Reusing the (futureproofed) models is a good thing, because it frees up development resources to improve on other assets instead of having to remake hundreds of models every single game.

Well the first major red flag is that the Slowking has Skill Swap which switches abilities with another Pokemon.
Slaking has legendary-tier stats but is burdened with the ability Truant, which has it attack only once every other turn.
Evice usually throws out Slowking and Slaking together.
Slowking would use Skill Swap on Slaking, which means Slaking no longer has Truant, meaning it's free to wail on you every turn.
Many unsuspecting players get rekt because of that.

The game just kept getting worse and worse with each new expansion. It's no longer an RPG, it's effectively a single-player 3rd person shooter with some very very light RPG elements, that you can sometimes play multiplayer with other people. Other people that you will never see again afterward because they're from another server.

Among other things. Point is, game has gone to shit, beyond repair, and yet it still has enough players to be profitable so they keep making more shitty expansions.

You don't just decide to "add" something to the game a couple of months before release.
Last months of development are not even about programming; Shipping, marketing, etc is what takes place during those last months.

You can still use Pokemon that aren't in the Regional Dex. I can go to the GTS as soon as I get the Pokedex at the start of the game and bring in Pokemon that aren't listed and use them with no problem. And Many people did just that.

demo builds exist though, usually demo builds include only a chunk of the game and are hacked together from finished chunks of the main game. It was probably just easier to put in only the battle portion and leave out the backgrounds
