>Polish and attention to detail is out of this world
>Cutscene showing the Shinra president watching Avalanche carry out the mission on security cameras
>The crew doesn't trust Cloud and Barret is constantly on Cloud's back making sure he's not double-crossing them
>Jessie is flirting with Cloud throughout the mission
>No loading from beginning of the mission to the end
>Combo system where you can set attacks up with one character, switch to the other, and then follow up with an attack that causes more stagger to the enemy
>Music is dynamic and changes like MGR during the boss battle
>Multiple stances for each character (one that makes Cloud slow but hit heavier and is able to counter attacks, another where he's more nimble)
>Banter between characters gives more character development
>Dialogue is realistic making characters sound and interact with each other like "real people"
This sounds like this could surpass the original if they pull it off for the entire game
Polish and attention to detail is out of this world
>Polish and attention to detail is out of this world
Like every SE game. That doesn't matter because they all play like shit. LOL
TIFA TITS TOO SMOLL 0/10 WILL NOT PLAY
>if they pull it off for the entire game
this is the problem.
Don't get me wrong, i loved the trailer, i loved the combat, i loved the scorpion battle and i love the description maximilaindood gave, but i wonder if the rest of the game is gonna be the same.
It can work if they keep the cutscenes same as gameplay graphs so they dont have uncompressed cinematics that takes hundreds of gb.
If they keep the cutscenes in gameplay graphs, and polish everything, it could really be a good game. Not sure to surprass the original, but coming real close.
This demo might have been an extremely polished vertical slice. I REALLY hope they can do this for the rest of the game. I can't even imagine what the rest o the game would look like with this level of polish.
This but unironically. Only reason I bothered finishing the original.
Are they still selling this in parts?
Yes and the first part is only Midgar.
>The crew doesn't trust Cloud and Barret is constantly on Cloud's back making sure he's not double-crossing them
This makes sense, but him calling Cloud a double crosser just just stepping away from the bomb for a moment didn't make sense to me.
I'm not too sure about the stagger mechanic. FFXIII didn't pull it off well. Just makes the enemies feel like damage sponges.
Everything (aside from maybe the opening cinematic) is in-engine so that weapon changes can be reflected. Appearently the character models can be switched between regular and "super-high-detail" version in an instant for close-ups. Then change it back when zooming out, ensuring stable framerate throughout.
>Polish and attention to detail is out of this world
That's actually a concern when it comes to Square Enix. They can fixate on certain details way too much. Just look at some of the wasted time and budget they put into FFXIV's 1.0 and FFXV's rock photos. I'm hoping it's good and still enjoy a lot of SE's games but it is an issue they've had to deal with multiple times.
It does make sense considering it's AVALANCHE's first "big thing" and they are at a critical moment that must not be failed. Being so on-edge, Barret would obviously be careful to the point that it borders on paranoia. But at least he's calm enough not to "pull the trigger" immdietly and actually shoot Cloud for it.
The original would take a person about 60 to 80 hours to finish, right? And Midgar was probably... 5 or 6 of that? I'm a bit nervous that they might lose control of scale and scope or we'll see a game that costs $600 total at the end of it all.
IIRC that was mostly due to teams being nilly-willy shifted around. That won't happen for FFVIIR, consdering how Kitase seems to have the reins on the project "like in good old times".
Yeah, I get that, but Cloud even immediately looked like he was going on the defensive and was looking around, anywhere but where Barret was, so it really felt off to me. I don't know, maybe it'll make more sense in the full game.
>a game that costs $600 total at the end of it all.
Is this including the cost of a PS5?
>>Combo system where you can set attacks up with one character, switch to the other, and then follow up with an attack that causes more stagger to the enemy
I watched the video and he said this part is his THEORY and that it wasn't actually in the demo, but he thinks it'll probably be in the final game because it seemed like you could do that based on how the individual moves work.
The rest of your post is things he actually did say though.
Judging from the trailer, it looked like Barret was suspecting Cloud of "giving Shinra buddies of his a signal to come out and attack Barret" or something along those lines. However due to his trust in Tifa he doesn't seem to actually have intention to attack him until he has definite proof that Cloud is a spy.
There's no way it's less than 3, but I doubt it'll be 10 like you're implying. If it's more than 5 or 6 I'd be surprised. Given that most movie series are trilogies (for whatever reason), I'd guess they'll probably try to make this a trilogy as well.
>Tifa backflips an enemy into the air
>Cloud sends that enemy flying with Braver as a follow-up
I can totally see such combos happening.
Tifa is a solid 10/10 on that shot. Probably because the ZR isn’t visible.
>Jessie is flirting with Cloud throughout the mission
DON'T FUCKING DIEEEEE
i dont know about hardware or software, but ive seen people complaining about how "4k cinematics takes shitton of space" and stuff, and i really dont know if cutscenes like you described it will take much space or not
I mean, im sure its better for the game to have in-game cutscenes and obviously not 4k cinematics, isn't?
how much in-game cinematics space does it take?
Are you seriously gonna make new threads every time you get BTFO in the old one?
>arms
Bro
He steps up to set the bomb and an alarm sounds, just like the original.
Reminder that this is his sister.
apparently according to people who played the demo, the stagger mechanic is for fixed damage, not for duration, so you can't just save atb charges to blow your load during stagger, since it will always be the same
Never played 13 but i guess it works the same, or not?
I am just reiterating what Dood said. I don't know myself.
