How is this show?

How is this show?

It just adapts Castlevania 3, right?

It's shit m8.
Like one or two fight scenes are decent but the rest is trash.

I liked it. The pacing is super slow in some parts, but the characters are fun and the animation's solid.

It could've been good had they planned it out as a full 24 episode season. It's really rushed and the feminist vampire ruins the 2nd part.

Contrary to what one would expect, it's actually really good. It's biggest flaw is how short it is.

The character interactions are good, but it's very short.

some parts are good, but i found it mostly boring. issac is a more interesting character here and i like the final scene with alucard and dracula but that's it for me personally. long parts of it were focused on boring characters but godbrand was cool.

Attached: 1535030815568.jpg (335x759, 33K)

and she dies a terrible death

I liked it a lot. Pretty good watch since its so short and no filler. Just a lot of action and decent comedy.

I recommend it.

It's great as its own thing, just okay as a Castlevania property goes.
A lot gets either changed from Castlevania 3 or removed. Sypha's motives are mostly different, Grant Danasty is gone, etc.

Is the Castlevania 3 arc over?

I'm trying to get into the franchise and was told to go with Castlevania 3, Rondo of Blood, and Symphony
Figured this would be pretty good supplimentary material as I play through 3 because I know NES games are pretty light on plot

Attached: 1f914.png (512x512, 44K)

It’s ok.
It’s good parts and bad parts. Tends to drag in the middle and then it hits a cord near the end really well.

It’s really best watched both seasons back to back, you will feel the drag after the first act to a lesser extent (but you will notice it)

Dracula is just an emo teen. Muh wife, muh humanity bad, muh son.
FFS get a spine Draky.

It's shit.

>It just adapts Castlevania 3, right?
I fucking wish, instead we got lore rape.

She doesn't you fucking liar , she get away with it all despite acting like a retard all the time and the show is constantly trying to frame her as a master strategist.

I like it but it takes a lot of creative liberties and has too much filler, especially in the second season. Also the classic music is woefully underutilized, there's like one good moment with it.

most of season 2 was some of the worst I've ever watched

I think it would be a decent show if not for the Reddit-tier dialogue.

Don't watch that junk. Let me put it to you this way, Masahiro Sakurai did a more loyal adaptation of Castlevania than the SJW faggots who made this abortion of an abomination. Fucking hell. How does a Castlevania series not have Death, the mummy, Frankenstein's creature? It was basically Game of Thrones with vampires and here's the worst part of it, Game of Thrones has loads of talking but the talking politics in Netflix Castlevnia is that one drunkard viking vampire and Carmilla the other vampire lords stayed mute like Link from Legend of Zelda. So the back and forth got tiring and was never not even acceptable the first time viewing it. And they keep on getting everything wrong. It's just BAD. And I hate how many retarded sheep pretend it's good just to spite Konami because Konami no longer makes any games at all (much less Castlevania games).

No. Whatever beef you got with Konami do NOT pretend this shit is good. It's garbage and the people who made it should be killed Vlad Tepes style.

>and the show is constantly trying to frame her as a master strategist.
No it doesn't. She gets played hard in the end and she has a complete mental breakdown, with her immediate response being saying "What the fuck was that?" and then she becomes physically abusive.
Also the "feminist" critique is retarded, because she's meant to be the villain. If you hated her so much, that's good because you're supposed to hate her.

The moment to moment animation can be pretty mediocre but the fight scenes are very well animated. The resolution in season 2 was pretty cliche but it was still a decent ride. Humor was terrible though.

It's not that she's a master strategist, but rather that every male character in the franchise is written like a stupid manchild and that's another thing WHY did the script of this abomination constantly repeatedly describe every male character as a manchild? It was even more out of place than the fucking constant OVER swearing that got extremely annoying to hear.

This was garbage. Trash. And fuck anyone who enjoyed this shit.

Someone please answer this

People on Yea Forums and Yea Forums legitimately like this shit and many think Carmilla is a great character.

Carmilla's shtick is she being loyal to Dracula. The only reason she was a treasonous cunt in this incarnation is because they obviously hired modern day politically correct faggots who are trying to bring Casltevania into the modern sensibilities....even though the series literally takes place centuries before the first MeToo cunt was born.

