Much worse. TOR still lived a long life, and for all his mistakes, had very good points : story was very nice, pvp was brainless but fun, lot of roleplay, a shit-ton of content with two extensions that were very good and created something new in the star wars universe.

Anthem is beyond bad in everything. You don't have any purpose to play it. The story is bad, the only good things are the graphics and the core gameplay. But there is one area, and it's just a brainless looter shooter with 0 loot.

All Bioware had to do was make a Warframe clone with Mass Effect. ME3's coop was insanely good. They should've expanded on it.

At least TOR had redeeming aspects with some good stories (namely Agent and Warrior) and is still bringing in some cash. Anthem just seems like a total clusterfuck

They don't wanna crunch, or get more people on the team to work on it. I think they did an interview at the Geoff Colosseum thing and he said theres like 100 people on the team for apex. So not only are they not pushing out much needed frequent updates they are also not doing anything about their small ass team size to work on this game so its double the slow when it needs to be the other way around.

Anthem had at least extremely satisfying core gameplay, abilities and movement with a system that greatly benefitted having a coordinated team.

It's everything else though is just painful though from the molasses load times to do fucking anything to it's leisurely walk hub which takes minutes to get through to anything because there's no fucking fast travel or menu option to use significant hub features or its just godawful performance in general even on powerful machines. For someone who can easily get division 2 on ultra to run 120 fps anthem runs inconsistently between 70-80 with drops to 50s regularly on high settings

BioWare is a highly expensive large studio, so trying to pivot them away from what the are good at (whether you personally agree or not, they sold relatively well) to a saturated market they have no experience in. it's like saying " planes are cool, lets put all our best truck drivers in cockpits!" Apex was a much better way of going about it. it was a quit low risk throwaway tittle from a studio that is primarily experienced in making fast paced first person shooters. Who was also working on a second larger project. it had way more chances at success, and yet was probably way cheaper and less risky to make/market.

Bioware has always been overrated. I've tried to replay several Bioware staples recently and couldn't get through any of them. The same games I use to get through twice a year. The standard bioware template lets you hit all the notes and make a passable game, but outside of BG2, nothing awe inspiring. Beside certain gems and moments (mob, Kotor reveal) their fame came from a lack of true rpg competition then their own talents.

Same reason most other beloved game studios fucking suck now. They get bought out by corporate megahouses that pressure them to maximize short term profit no matter what which stifles creativity.
