I was playing these stupid games before Dark Souls became a meme on youtube, so pretending that the combat is super duper important and super hard isn't something I care to do.

Anyone that has beaten any souls game will tell you that the combat is a joke once you realize that you just had to do the dumb thing instead of the thing that makes sense, and start rolling into attacks to abuse iframes, rather than away from them.

I agree that dark Souls combat isn't amazing, but I don't think the rpg aspect is done well either. All it amounts to is a class title, dressing up your character, and having a role in multiplayer. Souls's strength has always been the level design, loot, and world buiding imo.