I really hope they do SOTN but actually do the Richter being the second strongest Belmont thing with it. Have it so Richter is completely kicking Alucard's shit in until he spots shaft.

>Carmilla's shtick is she being loyal to Dracula.
Carmilla never had a "shtick". She's only ever had a speaking role like twice in the series and one of those was a noncanon fighting game.
Anyone with a brain that saw that a) Carmilla is there as a face that has a body attached and b) there's a guy that can resurrect corpses put two and two together and realized that Dracula's going to angrily rip her face off and bring it back to life as his loyal servant for betraying him.

>WHY did the script of this abomination constantly repeatedly describe every male character as a manchild?

Not every male character is described this way. The new Black Isaac is presented as serious and cunning. Of course can't have a black man be portrayed badly and of course he was made black to introduce the subplot of White Shame in regards to slavery because that is the literal background of Black Isaac Muh Slavery Feel Shame White Man. What a sack of shit.

I'm not going to pretend I like the canon actual version of Isaac, the homo faggot is also garbage, but I am very tired of the obvious anti-white messages and overtones in all media that have been going on since the 90s. Hope these people die painful fiery deaths.

Yes, Season 3's gonna be a loose adaptation of Curse of Darkness (the direct sequel to 3)

I'm not nearly enough of a Castlevania fanboi to be able to answer this question.

>but actually do the Richter being the second strongest Belmont

You want Strong Men in a NETFLIX production? Are you crazy. That's the last thing those latte drinking with HORSE CUM faggots will ever do. After all they don't want to glorify Toxic Masculinity. So yeah, how about we save Castlevania and not allow these sons of whores to do anymore harm?

Because last I checked these same bastards who made this abortion for Castlevania said they wanted to do Devil May Cry. No. I don't need Dante to be a good for nothing failure who doesn't know how to fight well or instead of pizza he's a worthless alcoholic drunkard with booze. Fuck these people to hell.

No, it's lore rape.

>No it doesn't.
But it does?
Her whole plan revolved around Sypha being successful in pining down the castle despite ignoring her existence.

>then she becomes physically abusive
It was her true nature, she had no reason anymore to keep it hidden.

>Also the "feminist" critique is retarded
Sypha contributed more in the defeat of Dracula and many vampire than the fucking vampire killer expert and the son of Dracula.
Carmilla goes "UGH MANCHILDREN" every 5 minutes or so, despite being the biggest womanchildren of them all.

I liked Black Isaac but his past and "muh slavery" was unironically cringe.

First season was pretty fun, second season had far less happening yet somehow had twice as many episodes

Attached: 1556822753965.jpg (600x647, 50K)

It's great. It's mostly Castlevania 3 with a dash of Curse of Darkness setup in season 2.

If it wasn't made by netflix, it would be great.

Season 1 was alright, pretty cool a lot of the time.
Season 2 was utter dogshit, with a terribly generic and predictable "conspiracy theme" and Dracula not doing a single fucking thing all season except for sitting bored infront of a fireplace.

My normie friends certainly liked it, but they also thought GoT season 8 was amazing.

Attached: 1558209620142.jpg (441x404, 87K)

Thank ya

Season 2 was fucking weird.

Attached: 1414788095603.jpg (1317x1281, 1.64M)

It really would have benefited from NOT being twice as long as season 1. Had they condensed all of what happens in it in half as many episode (but left episode 7 as-is) it would have instantly been better.

i enjoyed season 1 a lot but season 2 was pretty meh i couldn't really finish it

Season 2 had some of the shittiest normie-bait dialogue and unecessary, forced comedy scenes I've ever seen.
It really felt like your average trashy Netflix show trying to get the normies to laugh. It's on par with shit like Big Bang Theory's humor, but the worst offender is that it's happening constantly during a world that is supposed to be set in a brutal and frightful setting.
In the end, you lose all respect for the show and you can't take it seriously at all for all the stupid halfwit jokes it constantly throws at you.

>"UGH MANCHILDREN" every 5 minutes or so
complete bullshit.
she mentions it twice at most.

