I wanted to like hyper light drifter. it had exellent aesthetics and tone but the controls were awful. The difficulty felt artificial as a result.

Also PC controls were garbage for a long period of time. They didn't add an option to dash not in the direction of your target reticle for ages, which made evading and shooting a huge pain in the ass, though this eventually got fixed.

I don't think it's fair to call terraria this gen, really. It came out almost a decade ago now. It's still getting updates, for a long while though, it wasn't, and they were shilling starbound really hard. That said, the game is fun.

HK was ported to PS4 and Switche exactly because it was already hugely popular on PC to make it sell a ton of copies.

Iji is great but so old I'm not sure it counts as "this generation".

Secrets are usually marked fairly clearly. I got annoyed when I first started playing because I thought you needed to bump into every wall and tree to check manually, but then I noticed that every secret entrance has a marking close by (usually a little square design on the ground). Invisible platforms have them as well, and you can activate your droid thing to reveal them when you stand on or near the marking.

you say that, but good pixel art is actually time consuming and sometimes using Dev tools like unity is easier and cheaper.

I think it has good writing, and solid movement mechanics. But ultimately suffers from too few enemy types, and the ones we get are completely negligible. Only there so you can do cloudstep shenanigans.

I liked it but the dungeons were boring and had too many puzzles with not enough combat.

Its 5 bucks on GOG if you wanna actually pay for it. Its fun, and both kinds of playthroughs, Resist or Embrace, really change the way you play.

The sound design is also top notch.

Only real complaint is the cartoony visuals sometimes.

I found that different situations had different optimal loadouts desu, I like trivialising encounters in games and I find it fun figuring out which combinations work best for different stages.

also, even though platforming is a bit harder than plague Knight, I find he has the most options for airtime, harder to control but great potential.
