shit turn based combat
a visual novel with skill checks and tactical combat scenarios placed in between
It’s a good game, but don’t be a retard with character creation. Choose ONE thing and do it very well, you will not be able to be a jack of all trades, the skill checks are brutal. If you spec as a smooth talking trader don’t fucking try to enter the colliseum.
Skill checks on skill checks and quite good writing. Combat is a little clunkly and will kick your ass if you don't prepare.
Some of the most bullshit RNG in the history of gaming, but nah seriously, it's a very fun game that is well written.
I played through with assassin, what other builds are fun?
So you end up having to specialize so hard you might have to skip being good at combat entirely? Can you finish the game like that? (Not looking for spoilers, but for example in Underrail combat was 100% necessary, it made that apparent pretty early on though)
Sounds pretty much like what got me hyped for it.
Too much rng for your tastes?
Combat is completely unnecessary. Unfortunately it can sometimes be hard to judge whether or not you will be able to pass a skill check, and quite a few of them lead to instant failure states. Just specialize your character and don’t be too stupid and you should be fine. Don’t be afraid to savescum.
interesting world setting and story buildup
multiple viewpoints of events depending on choices/starts
getting into combat as a non-combat character is a great way to get your body parts fed to pigs
there are some kinda bullshit skill checks at various points for how tight skill points are, though they're rarely required to progress in some manner or another