>Castlevania sitcom where all the white men are useless bumbling fools, the coloreds are smart, and all the women are utterly perfect who do no wrong and must go out of their way to help the poor helpless men
Of course, what else would you expect from Netflix?

the worst thing is that the director thinks of himself as a fucking creative genius, and he can't wait to put his sterile ideas into an official dmc show

I'm not going to rewatch that dumpster of a show just to prove you wrong but I'm fairly certain she said it more than just twice.
Regardless of the truth, the fact people remember her for that is pretty telling.

Pacing was really fucking wonky.
They spend like 7 episodes in a library looking for a solution to defeating Dracula then he literally lands at their doorstep.
Otherwise it's a really solid series. One of the very very few good video game TV adaptations.

>he literally lands at their doorstep.
They pulled him there. But yes, the three main characters essentially being side characters was a weird choice.

I liked it, but season 2 extended drama that led to nowhere is what kills the show, it has neat references, easter eggs, action scenes combat is nice too, like how demons explode when whipped like in the games for example.

It had the Netflix syndrome and why Marvel series couldn't be at the top of their game, they wanted to release a shitton of episodes for something small and filled it with boring dead sections instead of condensing everything so it had good flow.

>Castlevania sitcom where all the white men are useless bumbling fools, the coloreds are smart, and all the women are utterly perfect who do no wrong and must go out of their way to help the poor helpless men
I think you watched an entirely different show than me, because both Alucard and Trevor were the most-important characters in the show, Sypha was a support character at best, and the only white male who eats complete shit was Hector who got completely bitched because he's a total pussy.

I wish I could find the jap dub for the 2nd season.
Burger cartoon dubs are fucking horrendous, don't know how you guys can watch that, everyone sounds either bored or reading from a piece of paper they were handed 5 min earlier.

It has flaws but overall it's fantastic. 80% faithful to the source material which is a hell of lot more than most adaptations and the alternate/new stuff is great. Take the naysayers with a pinch of salt, they call it shit because both seasons only decided to show a handful of creature instead of blowing it's load showing everything all in one go. Glad it's not them in charge of the series.

Attached: 1546493223842.png (500x673, 336K)

this
all the writing was terrible and the dialogue was just cringe worthy for most of it

fpbp.
The only good scene was the first season's pro-tactics for dealing with vampires and the storming the castle itself but none of the scenes before or after.

>Burger cartoon dubs
...it's a Western show.

How can you ignore all the reasonable criticism that was posted in this thread and just generalize it under a stupid complaint like "lack of creatures"?
People like you have no taste and hold no proper opinion. You're the kind of guy that should be ignored.

>mfw I first heard manchild
It was so out of place. Then she says it like 3 or 4 times.

Attached: 1560403777566.gif (250x271, 991K)

The first four episodes showed promise, but the other 8 don't really deliver, and they spend most of the second part on a fucking library

You're such a fucking weeb holy shit

the sound design sucks

Attached: alucard.jpg (1549x1013, 242K)

Season one (First few episodes I think) Was pretty groovy), season two was a waste of my fucking life.
> and they spend most of the second part on a fucking library
Literally this. Also weirdly shoehorned homosexuality, and they blow through dracula's actual castle in one fight montage in one episode.

This thread
>Everything is bad. I just am not impressed by anything ever cause I am a jaded bitch
Look, I'm not even gonna argue that this Castlevania series is good or bad. What I want to know is, if you think it's bad, then what is the standard for good? I thought it was as good as anything else I've seen lately. What is there coming out lately that's so much better?

The director want's to do Berserk too. Good or bad?

Because I've had this argument with the detractors in here before and it's the same unreasonable expectations. It's no masterpiece but it ain't dogshit either.

Attached: 1548222593754.jpg (1798x2048, 562K)

berserk can't be done well. please just let it die

>Creates new OC for second season
>Takes up 80% of the show
>Does nothing meaningful that changes the course of the plot
>Dies a meaningless death that nobody cares about
WHAT WAS THE POINT THEN!?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 57K)

What is anything else?
Rick & Morty? Big Bang Theory? Silicon Valley? The Punisher? Black Mirror?

If this is your taste, you haven't seen anything good and it's embarrassing that you're posting here.

As long as they don't intend on rewriting any of the characters and hopefully skips Golden Age (nothing will top the 90s series), it could be pretty good.

