Hate on Stronghold 2 is overblown and Legend while similar feels like they ran out of the money and all campaigns are half-assed. Also it seems that they got scared by hate on S2 features and removed a lot of them. Too much imo, especially with how simplified villages are in it. I haven't played any stronghold beyond that.

At least they finally are making separate factions aside (Legends doesn't count, it had mercenaries as unique units). Everyone in every other strategy game did that years ago already. I really disliked their mercenary system that bypassed entire detailed production of equipment European troops had. I'd prefer if Crusader introduced Arabians as separate faction instead of that lazy system where they simply buy troops instantly with nothing else than money required.

That's not even mentioning how exploitable shit is because you could place ox tethers even in enemy territory, without castle distance limit. I remember cheesing the AI to fuck by just barricading their gatehouses with ox tethers and watched their economy tank, before sending horse archer rushes in to take care of defenders.

A small price to pay to kill every AI, even Lionheart, Saladin or Wolf relatively easily.

The AI also loves spamming those damn ox tethers, my archers keep killing the poor creatures over and over again, I wonder how much damage on more important enemies I end up missing.

Depends on archer type to be honest. Arabians are really fucking overpowered in Crusader. The tether glitch and arabian bowmen are a godsent in Crusader Trail 1 40-50
