has better story, art design and music.

It's certainly true that narratively they pidgeonholed themselves with the reaper story but during the first game's release and marketing cycle this was billed as a 3 game space opera epic in the style of star wars or revelation space. That was a fairly novel concept at the time. We didn't see a lot of games with continuous storylines preserved into their sequels. It just really started to fall apart when it became apparent that the 3 game 'epic' was being written on the spot and there was no actual narrative framework for the series as a whole. Also Mac Walters is a garbage writer in general and 100% of his ideas are trash.

>interesting galaxy
Literally every planet. Go to this generic base, kill these generic mercenary npcs. Simple text pop up YOU DID IT!. Rinse repeat for every planet.
>complex species
Literally every companion was just an info dump especially Tali, none of them besides Liara became developed until the sequel, even Garrus was basic af in ME1 with his 1-2 lines of dialogue through the entirety of the time him being on the ship. Companion missions? oh go to a generic base no different from the 9293932932 you went through, kill the same generic npcs, get wrex armor back, text pop up YOU DID IT.

It's time to stop overrating ME1.

>first person military casual shooter vs 3rd person action RPG adventure
youre a brainlet my dude

Well I'm going to say Halo is more iconic but I think Mass Effect's soundtrack is better and did a better job of doing what it wanted to go for. So good job to Sam and Jack.

only similar in the fact both are set in space, stop trying to start fights over dumb shit

>And yet Mass Effect 2 made it into the Smithsonian museum

The shills simply did a fantastic job of shilling it like its some masterpiece.

>ignoring sci-fi part and every other point
The only brainlet here is you.

VIRMIRED

1>3>2

If you knew anything about Mass Effect 2's development you would know it did more damage to the series than 3 ever did.Frankly speaking all the bad elements that everyone blames 3 over were started in 2.

>ME1
>Tyrone Shepard, Earthborn, Ruthless
>The baddest, blackest Canadian in the Milky Way
>Punch Al-Jilani
>Kill Rachni Queen
>Ashley survives Virmire
>Kill Council
>Pick Udina for Council
>ME2
>Punch Al-Jilani
>Shoot Conrad on foot, dies later
>Kill Samara over Morinth
>No ship upgrades
>Crew gets kidnapped
>Do a bunch of random assignments and take my sweet time
>Go through the Omega 4 Relay
>Jack eats a lazor, dies
>Kasumi gets blasted, dies
>Thane gets impaled, dies
>Volunteer Jacob to vents, dies
>Legion leads distraction team, dies
>Garrus escorts Chakwas back, dies
>Cocky Miranda holds biotic bubble, Tali gets seeker swarmed and dies
>Kill babby Reaper, Mordin in squad dies
>Miranda leading the ground team dies, Grunt too
>Shepard makes it out alive
>Keep the base
>ME3
>Punch Al-Jilani

>Only Zaeed made it out alive that day

mass effect fuckin sucks dude
it popularized the dialogue wheel and summarized dialogue options which is still plaguing RPGs to this day

And the Biodrones have embraced it

Give us a short post on why 2 ruined things user.

I thought my acid reflux was cured, fuck you

Attached: 1556648688689.png (411x405, 62K)

they aim for 2 different audiences

Attached: 1533334120835.png (680x621, 541K)

Funny thing, BioWare finally just patched that out because trannies can't be pleased. Now he only mentions it if you help him get married...to a guy, of course.

They also patched the new alien into being bi, supposedly it was going to save the game

Just give more opportunities to dick Tali and the complaints would have been lessened

Attached: 1546272827026.jpg (800x880, 249K)

Do you tell the guy?

Bioware has never made a SINGLE good game

Pretending these busted up janky pieces of shit are good is top tier neckbeard territory, by the way. At least Andromeda and 3 have really generic but working gameplay. 2 and 1 literally play like grinding your balls on sandpaper

Attached: 1560717742567.gif (300x200, 1.57M)

Would bringing Shepard back save Bioware?
Because the end is nigh.

At their best, both are great. But Halo's music is consistently good and Mass Effect has some dodgy songs.

> trusting bioware at this point
> a mass effect reboot without drew karpyshyn
bioware is dead. dragon age will be the final nail and EA will pull the plug

I thought Anthem was supposed to be the final straw?

I don't want another BioWare game. Put the sick old dog down.

They should've died with Andromeda yet they're still around. What is EA thinking?

>Mass Effect brainlet seething that Halo is the better sci-fi series
Lmao

2 was fine. 3 shit the bed. Andromeda is already forgotten.

The studio that made Andromeda WAS shut down after its release. They were not the same studio that made the original Mass Effect trilogy.

>when the journos tried to shame Automata and praise Andromeda over muh stronk womyn
They can't even pay for shills anymore.

You would never be happy with it in anyway. Even when there's aliens who don't conform to humanity's exact norms you can't stomach it.

Andromeda was self contained, true, but not the first of their roll of mistakes. From DA2 onwards they went full retard

2 was way better than 1 and 3 was not as bad after they fixed the ending. Drop your nostalgia goggles

Attached: 90bb8878ef294851732af0c27d3794d9.jpg (736x736, 92K)

every narative issue you'll find in ME2 and 3 stems from ME1 bullshit, be it the reapers, the terrible gameplay, and awfull goody two shoes vs pointless asshole
Me1 was never good and only got popular because people were (and still are) starving for space opera RPG

Nothing in Mass Effect 1 meant that ME2 should be a glorified sidequest.

>implying
They made them MORE human despite people claiming in the past they're just blue-painted women wearing a head prop by giving them contemporary human gender politics that have the additional effect of dating the game.

Furthermore, I never believed the asari were women, and the mystery of what was there before was far more interesting than the "clarified" garbage ME:A foisted on them.

...

you right, been some time since I've played it, that seems far more interesting

Your opinion is fact of the highest value

>Mass Effect soundtrack is better
Implying
m.youtube.com/watch?v=wbkQ99OxQJU

>that dead as fuck general

Damn LMAO

Come on, man

ME1 was every bit as mediocre as the sequels...with much worst combat.

Besides the obvious le first person shooter Halo had the better worldbuilding, art design, aliens, weapons, vehicles, ships and plot so how exactly is it 2 different audiences?

Those cucks have nothing to blame but their own selves for killing off their own franchise.

>inb4 they remake the trilogy
Don’t give them ideas man

False

Just posted twice in that thread and still nobody wants to touch the thread. Its truly over.

Don't be in denial. ME1 was the best of the three in terms of story for sure, it felt more like a Bioware RPG than future titles did. But let's not try to pretend that ME2 and ME3 are non-canonical. You'll just need to accept it and move on.

The third choice is the correct answer.

Honestly, this anons reaction is completely justified and I feel his pain.

not really
Halo is a cool game but its to much focused on the shooter part whilst Mass Effect concentrated to believable world building and storytelling
its retarded to compare the two

*Blocks your path*

Attached: Kai_Leng_Profile.jpg (900x900, 440K)

*skips cutscene*

What was his problem?

>great story
>great setting
>great design
no

based

accurate

why did we allow the gaming industry to get centralised in california ?

No I like ME2 fuck you. I tried playing the first one but I kept dying.

Theyre all bad games. Really corny and lackluster everything. I played the first and second but watched the third. They get worse each game and the first is just viewed through rose tinted glasses too much. Replay it actually and youll see it blew. Fuck bioware
