Is there any possible way this thing could have been realistically salvaged? And I do mean realistically. Don't give me any exaggerated fantasy wishes or meme answers here that wouldn't have ever actually happened.

Decent hardware. The PSTV was a great little thing, had the PSXmini had similar or better hardware it would've been great.

Twisted Metal 2 instead of 1 would be a good start

No spyro or crash really killed it for me, and we all know they did it to push the remasters.

Definitely agree with you both on this and they easily could have done this.

Bleemsync does wonders though.

remove mr. driller in favor of silent hill
remove puzzle fighter in favor of mega man legends
remove the shitty western exclusives like rainbow six in favor of the japanese ones like parasite eve

Cant you just stick roms onto USB and play them off of this?

With this in mind, surely it's fine?

The principle of the matter though. They shouldn't be rewarded for botching this thing so badly. Many games use the inferior pal versions and the emulation even has issues like FFVII music being off.

I guess. Dualshocks would have been good too how am I supposed to play ape escape on this thing.

In the UK at least, these are dirt cheap now. I dunno if they overproduced them or noone bought them.

Brain dead easy to mod the classic. It's $30 to add all the games you want. There are niggers in this thread to actually bought a snes mini for $100 lmao

What games should you put on if you do this?

Of course. The PS1 has some amazing games, and also it wouldn't have been hard for them to actually implement some proper emulation and settings. As it was the version that shipped felt slapped together for a quick buck, which is probably the case.

If they ever do a PS2 classic or whatever, I hope they try harder next time around.

Spyro and Crash would have saved it. Now it's just a Tekken paper weight.

but does it run well

Anything you can think of man. I just put it a bunch of SNES, N64 and GBA games. Kind of funny playing Mother 3 on a big screen, looks good too. Also I heard the DS emulator ran well on it too. Gonna play some Earthbound first.

I fully realize these would be licensing hell, but if they could've put Gran Turismo 1 or 2, or Tony Hawk 1 or 2, they would have grabbed way more of the casual bro market.
Getting the rights from all those car manufacturers, musicians, skate brands, skateboarders would have been a shitstorm.

Yea heres some vids of a guy testing out some N64 games on it, you can check out his DS one too in his channel.

Nice. I didn't buy a snes mini so maybe I'll just do this instead. Wanna play me some turtles in time

Doubling the amount of games.
Having games that actually mattered.

Like it was easily salvaged, they just didn't care.

>Games should all be NTSC and not fucking PAL 50Hz shit.
>Don't make Parasite Eve JP only
>If you only have 20 slots don't waste them on Cool Boarders 2, Mr. Driller and fucking PS1 GTA.
>No Tomb Raider, Spyro, or even any of the Crash games? Now that's just dumb.
>Putting Persona 1 on there instead of 2. Really?

It was very obviously a cash grab on their part, seeing how apeshit people went over the Nintendo mini consoles. They probably figured the nostalgia alone would make them fly off the shelves. Pretty fucking stupid on their part.

Let's see:

1. NTSC releases
2. Better hardware
3. Dual shocks
4. At least one unreleased title
5. Twice as many games. It has over 200 good titles and those are too few.
6. Better hardware
7. Maybe an online store to download some more so people don't feel inclined to always mod these.
8. Improved input latency

I think all of these retro mini consoles should have between 30-50 games at least. PS1 being limited to just 20 really doesn't do the system justice especially since the console has I think over 2000 games on it.
>they just didn't care
Definitely, fucking Snoy goddamn.

>online store to download some more
Would've increased production costs too much.

>tfw missed out getting PSTV's dirt cheap
>Prices are skyrocketting cause of the recent hacks

Attached: 5trf.jpg (400x287, 25K)

It needed better games and a significantly lower price point. The games on there didn't justify the insane price at all. The NES and SNES classic have the benefit of being a shit ton of classic games that are heavily nostalgia dipped. PS classic had FF7 and RE and MGS. The rest isn't really stuff that your average normalfag enjoyed. They'd have needed spyro, crash, you know, stuff that got proper remakes, to play that market
I'm not saying the games on there are bad, just that normalfags don't know toshinden. Tekken 3 I guess is sorta popular but most people played it in arcades. GTA1 is too "weird" for your average normalfag.

