Game and Manga is where the actual plot happens. Manga is a bit of a mess and chooses Milfie and makes Tact out as a skirt chaser while he's way more honest and up front in the games, and there's less drama between the girls over him.
Anime is a complete far-cry from the games because while it was initially made to run in tandem with the game's release, delays on the game left Madhouse with the basic character sheets while the deadline for the anime was approaching so they went completely original and worked with basic character traits and pushed them to their extremes. No protagonist in that one but it's still a fucking gem of 2000's anime absurdist comedy.

Sadly all you get for 1-4 are script TLs and in 1/4's case theyre very rough 2/3 are done enough to get through the games without much issue. It's a shame too as coming from 1-4, 5 just feels lacking by comparison.

You play as a manager for a magical girl squad. You have to balance truth and lies to keep them on your side. the enemies you are facing are failed magical girl projects and that in the end, they are all equiped with a bomb to blow themselves up after they get rid of all the rejects.

Mostly dating sim until the battle scenes where it turns into a JRPG.

My dating sim idea is that you're the director of a Super Sentai TV series. But that's actually a cover; the girls really ARE Super Sentai in real life. Every week, the girls battle evil in real life, and then you have to figure out a way to turn it into a TV show. You have to balance reality with unreality so that the audience doesn't get bored but also the villains don't catch on that it's all a cover and attack the girls in their civilian forms.

You'd be able to get closer to a girl by giving her a focus episode, and the audience would like her more, but doing it too much would give her a swelled head and make the other girls upset.

I like that idea. The only thing I'm thinking is where would the locations be? If it's in the city it wouldn't make sense. Maybe weekly space battles? Would the main gameplay be like a video editor type thing? That sounds like it would be fun.

So I opened it up, for the first time in years, only to see a bunch of people who were actually learning Japanese, and I realised, if I hadn't just laughed off the thread, if I'd joined in, then maybe I would've known Japanese by then.

Waiting and hoping doesn't work. If you want something, you have to go out and take it. Nobody is going to force you to do it, nobody is going to translate everything you want to play or read, the only person to blame is yourself.

Not him, but a lot of the appeal of learning a language disappears when you actually start learning it. It's no different from getting fit or learning an instrument. You have to intrinsically find value in the activity, because you're quickly going to stop finding it rewarding. "I could just be playing a different video game instead of spending months or years learning Japanese to play this video game".

I know French and I love a lot of French media but I consume almost all of it in English. I don't go seek out the Wakfu comics in French, I just wait for them to get translated. Why? I don't know. I'm fluent. It's no trouble at all. I could be the one translating, even. But it's just not right at the top of my mind to go reading French comics. There are English things I could be doing.

In the end you really have to want it, and a lot of people don't. Everyone thinks about how great it'd be to be Matt from Capcom and go make video games with your idols, but he had to go through a lot of shit to make it to that point, and there are no guarantees. If you actually like learning languages, go ahead, but not everyone does.

I had similar problems with running a few years back. Kept being told that if I just started getting good at running, I'd get in shape in no time because it's addicting. Got up to 10km and I still wasn't feeling it, it just felt like tiresome work. There was no value in it. You have to get that sense of value.

I've never found learning Japanese to be that interesting. Sometimes you encounter a new word that happens to be interesting and you spend a few minutes reading up the etymology out of curiosity, but generally learning the language is pretty dull.

I still do it every day, because that's simply the difference between knowing Japanese, and being a shitter. I don't know why you don't use your French ability more, maybe it's because translations from French to English are fairly accurate, and you don't want to bother with occasional word lookup or something.

I learnt nip for the sake of porn. There was an artist whose work I really liked, and nobody was translating it because nobody translates artist CG sets. Today, 5 years or so on, one out of 30 or so of those works have been translated, and I read the other 29 4 years ago.

I guess I do get a sense of value from the mountains of shit I consume that would otherwise be unavailable to me, but that's always felt quite removed from the learning process.

Learning Japanese doesn't take a lot of effort. It's just the formation of a habit. Every morning, I wake up, and I do my reps. Sometimes I take a break for a bit, sometimes I rush through them because I have something planned for the rest of the day, but every morning I sit at my computer and I click through a bunch of cards. That's way easier than leaving the house.
