You only need Iracing honestly
Racing games with no car destruction are just a complete and utter waste of time and energy, at that point you might as well just play rocket league
retards like you are why racing games are dead
please exit the gene pool
Play train sims
>List a simulator that is used in motorsports
>LEL YOU KILLING THE GENRE
Yes the lego cars really add to the immersion of Forza
ehhhh
I will never forget the endless shitposting that ensued when that car came out. I think about it every time I see one in public, which is not very often.
What was the shitposting about?
OH GOD HOW DID I GET HERE I'M NOT GOOD WITH COMPUTERS
I see them a lot around here. I saw one a few months ago with
>implying
In green vinyl on the quarter window, and it solidified my desire to never own one.
Me and my friends once joined a steam broadcast to try and make fun of the guy playing train simulator. He had spent hundreds in DLC and it was just funny. Halfway through the jokes we started feeling guilty because not only did he not get that we were making fun of him, he was actually really really excited that he could share something that he loved so much with so many people.

PLAY FLIGHT SIMS
DCS F-14 is great
anyone getting f1 2019?
I don't like any of the ones around these days. I really enjoyed the almost RPG-like progression of the old Gran Turismo games, working your way up from an econobox through the various classes and racing series until reaching the full-on race cars, customizing and modifying cars as you went through the game, etc. I've never liked Forza as much for some reason, maybe it's the track selection, and actual sims just aren't as compelling to me, I've got a decent amount of real-life track experience and I always just find myself frustrated with the flaws and limitations of sims when I play them, particularly the narrow field of view.
what racing game lets me trick out my car and is playable/emulatable on pc?
Anyone else have a fetish for making American cars turn? I love taking old boomer boats and tweaking the suspension until they corner like supercars.
Side note but I've always figured those are the kinds of people who put tons of money into Star Citizen. A couple of hundred bucks for a spaceship you can fly around anywhere in a multiplayer game doesn't seem that bad when you're used to spending the same on a train that can't do anything but drive back and forth on a track on a limited map in a single player one.
To be fair, OP did say racing GAMES.
I think the whole "sims aren't games" thing is stupid. Nearly every publicly available sim out there is made primarily played for entertainment by people who aren't professionals at the thing the game simulates and probably don't do it in real life at all. The only one I can think of that's a real exception to that is Prepar3d.
primarily TO BE played. Fuck, I'm still not awake yet.
>huehuehue slower than minivan
I just re-installed Grid since I haven't played it since I bought it back in 2009...
>Nobody here plays WMMT5
Look up how to run teknoparrot, and you're in for a real treat! Leauges better than the Initial D game, if you don't want to run teknoparrot, it's available at all US Round 1 stores.
I don't even have a driving license.
I miss playing this shit in arcades. It wasn't fun when a guy beside you races you with his maxed out shit.
I'm the guy maxed out. It's also not fun when catchup is on, and my shit is limited.
As a butthurt Slowbaru owner, I feel the need to remind everyone who brings it up that the tested car was an automatic, which is a full second slower 0 to 60 and loses a good 20 horsepower compared to the manual due to drivetrain loss. Manual ones have been tested to run sub-15 quarter miles, which is better than any minivan, even the V6 ones. I know it's slow, but please don't bully it by saying it's slower than a minivan.
Posting the most fun racing game out there
call me when a good one comes out
last one I played was Burnout 3 TAKEDOWN!
It was a kino game, other racing games just couldn't compete so I stopped bothering to look for racing games.
play onrush
I already do.
>we will never get another Project Gotham Racing
I just want a racing RPG with multiple story paths. The driving doesn't even have to be good
jesus christ you gave it anxiety. You fucked up a perfectly good FD.
I prefer to keep the boat suspension and just compensate for it. Nothing can beat going up against an less skilled opponent in his Ferrari and shadowing him while also pitching a full 20 degrees in every single turn.
I tried making it look like keisuke's FD.
When I get a super computer I'm gonna pirate this game, its literally one of the first games to pirate on my list of games I can't play right now but I want to play.
Do I need accessories to play it? How do I reach the peak train simulator experience?
I will buy the game if I like it.
You ruined it just like he did
i just got dirt rally 2.0 and everything feels so numb compared to dirt rally 1
i had to turn all the ffb up to 120-150% just to get any feedback
is this dependent on my wheel or is this game really just getting undeserved praise
for me dirt rally 2.0 stratos felt like a loose canon.
Literally felt like on ice all the time.
I believe that's actually Train Sim World and not Train Simulator. It seems to be the nicer of the two games, I'm not really into train sims but a few channels I follow play them occasionally. I don't really think you need anything special in the way of accessories or peripherals, I know they exist but not many people seem to use them.
GT Sport is fine. I'd rather Polyphony make their own open world simcade racing game set in 90's Japan, something comparable yet totally unique from Forza Horizon. Driving 200hp shitboxes on 1-lane winding mountain roads sounds much more thrilling than driving 1000hp hypercars on 8-lane freeways.
I just want old-school GT back. I want to play through the career, and I really miss the old original tracks like Trial Mountain, Grand Valley, etc.
Obligatory Trackmania post
Looks fine to me.
I miss old gran turismo racing progression. you grew attached to old shit box and when you finally got to the faster cars you really felt like you achieves something.
yeah its awful
and then you go over a grate and the wheel generates enough kinetic energy to power a village
It is Train Sim World. It's made from the same people who make Train Simulator but is using Unreal Engine instead of the shit they've been using for TS since 2012. In TSW you can play the game in first person as if you're actually in the world rather than just having direct control of the train and shifting between cameras.
The other advantage is that TSW hasn't got $5000+ of DLC (yet). I've just been buying the new stuff as it comes out to keep the collection growing without it feeling like a massive money sink.
>hold w map
Lame
Like it's ridiculous, I only use about 5deg of turn in into a hairpin because it's so loose, but then have to use 180 to 600deg of counter steer, it's just so stupid.
just played a bunch of Forza Horizon 4 on both tbe Xbone and PC. still Im waiting for Virtua Racing on the Switch to be released in about 1 or 2 weeks.
no they're usually very impressive feats of map editor engineering. because you know that editor is what separates TM from the rest.
Race and watch Indycars.
Shit, what's the other big one right now? Trainz or something? I know I've seen people play that and it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as TSW.
FPBP for once in a racing thread.
Hands down the best mulitplayer matchmaking in any game to exist.
Nothing feels better than practicing a track and a car seeing your laptime reduced bit by bit, then dodging the clown-crew at the beginning of the race and finishing in the top half for the first time.
I'll get a win one day. But I've never raced cars IRL and have a shitbox of a corolla. This lets me live that out.