You edgelord faggot

So my main problem is that
They ended up making Dracula almost an after thought. As I said they complete wreck his castle in the span of one montage and then him in one more montage. If most of the last eight episodes actually revolved around them fighting their way through the castle and shit, I would have liked it, but instead they just dick around in a library expositioning.
get the fuck out of here you normie

>Berserk gets another shitty adaption on its record

Attached: 1534605069034.jpg (125x104, 2K)

Because viking vampires are fucking rad.

>How is this show?
Because all you need to be a Netflix show is appeal to the Adult Swim crowd with lots of cussing and random/stupid humor. And throw in a little identity politics to please the dumb shareholders.

>It just adapts Castlevania 3, right?
Nope. It is a highly altered "based on" story mixing SotN and Castlevania III. But aside from having some of the same characters and enemies, 80% of the show is just pointless filler.

Despite having so few episodes, they waste most of it. For example, episode 1 of the first season is good. A strong retelling of Dracula and Lisa. And the gore scenes have a point. Actually really gets you pumped up to see more. Then the next few episodes are dick jokes, sex jokes, drunk jokes, "I'm a strong female character while the white male lead is a slob" plotline and so on. Typical Netflix garbage. Then it ends with a hint that the plot was finally starting. And what happens next season? If you said a strong plot and good development, you obviously didn't learn from season 1.

Show could have been good if it was handled by someone who is actually a good producer. And wasn't trying to appeal to Netflix.

>berserk can't be done well
>he hasn't seen the amazing BD release of the original series

At least watch episode 7 if nothing else.

He did fucking nothing tho
Him and the other "Higher vampires" raiden one shitty village, the rest was just him spouting ass and sitting around in the castle.

Dissent in the vampire hierarchy and how utterly disconnected Dracula is from them who's become nihilistic and wants to burn everything.

though the bloody tears fight made up for everything and you cant convince me otherwise

you're really easy to please user

>I thought it was as good as anything else I've seen lately.
And that's the problem. Most modern TV is crap. This isn't me being blinded by nostalgia. It's because modern Hollywood really is trash, purposefully sabotaging their shows with the same repeated shaming and virtue signaling they've been doing for over a decade. Turn on any Netflix or Prime Time show and you'll see the same plots. Even if it's in a fantasy or SciFi setting, you'll find all the same plots. Immigration, climate change, race, equal rights for women, etc. They all use the same plots. And even if you're a fan of the identity politics message, when EVERY show is doing it, it gets old. Everything feels like the same crap.

People can name a lot of better shows from the 80s or 90s or early 2000s because those periods really did have higher standards. You can also name better stuff coming out right now...from foreign markets.

Its really good. I enjoyed it.

hey I expected nothing and got something, it was definitely better than lords of shadow

>One half assed finale and fantastic scene with alucard and dracula made up for the entire mc cast spending the entire show in a library doing fuck-all until the final episodes
Episode 7 was a fantastic episode, But it doesnt even remotely make up for the shit that was the rest of the entire show.

Attached: 1523775873161.jpg (1024x1024, 123K)

>edgelord
Do you realize this shit was written by Warren Ellis? I mean, he is the true edgelord

Attached: castlevania ax10F8a copy.jpg (1100x500, 555K)

Completelly different plot. CVIII is a "travel" story about Trevor meeting the other three. The shows doesn't have nearly as much "travelling", they actually bring the castle to themselves. Also a million other differences, they just called three random characters the same names as the games and that's it.

>tfw no good mature animated dark fantasy series
It'd be so easy, cheaper than live-action, and I'm willing to bet there's a good audience for it. So why doesn't it fucking exist.

Attached: 271.jpg (500x803, 154K)

I remember you calling me edgy too for not liking this shit, I still don't get what you're trying to say

So I guess I'll just play the game then

Is the plot all layed out ingame, or is it one of those NES games where you need to read the manual to know the story?

>How is this show?
Is OK at best
>It just adapts Castlevania 3, right?
No, is more a mix of Ps2 castlevanias, plus SOTN lite and charas from castlevania 3 minus Grant. If you are looking for something related to Castlevania 3 you are out of luck, no Hammer vibe or Universal monsters here.

