They don't really improve anything or make anything worse to recommend the original or the remake. Like the N. Sane Trilogy had different physics than the original but Spyro's physics never mattered as much as Crash's because it wasn't a tight obstacle platformer. The only real downside of the remake is the gems being harder to see but you get gem finder in every game now. Also some of the more notable challenges from the original like the trolley and hunter segments seem easier but that may just be because we're not kids anymore
The remake merely exists with the original for those who want better graphics and a new look for characters

It's strange but Spyro might be the only time I've ever seen a remake only improve the graphics which is what most people say they want but it's actually kind of underwhelming. Like people argue that N. Sane is worse because of the physics on jumps, the jetski, the bike races and they added shit like time trials to 1 and 2 but there's literally nothing to argue about except graphics for Reignited.