VR ARCADE RACER WHEN?
ass course is great but why race if you're not in a oversteer monster that wants nothing other than your death
theres that one wipeout clone
I recently played Wreckfest and American Truck Simulator if those count. I like cockpit camera modes.
Redout doesn't let you sit in the cockpit and I don't particularly like the skidding on the ground.
I mainly stick to the Mazda MX-5, Toyota GT 86, and Pagani Hyunda(or whatever)
I don't actually race tracks, I drive on modded tracks like Lake Louise and LA Canyons. Fast cars are almost undrivable in those bendy turns for my skill level (low)

I really want to try AC again just to try out LA Canyons, since those are roads I know quite well from real life. Shame it seems like I'd have to figure out how to get the guy to give me the VIP version to get Mount Wilson, which is the best road in the whole area.

>watched the new Grid trailer
Can someone explain the appeal of an circuit racing game with arcade physics? If I'm racing on a track, I want realistic physics to challenge me. If I'm racing in an open world, I want arcade physics so I'm not frustrated. Easy driving in a limited playing area doesn't sound interesting to me.

What happened to progression in racing games? Are people too ADHD to enjoy a shitbox for a few hours?
>Another F-14 Chad
Nice, though I play racing sims too mostly just Assetto Corsa though.
As mentioned many times in this thread, iRacing has progression.
You can buy fast cars, but you can't race them until you earn a license. You can practice tracks with them, but you won't be allowed to race multiplayer
>What happened to progression in racing games? Are people too ADHD to enjoy a shitbox for a few hours?
Fuckin' zoomers, man. I would love a game that was all shit boxes.
I just stay in the back honestly. Don't even qualify so that you will be placed in the back of the pack
Let the retards sort themselves out in Turn one lap one, coast by the wreckage, then the real racing begins
Yeah that would be nice. Add some element like Tokyo Extreme Racer where you roam the highway and challenge people.
enjoy your shit thread that wont hit limit when you could be in the general that maxes out idiot on pics