Attached: Sean Gordon Murphy Castlevania 3.jpg (2048x674, 357K)

The game has no actual plot outside of what the manual tells you, don't listen to the fuckhead here who lie and pretend that any of the NES/SNES games had halfway decent plots.

I dunno user, I've seen way worse, I feel its more like a rollercoaster that builds up in the right way

What do you consider mature? Gore and sex or just a strong storyline that kids would find boring? Either way, anime has done both.

First episode is a really good Symphony of the Night prequel.
After that, only the final fight for the second season is really great.
It's a good show, I suppose, but could have been way better and more respectful to some of the characters. Dracula alternates between being great and being dumb way too often.

Okay cool.

I was only wondering because like I said, I was told to play 3, rondo, and Symphony
I beat rondo, booted up symphony, and the intro was making a bunch of references to 3 so I figured I'd play it first or watch the anime, which I was told was an adaptation of the third game

Should I just not even bother and play Symphony anyway? Or should I watch the anime

The plot on the game itself is easy enough to understand from the game alone, but certain stuff are manual-only shit or is present on other games, like Sypha's past or mission which is 100% different from the show. She's basically a completelly different character.

But you are fine playing just the game to catch the idea.

A more depressing tone, the latter of your definitions. Give me anime recommendations though.

>80% faithful to the source material
how the fuck is this 80% faithful to castlevania 3. HOW!

Attached: castlevania-3-screen-to-screen.jpg (1200x669, 177K)

>reasonable criticism
>IT HAS STRONG WOMEN!
>I CAN'T BELIEVE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER ISAAC'S A NIGGER!

Attached: 09.jpg (1280x720, 154K)

Get the fuck out of here, Ellis. Go back to writing your edgy shit.

Castlevania 3 had no Hammer/Universal vibe, except for the reused assets from Castlevania 1.

And what are you gonna do about it if I don't? Cry to Jesus because "I" was mean to the poor Church?

it has three out of four playable characters and dracula gets killed at the end
That's all there is to the plot of Castlevania 3.

I know that.
It's still shit.

I'd play most games with the english dub because it's usually good, but this show is unwatchable.

Really makes me think...

Attached: castlemanchild.png (1403x307, 36K)

>The game has no actual plot outside of what the manual tells you.
The game pretty much like LOTR, where you travel to the bad guy and got a party on the road. You have choices, etc. The map alone tell you more story about the journey to castlevania than the whole show

Attached: castlevania III map.jpg (1869x1017, 480K)

For all the people complaining about Camilla. She is gonna her shit fucking rocked and be put in a mask next season. When they get to Simon he will fuck her shit up even more.

Which means it's a fucking standard monster slaying story. Congrats on the depth you've shown me.

Can't be worse than CGI Berserk at least.

its amazing

why did they turn one of the white villains into a gay black man?

Attached: 1560705801933.png (343x210, 88K)

I like Dark, though I can't stand the English overdub since they don't even try to sync the lip movements.

I've watched both of those, what about dark fantasy?

Because he just wanted to help

Animating in America ain't cheap.
Calarts shitters get paid 5 times their Japanese equivalent that is actually producing art.

The real question is why did they turn Hector into a bitch?
Isaac was already a faggot in his home game so that's at least right but Hector, the man who stormed the castle without a weapon because Death fucked with the wrong person suddenly becoming bitch tier was just poor writing.

>le feminism bogeyman
I'm surprised this wasn't the first post.
fpwp. the show is kino

The same reason they do it on every other show.

Shin Sekai Yori, just dont get bothered by the one really gay episode

Just look up Seinen anime.

He looks far less like a raging faggot in this incarnation

>Shin Sekai Yori
I'm a gay and I felt that thing was too gay
Made in Abyss is way better

What works in video games doesn't necessarily mean it will work in video media. What you ask for can be done with a high budget music video.

Not exactly the same, but if you watch Romance of the Three Kingdoms 2010 Cao Cao is kinda like that.

Seriously anything is less gay than OG Issac.

Politics, but wannabe anime.

