For me, it's the 3DS XL; the deisgn is purely and infinitely more pleasing and also the 2DS has problems with the buttons and many anons recommended against it

Is an N3DS worth it over an original 3DS? I don't have a ton of money and got a broken original 3DSXL which I can fix up for maybe 40ish bucks, but I found a couple of N3DSXLs for like 100ish by me. Other than 3DS games I'd only use it for GB/GBA games. Are the exclusives worth it?

What's the easiest way to play DS roms on a hacked 3DS?

I like NL's moving system. If you don't touch the game for a certain period of time (a few weeks, maybe) your villagers won't move away. Kills me that they aren't adding any new personalities in NW given that it's all but certain that you'll have more than eight neighbors.

I dislike it but really because of the fact that they can move anywhere instead of just on signposts.
The signposts were super convenient for customizing a town before.

The N3DSXL has already been discontinued.

A bunch of different series have made big efforts to celebrate their 30th anniversaries, but none of them come close to DQXI. They essentially made three different versions of the same game celebrating the series in past, distant past, and the now-future representations. Shame they decided the 3ds version didn't need an english release.

The Welcome Amiibo update is actually amazing for all the stuff it adds even if you don't have or use any amiibos. They added a ton of new items and a few new cool features like an enormous extra storage option and godmode style room rearranging. It's fun, go check it out.

Not 100% accurate, you have to do a bunch of boss refights and go to all the crystals again but it's pretty sped up.

It's no longer listed on Nintendo's US website as an available product, but can still be bought off their online store brand new (but only in red). Walmart still sells it on their website, but no store in my area has any left and both GameStop and Target tell me they won't be getting any more shipments but the 2DSXL will be around for "the foreseeable future"

The trailer park is around even if you don't use any amiibos; there's rotating visitors and you can buy themed (and sometimes holiday) stuff from their RVs. There's a pseudo cheevo system where you complete daily/weekly goals for points and can exchange those for furniture etc, which adds another little layer of incentive to play.

Ending production doesn't mean removing it from the shelves.
Nintendo's probably done accepting orders because they're planning to stop production of N3DSXL soon. Just gotta sell the leftover stock now.

Small N3DS all the way. Easy to get at the SD card, you can change your appearances, good screen DPI, and the paint doesn't peel like most N3DS XL SKUs.

Get a Japanese machine and softmod it if you can't find anything at about $100.

In terms of software, hacking the N3DSXL and N2DSXL is identical. It's marginally more convenient with the N2DSXL because you can more easily access the SD card slot, it just has a flap covering it (as well as the game card slot). The N3DSXL has its SD card slot under the battery cover.

Used to use the very first model of 3DS that I got back when they first came out but sold it recently and bought this n3dsxl at a pawn shop for $100
In hindsight, probably should have just bought a new one since this one has some minor yet noticeable scuffs. Wish I had one of those SNES models.
Going back to finish FE Revelations at the moment
SMT is pretty fun, definitely play SMT4 next, it is quite different from SJ but it has what I think is the greatest battle system of any jrpg (except for maybe it's follow up game)
Get Awakening, absolutely fantastic franchise and Awakening is really good even though I wouldnt say its the best Fire Emblem

They are region locked, but easy to install CFW on. Every current CFW is able to bypass the region lock for out-of-region games, whether legitimate or not.

Colored buttons is new3ds, n2ds has colored buttons but they are all the same color, not like the n3ds SNES controller color pattern
Definitely get the new2/3ds variant though not the old one
If you ever decide you want cfw then the new2/3ds models will be far better for emulation

Just copy and paste all the stuff from a card to another, is that easy.

Best jrpg made since chrono trigger

Playing through Ace Attorney 6 right now, thought I got spoiled on the last case but I fucking didn't and now I don't know what to expect, shit's great. Just started investigating the tomb.

Finished up Great Ace Attorney a few weeks ago. Was going through PQ2 but Dragon Quest getting in Smash made me want to pick up the DQ games I haven't played yet. Bravely Second. i gave it a shot to see how bad it really is. Fun thing is, people were claiming to me it was "Better balanced" then Bravely Default, but i see the opposite, first fucking job you get has Spellcraft which lets you break the game in half, and soon after that you get Bishop which is basically "White Mage, But better" even without Spellcraft, with it you can shit out absurd heals constantly and cheaply, and both are in the prologue.

The "Choose Your Job" segments are also poor because they are no-brainers.

Thief has nothing of real value to steal until you can get what you didn't choose anyway and even if they did you can get Thief Knife if you HAVE to steal shit, So Red Mage is better.

Summoner gets fucking broken with Spellcraft and can Alpha Strike even bosses when properly set up (Patisserie Applies Elemental Weakness, someone makes Magic boost/Debuff Special, then Hammer or Rain shit to death, perferably with Ventriloquism so you only need to "waste" 1 on the Spellcraft), only issue is MP intensivity, but since you can disable encounters you have no excuse to hit a boss without full MP.

White and Black Mages loses to their counterpart by default cause Spellcraft Bishop/Summoner does what they do better and Red Mage will cover 90% of the Black/White Magic you need in the first cycle and is available earlier. Merchant is QoL when you grind for money and Ranger has berserk for (superflous) auto grind tactics.

Ninja has Dual-Wield, Dual Wield Synergized with Tripe/Quad-Wield from the second job you get and probably already knows, Complete no-brainer.

Performer allows more BP battery Strats, Viking is "just" physical damage in a game all about Magic.

Time Mage and Dark Knight are at a point you are just about to finish the "First Cycle" thus a question of like a hour at worst before you get the other.

BD was more fun with the BP manipulation and battery tactics. Just venting cause BS isn't even the fun "bad balance", unlike BD.

Vita is good for cfw because you can play snes (not sure about super fx) and nes emulator on it, not sure about gba though I think it has some problems
If you value PS1/PSP games as well as Nintendo classics with some good vita games like Persona 4, then go Vita
If you like DS games, then go n3ds
It really comes down to personal prefrence but both can emulate snes and back just fine

then I guess I'll go with the 3ds, since I can think of way more games at the top of my head that I want to play on it then vita games