I only play racing games that let me go REALLY fast
so that's why I rarely see people qualify.
I should be getting back into iRacing next month. Lost my job in October, so needed to pinch pennies since then. But I start a new job tomorrow and will be getting back into it.
Using a Oculus Rift with a 1060 6GB right now, it does the job pretty well but my new job pays more than the one I got fired from, so gonna splurge and build a new computer with the best grahpics card possible, a good CPU, and a Valve index and then eventually get one of those Fanatecs like the richfags get.
I mean I can finish almost in the top half with my current setup and admittedly low skill level.
But damnit I really like the feeling of personal progression and seeing my lap time inch down lower and lower as I form a bond with the MX-5.
I'm actually considering upgrading my shitty corolla to a MX-5, but I fear for the trunkspace.
i will
>playing Carburetor Cup on iRacing
>Do pretty shitty in 'Dega qualifying, get placed like 15th
>Lap one
>guy in like the top 5 crashes and somehow wrecks 10-15 cars
>Days of Thunder.webm through the entire crash, only 1st and 2nd place survived the crash, making me go from 15th place to 3rd instantly
>draft 2nd place and catch up
>15 laps of neck-and-neck draft fighting of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place while everyone else is -1/-2 laps behind
Honestly was one of the best races of my iRacing career.
Wipeout doesn't even feel that fast honestly. Redout, Fast Racing Neo, and F-Zero are all faster anti-grav games.
maybe if you never played phantom class with a speed craft
Yeah it's less of an issue in road racing because the pack spreads itself out pretty quickly, but in oval racing you basically start as a tight pack and are kinda forced to race as a tight pack or else you'll get left behind. This is why turn one, lap one crashes happens in nearly every single oval race.
On Short tracks, I will never qualify because I know it will be a clusterfuck, but on big banked tracks like Talladega and Daytona, I will go ahead and qualify anyway because the track is big and there's more of a breathing/reaction room to react to a crash and zigzag your way through, wheras short tracks like Bristol and Myrtle Beach, you're fucked unless you start way in the back.
Not even my thread I'm just bored
But i do

did any of the need for speeds after MW and Carbon give that same feel
What's good for PC that doesn't require a $150 wheel?
>tfw no love for arcade stuff like Grip and Redout
There's need for speed and the forza series
NFS has no wheel support and forza horizon has the shittiest wheel support known to man
Get a DFGT
They're cheap and pretty good for starters
nothing my dude.
i dont own a farm or have a submarine but it doesnt stop me either
this
got a used one for $30
Force feedback changes everything.
I got Grid a few years ago when it was free before it got taken off Steam but never really played it. Turns out it's fun as fuck once you get used to Codies' early attempts at semi-arcade handling. Soul for days, the soundtrack is boner-inducing, teammate and pit crew chatter is always great, and I like how in the War and Peace-sized list of opponent drivers and race teams, there's real-world ones (like Corvette Racing and their famous Compuware C6.Rs, pic related) mixed in with the fictional ones.
Also, fuck drift events and fuck Ravenwest.
hmm seems comfy
>all these iracing fags
So let me get this straight. First you have to pay a monthly subscription just to access the game. Then you have to buy all the individual tracks AND cars to play. And then after all that money, you STILL need to buy a $150+ racing wheel just to even drive the cars.
What the fuck is wrong with you letting yourselves get jewed over by that crap?
By december I should be purchasing a 2019 / 2020 miata ND, but if that plan backfires you can bet your ass I'll be getting a brz
you should have just gone stock yellow, big ass spoiler and be done with it. Rims as well obviously
Wait until the refresh with the FA24
anyone who's played trackmania can tell you that arcade handling doesn't immediately mean easy
it becomes more abstracted from the workings of a real car, yeah, but perfect racing lines, throttle control, etc. become even more important once the game's physics become easier to perfect and some asshole from bongland is 0.002 seconds faster than you and you can't figure out how the FUCK he's doing it
I'm pretty sure the driver would be long dead from those G forces
Really? How good is it going to be? Please let it rev to 9000 rpm. Is it an NA engine? Cause turbos will put a huge dent in my finances in the long run
If you get a BRZ, recommend you get a Open Flash Tuner + filter for a cheap and easy 10-15 extra horsepower with a partially fixed torque dip. If you want a bit more, a catless header is another 10 easy horsepower, EL if you want a bit more peak power and UEL if you want a bit more mid-range. It won't make the car fast, but at least you won't be sighing with disappointment every time you cross 4000 RPM or try and pass someone.
I really don't care much for performance, if anything I'd keep all the sports I'll ever own stock.
I love japanese rwds, but I'm not a fully fledged /o/tist
The Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4 is the casual filter of GT cars in Assetto Corsa don't @ me
Way ahead of you, lets get a lobby going
But really thanks for the tip though.
As I said I'll be really pushing for the miata at all cost. It has been my dream since 2004 to have own a roadster
I have no idea what Subaru and Toyota plan to do with it, but from what I know about the FA24 as it's used in the ascent it should be good
>Oversquare so able to rev high
>Designed for torque which is the biggest complaint about the BRZ
>should be 240HP assuming HP/L similar to FA20
that will kick up the price for the brz over 30 grand, which in turn will kick it up to 40 grand where I live, so its it'll stop being a working class sports car.
>remaster culture hitting peak levels
>no burnout 3 remaster
Can only hope they do so. The question is if they will do add a turbo trim level or not.
Can't tell if this is a troll post.. global emissions requirements make making engines that rev past 7000rpm extremely expensive, and would not fit where it is positioned in the sub 30k market. It's more likely the next BRZ will have a 6500rpm redline, NA or otherwise.
>tfw didn't get on the xbox one before they stopped their compatibility program
Hey did you guys know a classic spongebob game is being remastered with new content?
Cheaper than racing real cars
The Ascent uses a turbo FA24 and is only 32K for a gigantic SUV, I doubt the BRZ would be significantly more expensive than it is now
Nice. I own a GT86. I wouldn't have expected this car to make it into a racing game.