>what is the mummy
>what is frankenstein monster
>What is classic dracula outfit
Castlevania was always a westaboo love letter for horror and fantasy films. Medusa, the cyclops, death and the skeletons are a nod to Harryhausen, even the final boss is the fucking Pazuzu.

Attached: pazuzu.jpg (1200x675, 117K)

Vampire Hunter D
Made in Abyss
FMA:B
Claymore maybe

Pazuzu has six wings and supposedly a lion head.

>reused assets from Castlevania 1

Sure, because show the team travelling and fighting mosters in the woods, then in a clock tower, a pirate ship, a sunken city, catacombs, etc, is less interesting than wait in a library.

>Castlevania 3 had no Hammer/Universal vibe
Everything, including Alucard, is a reference to mythology, horror books or horror movies. They didn't start creating original stuff until SotN and after. And even most of those games were still using mythology and known horror references. Just sticking some unique humanoid bosses and boss stages in the mix.

Attached: 1536510729709.jpg (800x761, 267K)

simple review, but I agree

retard

>Pazuzu has six wings and supposedly a lion head.
Movie pazuzu from The Exorcist

Retard.

first season was fine, but the script for the second is cringe

because it's hot

Why the fuck do you care about Castlevania's plot? You don't need supplementary material. What the fuck.

And thats because they want to keep the movie element present. Even the roll film from japanese and american versions try to keep a nod to horror and fantasy films.

Attached: castlevania roll film.png (512x224, 4K)

It's good. There are some plot changes for obvious reasons. I like it a lot, though.

I was told it was cool I dunno

Season 3 was just confirmed

But Carmilla is like that in the game.

>just
It was confirmed last year months before Season 2 even aired.

Based and Wei-pilled

Attached: raffing.webm (1920x1080, 1.24M)

>plot
Keep it simple, having characters travelling and fighting monsters, still better than teleport the castle with no travel. They didnt want to do castlevania 3, the whole thing goes full SOTN. There is nothing closer or true to Akumajo Densetsu.

Attached: akumajo densetsu.jpg (1024x768, 173K)

So Deathnote, but you stop watching after episode 25?

There's a reason why they're asked to write and produce an animated series and you aren't.

It's piece of video game translated to the silver screen

I have actually been meaning to give that one a try. I watched a handful of episodes, but I haven't gone deep into it yet.

Death Note didn't do it for me, for some reason.

You watched it in a movie theater? Sounds pretty sick.

>There's a reason why they're asked to write and produce an animated series and you aren't.
cocksucking?

I'm not even gonna mention anything plot related, the mere fact that the animations have like 10 frames per second is enough to make it trash for me.

>There's a reason why they're asked to write and produce an animated series and you aren't.
We are talking about Adi Shankar, the guy behind "The Apu problem".

Yes. It's because you're so good at it that they want to be sure you're always available. So they gave the work to someone else

No we're not. That was Hari Kondabolu.
Shankar just made his own short video weighing in on the issue.

The plot is told in the opening cutscene, don't listen to this retarded secondary

Attached: Castlevania III opening (Translated).png (1024x4480, 55K)

>everyone who has connections and money in Hollywood got it because they deserve it

Adi got the job, so he busy with japanse and jewish cocks right now. I mean, look a this fag.

This would imply people in Hollywood are chosen by merit and talent. And the very content they put in their shows proves the exact opposite.

>Shankar just made his own short video weighing in on the issue.
>issue
what a fag.

The games are fun but caring about the plot would be like caring about the lore in Mario. You just jump around and whip zombies.

>Dracula got over his anger of having his wife burned at the stake in less than a year

The nigga dead for now

Goths aren't gay, dumbass

The entire introduction glosses over anything that was added after it fuckhead.

That's kinda cool, but also what the fuck?

Sure Adi ;)

Attached: gay goths.jpg (1280x720, 112K)

>Is the plot all layed out ingame, or is it one of those NES games where you need to read the manual to know the story?
Yes, it does. You'd know this if you fucking started the game, you literally just have to download an emulator and load the ROM to know this, it happens before you even start the first stage. Yet you're here giving your shit opinions on games you haven't played, trying to save face on an anonymous imageboard.

>I never played the game
Go and watch more netflix kid, you are on the wrong board.

Because white people can't be slaves, user.