Anyway, yeah. Better selection of popular titles instead of this weird mishmash of a handful of popular titles and then a bunch of shovelware, or a lower price. Even $50 I think would have been an okay price but they launched at $100 and now no one cares at all.

There was a big push by youtubers posting videos about how it was using an emulator too, that dissuaded people.

Shoot em ups could have saved it. Those don't require analog so they could have an excuse to just go the original pad. Slap in some Raystorm, Einhander, In the Hunt, Thunderforce, Darius, R-type Delta, Salamander.

>Best version of Muramasa is stuck on a system that is harder and harder to get.

Attached: muramasarebirth4.jpg (960x544, 217K)

I missed out when they were $20 without controller, but I did get a bundle w/ controller, game + 8gb for $70. not the best deal, but i've seen hacked and loaded it with a ton of games.

I deeply regret not dropping $200 on a couple of pstvs when they were only $20.

All the bad PR killed it sales wise too. Like even the most turbo of casuals looked at the meager line up of games this thing had and rightly turned their noses up at it. You can tell it flopped on launch by how Sony started implementing price cuts on the device almost right away. Like a few weeks had passed before the first major price slash. Then they kept doing it, because people STILL didn't want this piece of trash. What a collosal fuck up on every level.

>Last I checked, they were practically giving PSTVs away
>Just checked, and they're over $200 now

I kept telling myself I'd pick one up so I could play P4G on my TV. That's what I get for sleeping on it, I guess.

Good thing I managed to get a vita on the cheap before it happened. I'm gonna play that Muramasa game, looks fun. I'm seething theres no way to hook up the vita to my TV though.

It could have been quality. But it still would not have sold. Because nobody cares about PS1.

youtube.com/watch?v=PAPtX_m8T-I&feature=youtu.be

havent bought one but there is an option

Are you mental? The PS1 is still in the top 5 list of best selling consoles of all time. Plenty of people are nostalgic over it. Me for one, it was the first console I ever owned, and I fucking loved that thing.

If the controllers at least had analog sticks. I'd pay the $30 they're asking for right now for two decent DS1 USB controllers.

Don't feed the trolls. How do you people forget the rules

>docks keep selling out like fucking crazy
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Attached: 624.jpg (981x981, 75K)

The controllers are surprisingly comfy. Had to switch some controls around for certain emulators. Hope hacks dont increase the price of the classic too, mods and customization are gonna keep getting better and better.

>being a rulefag

Wasn't the hardware such a shitshow that the NES/SNES minis ran PSX games better than this?

No, the software was just a heavily modified pcsx-r I think, and that's why it ran like garbage, the hardware itself is nearly identical to NES/snes mini.

So if you run it through some PSX RetroArch core you should have better performance? Is hacking/modding on it to the point where you can run not only other games, but use different controllers and probably run a custom OS through it?

There's no reason to do that unless you just want the case. There's no upsides to buying a PSX mini. Any SBC off the shelf will give similar or better performance.

>There's no reason to do that unless you just want the case.
Well yeah, they're running for 20 at my local and for that price it'd be worth picking up just to have sitting there.

Buy a gunpla and put that together instead. You'll get more fun out of it and you can troll /m/ with it.

only nincels are dumb enough to pay for the same 30-year-old ROMs 20 times each

But the gunpla I want is like a hundo and something.

Check local stores that don't give a shit about japshit and only focus on comics or warhammer shit. You can often find shit that's been sitting there for years for cheap.

>Drop
Cool Boarders 2
Destruction Derby
Intelligent Qube
Twisted Metal
Rayman
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo

>Add
Ape Escape (If they don't replace the PS1 controllers with Dualshocks then put Parappa in this spot)
Medievil
Symphony of the Night
Twisted Metal 2
Einhander
Street Fighter Alpha 3

Mega Man Legends 1 & 2 could have sold a decent a mount of systems alone.

>Drop Cool Boarders 2
not radical

I’m pretty sure this was released on December and not in last year March.

>no gran turismo 2
>no alundra
what the fuck were they thinking

Add Alundra, Azure Dreams and Silent Hill. Or if they made it into a portable like that Sega Genesis portable I would buy it.
