It's weird game games have always had women and diversity, at least from Japan, and westerners rewound the clock, or revise history over politics.

I hate "bad" and frankly "Shoehorned" representations of women, PoC, and LGTBQ+.
Nobody can be subtle. Nobody can be well written and also be any of these three categories.
Everyone has to be a gross exaggeration of these three categories to writer.
You life is a fucking book. 30 out of 35 chapters shouldn't be one long string of the words "I'm gay/trans/a ethnicity/a woman/bisexual/what have you~~~~~~~~~~~~"
It should be a fucking footnote briefly touched on and lightly sprinkled through out the book.

Seriously, I think 99% of the problem with gaming culture is media illiteracy outside of video games. We wouldn't be hearing complaints about "shoehorned in" "forced" representation if people read some goddamn literature. People only know how to have mindless video games and blockbuster movies shoved down their throat and anything other than media designed specifically for their demographic makes them lose their minds. Guess what? You've had shit that pandered to you all your life, and you're only noticing and upset by "diverse" media because companies are making things that pander to someone else. Consume some goddamn real art for once in your life and you'll stop having strong feelings about other races or sexualities in your games. I can't imagine a person putting down a Don DeLillo book or coming out of seeing an Agnes Varda movie and then later going back to "ugh, forced girl characters in my games!!" Arcade was a great character. He was gay but you had to pry into his dialog to get him to say it. after that he never really ever brings it up. Because nobody should unless asked.
Gears did some black characters well.
Prey didn't native Americans well.
Hell Prey 2 did basically every ethnicity well.
It's very possible to make games with these types of characters. But everyone just goes for the stereotypical. Flamboyant and in your face.
Only thing I hated about Dragon Age 3 outside of the occasional quest blocking bugs was Dorian and his storyline and character being "I'm gay".
