I'm fuck
because its the shame shit I already bought except for 60 dollars. It needs a 40 dollar or less price tag.
Because the game looks like an rpg maker game and is fucking $60. Bland JRPG bullshit pumped out by square...who gives a shit.
PC has 50 years of real RPG games on it, no one cares
Because it's a port, and not a new game, perhaps?
There were countless "lel Switch lost an exclusive JRPG, no reason to buy it now" threads. I doubt you missed them. Those weren't hype threads?
>year old game
>$60 price tag for a game with decades old everything about it.
welcome to square enix
Because nintincels will go batshit insane even at a mere shitty rpgmaker tier rpg as long as it's "exclusive".
The lowest of the lows.
Original was an exclusive, so it generated more shitposting. Port is not an exclusive and it's old now, so fewer people care about it.
Same reason it was a failure on switch.
Its a boring game that comes with a 60€ price tag while at best being worth 25
have sex eight times
Because it's mediocre and only got attention because switch had no good JRPGs at the time
High price tag and Denuvo probably didn't help.
the pricing is fucked
What did they mean by this?
Console gamers get excited about exclusives even if they are shit because they want to support their platform of choice
PC gamers not so much, they are happy to play 2004 version of WoW as long as it's fun
Why are JRPGS so shit and easy. The combat always seems so useless since it's all just bullshit skills and spells you never use because everything is immune to everything or dies in 2 normal attacks?
^has never played a JRPG past the first two hours
There are thousands of rpg maker games on pc (many free to play even). There aren't on Switch. The difference should be obvious.
So much bloom and blur, it's like I'm really in 2006 again
$60 is way too much
Too expensive for a port.
Not lewd enough either for the ironic weeb audience on steam to pick it up.
when it came to pc people actually realized it's a shit game
Name 1 JRPG that you actually have to think about class building and strategies during a battle?
I want to play it but I literally have thousands of other PC games to play first.
Almost any mainline SMT and most of the spinoffs. Play Devil Survivor, practically a puzzle game in terms of finding just the right team comps and builds.
The only interesting part about the game was it being a Switch exclusive. Otherwise, it's just a generic as fuck JRPG with pixel shit graphics being sold for 70 bucks.
its not even a good game, its just that switchfags have nothing and will eat up whatever gets shit on their plate.
>$60 for a port
lol
Octopath did better than SE thought it would.
Denuvo doesn't hurt sales. Piratefags like you just cry constantly and think you're opinion matters
>there's this niche series...
okay retard
they're nintendo kids, they'll be hype for anything as long as it's exclusive
Because console fags actually play games. While pc fags bitch they don't have the games the console fags have, then when the game comes over to pc they don't make a single sound. Pc fags just want things to have them.
SaGa
All the threads get shitposted to death. It's incredibly hard to actually discuss the game.
killer7 sold more on PC than console
Nah, we had a thread yesterday with decent discussion going on.
It's not cracked yet
Yea Forums is full of poorfags who dont talk about games they cant pirate due to cucknuvo
I also want to know this. Not due to shitposting, I just want recommendations.
Because anyone who actually enjoys video games already owns switch + PC.
Etrian Odyssey
Because it's a bad game? Switch owners hyped it so hard because it was the first turn-based JRPG their console got when anyone else dismissed it as Final Fantasy clone #3548.
I briefly considered buying it but it's way too damn expensive in my currency.
Then I missed it. What a shame.
Every Etrian Odyssey game. Those are dungeon crawlers rather than typical JRPGs, though.
Devil survivor is just too slow for me.
Everyone is naming dungeon crawlers instead of JRPGS. Is that because JRPGS are just casual filth furrfag bullshit?
SE pricing meant everyone outside America was paying more then for a physical switch copy.
Because Denuvo, the game hasn't been cracked yet. Since we can't pirate it, Yea Forums isn't talking about it yet.
>When it was out on Switch there were threads constantly.
Manwithglassesandopenmouth.jpg
It sold 1.5 million copies.
>In Order of Greatness (Descending)
>Alfyn
>Olberic
>Cyrus
>Teresa
>H'aanit
>Primrose
>Therion
>Ophelia
Alfyn is best boy.