i beat forza motorsports 2. i never really got into gran torismo i have the two games just haven't played them like forza.
I literally can't stop playing Magione!
It's my favorite course, has 4-5 simple driftable turns, and is fun for grip fagging.
I see those around but worry about getting ripped off.
>hehe loud and fast
>working class
Damn dude. I guess being an engineer means I'm low class; I can't dream of affording stuff like that. My car budget maxes out around ~$6k. Should have gone into tech.
Oh well. At least there is Assetto Corza.
GRID is great, not sure what else to say.
If I could I would. I still have my Nissan 300ZX WMMT3 cards. I used to spend hours during my summer break at my local arcade playing those games

No son, if you really are an engineer you can get a car loan easily, drive the car of your dreams now! What good will it be when you're 60-70 years old, have all the money in the world, but no energy, reflexes or passion to drive your dream cars?

Is there any way to do online ghost battles / use banapass?

I think they said it after GT Sport was released. Or they only let their cars in Japanese racing games only.

I wish there was a racing RPG with everything you would expect of a role playing game.
>Game is a bout a championship that revolves around several kinds of racing modalities, from Truck racing to rally, F1 and nascar.
>Create your character
>Choose background: a fast & furious tier thug street racer who got his talent noticed by a racing manager. A rich german who grew up training to be F1 pilot. And so on.
>Game has actual plot. Depending on your choices, villains will vary. X manager owns money to Y car manufacter due to a scheme. You can chose to race for his brand and bring justice upon Y, or you can join Y and further the scheme on small managers to keep only the elite racers in charge.
>Interesting characters you can befriend or become enemies.

Yeah, basically this.
Woudln't it be nice?
>mid 70s to mid 90s american shitboxes
>under 200 horsepower from a 6+ liter V8
Depending on execution, I would either shitpost about it for weeks, or buy three copies.
Can you even do engine swaps on these?
180hp from a big ass V8 is kinda sad
Yes. It takes some research but most older domestic sedans like that shared transmission bolt-up patterns and engine mounts across the line for years or even decades, and a lot of the malaise-era V8s that made so little power were more or less the same engine as used in years prior and could still make oodles of power with the low-tech emissions garbage ripped off and maybe a new cam and heads.
Or you can get a modern swap kit for an LS if you're a fucking weenie.
Well they're also the company that seems to believe that people won't buy their cars if they're at all fun, interesting, or competitive with anything else in their class either.
I wish Forza had more engine swap options.
>Corvette V8
>Viper V10
>Aventador V12
Literally all you get for half the cars in the game. If I want to put a Ferrari V8 in a Foxbody, why stop me?
pnly if they added an AE86 to FH4
There are more niche engines but yeah those are the most common ones especially the 6.5L V12.
I love putting the 787B rotary engine in a miata though.

Wow it's like Americans got used to making pieces of shit and couldn't handle a bit of quality control. Japanese cars of the same era were making the same power from half the displacement.
/o/ told me the 86/BRZ is a shitty car with a terrible torque dip and you're better off buying a 370z
Do Snowboarding games count?
Yes, ls swap or just drop in a crate motor with some bolt ons. Easy 400 horsepower. Chinese turbo if you really want to go the extra step.
Its only good for screenshots. No progression, no car hoarding, no going from shitbox to hotrod. It sucks. GT7 fucking when.
Yet those same japshit cars are now going for 30k+ plus cause muh weebshit memetax and can't even outrun a camry.

I assure you the people complaining that the car is slow aren't joking.
It's not even remembered now, what makes you think it's going to be popular in 20 years?
Why does Toyota make deals with awful companies?
Cause they haven't made a good car in 20 years. All they make now is econoboxes for white people and forgot how to make a sports car.
The 2019 Z4 is now in FH4. One of the most popular tunes is called "not a Supra"

Oh man, that fucking licensing shit in driver. I remember spending so much fucking time with with my friends just trying to beat that. Played driver on an original playstation a couple months back, and got through it in no time.
What are some games that have the cobra?
It's still being discussed and sold to this day? It's the last simple, honest, driver focused, fun focused, maintenance friendly, fully manual, no nonsense car. No steering modes, no fancy technology, no fake engine sound, no covered up engine bay, no artificially boosted brakes/steering/etc to create the illusion of performance, none of that fakery. A well balanced chassis with a front mounted engine driving the rear wheels through a direct linkage manual gearbox and a mechanical limited slip diff. As perfect as a freshly picked apple. It's built to a price point, and lacks power as a result, but it takes mods well, and offers a canvas upon which to build your own vehicle that expresses yourself. It's the product of the 90's. It's the last of its kind.

Oh. It's been a long time since I played it and thought it was the normal Termi. In that case I think Forza has the normal 03-04 Cobra.
>fix it again tony
No that's FIAT.
>tfw no ridge racer on pc
Emulate it. You can play everything up to the PS3 games (which are mediocre anyway).
>370z
Maybe if you're a fat Mexican
Also /o/ isn't one person
i should focus more on C1. I have a 2:40 in the arcade for hakone.
Is forza motorsport 7 any good? I like horizon 4 but I prefer racing on tracks.
>See stancefags in BRZ's/350z around my town everywhere
>Know fully well that the engine is mostly stock and are super fucking slow
>These cars are what's going to remembered as modern JDM
God bless
Sure, once they release a new Burnout.
I am legitimately trying to find this car for sale in my area. Love it.
no
I own that car in real life
WipEout games are known for starting off fairly slow because if they tossed a new player in at Phantom/A+ without giving them a chance to drill in the track layouts they'd fuck up so much they'd quit. F-Zero is much better with the speed factor though, while still giving room for player improvement. Perfecting your driving (Piloting?) in both games feels very, very, nice.
i prefer driving games about cruising around
Fuck you I'm helping the planet with my Prius.
You can do that in Forza Horizon games. Grab some 1960s Ferrari and cruise along the countryside
only drifto
youtube.com
It's a fantastic car with a terrible torque dip, which is why you flex fuel and supercharge it.
i'd rather drive a pick up truck or a jeep
drifting sucks
Who do boomers hate angle?
Group B rallying is pretty boomer though.
Stop lying. /o/ would never tell you to buy a nissan
RE Amemiya FDs are sexy as fuck. cmon.
SKYLINE 4 LIFE
Isn't this literally how the show begins?
mmm-hmm
Arcade racers > sim racers
>every single fucking thread, no exceptions.
Then make a thread about either and point it out faggot
But I don't want to fuck a car
But user, Yea Forums is and has always been too casual for racing games.
Just got my triple-star license in SASRT today, looking for what to play next
Maybe one of the F-Zero games?
You just need better taste in cars.
play excite bike
youtube.com
Im gonna say its faster, you have to watch your portions though youtube.com
I just want a perfect need for speed game that would be like underground and with cops
>jews are white or not white depending of my narrative.
most wanted
Jews are never white, kike
drifting is cool
FD kinda sucks though
(((That's))) literally (((their))) (((game)))
>You only need the most anal racing game
No thanks, I like to chill when I'm playing games.
some of us make an effort to meet up with the local scene every now and then, the us needs an update badly I'm tired of c1 and Osaka
>even the new consoles struggle to do it these days
AM2 confirmed for wizards
I would if any supported full VR and allowed me to twist/turn/grab shit to interact with them.
Technically Unbounded came to PC, but yeah, I could use a new proper RR.
bought a new automatic 86 huh lad?
>but yeah, I could use a new proper RR.
This
Thinking about copping dirt rally 2, how's the feel compared to 1? I've put a few hours in one on a friend's console, and interested in getting 1 or 2, just wondering if dirt rally 2 feels as immersive and authentic as 1.
>eunos cosmo in a video game
i had no idea
well, the weight of the car plus the american driver are atleas 5 tonnes sooooo
Close, but still based.
too late faggots
This game was good only on a 360 or emulated. The brown/yellow colour palette just made shit even harder to see at 480i at the speeds the game moved at.