Alfyn is broken.
why would I want to spend 60 to replay a game I didn't even finish
Because now we know it's not actually all that good.
BD1 it ain't.
Those millions of switch will go to waste if people don't buy crap games for it.
Splatoon that childish browser looking game too sold millions.
I take it you believe your opinions are superior to all other opinions?
In my country the game is almost double the price of most AAA games, just like Valkyria chronicles 4. It's fucking retarded.
game is shit, what did you expect
This is the correct answer.
Same price as Cyberpunk
KEK
is this jrpg "epic" at all, in depth, or is just a bunch of small snippet stories that overall just feels not worth your time?
>Why did the PC release get no hype.
$60 for a cheap-looking retro console port that only appeals to diehard old-school JRPG fans, with Denuvo cancer slapped on for good measure.
>When it was out on Switch there were threads constantly.
Switch has nogaems, so everything that comes out is instantly hyped to high heaven even when it's as unremarkable as Octopath. If it had come out on any other platform it would've gotten the same reception as it's getting on PC now.
Have you tried not living in a 3rd world country?
Like most consoles game that come to PC. We realized they were shit.
Because there are already 10000 rpg maker games on Steam, and they don't cost $60.
>splatoon
>browser looking
What kinda browser games you playing that look like Splatoon?
Except Bloodborne? That's a game that won't be called shit when it comes to PC?
Ironically the final boss of the game in the OP, the rest of the game is a cakewalk though.
Because by now people have figured out that it's a mediocre game.
PC Mustard Race doesn't buy games. People won't touch it unless its 66% off.
See:gameprime.org
Does the PC version let you turn any of that shit off?
The truth is it's kind of a hard game and most of the guys shitting on it are awful at it/stuck fighting the bosses for 30 minutes becasuse they have no idea what they're doing, it's great, nothing makes me enjoy a game more than knowing i'm surrounded by complete shitters who can only complain
What makes this game better than all other RPGs on the market?
if anyone makes mods for it maybe, I liked it though, it's like the only 2D RPG with lighting like that so it makes it stand out
PC is Piece of Crap thats why
it looks generic and like nothing new. don't want to risk $60 on an rpg not likely to be as good as golden kino
PC has actual RPGs, so we don't care about jRPG shit
Its extremly bland vidia with awful performance (thanks denuovo), awful price (even in russia it costs 60$ while other AAA titles are there sold typically for 20$ because low purchaging power), awful graphics (seriously, its ugly, this indie shit tier stylisation is ugly). Not to mention its JRPG. It takes a lot of effort to make turn based jrpg fun or engaging.
And very bleh story.
I pirated it the first time and I'll probably pirate if it's on PC, if your not poor like me though you should buy
it's a pretty challenging game, levels don't do that much, most of your damage is generated by team comp and equipment, and depending on the route you take you'll be fighting with bosses with inflated stats before your properly geared so you have to know what you're doing
Piratefags like me don't check for Denuvo because we already own it
nah
There was more excitement in the Switch version's prerelease threads because the price wasn't known yet, and people kept speculating the game was going to be so much more than it was actually advertised to be.
>awful performance (thanks denuovo)
The game runs on basically anything with a graphics card. The DRM doesn't actually affect performance unless horribly implemented. That is a stupid myth.
Because we all know Nintendo kids like to make games look more important that they are just to pad on their games list.
Pretty sure it had been up for pre-order for ages
Is it better to mix classes that min-max certain stats? Alch-War, Scholar-Cleric and the like? Or should you try and make better all-rounders?
The Switch has no good games so it has no standard. The PC has higher standards.
It's a generic mess and a terrible game in general, and people generally don't enjoy getting scraps, at full price, WITH malware.
Because PC players have different standards
Yea Forums is just invaded by retards who hate jrpgs and rather play indies and shooters all day
> PC release get no hype
Because it's not cracked (yet).
what characters did you use for your initial playthrough?
I've never met an intelligent person who likes RPGs, they're all 'play what's in front of you types' with zero ability for abstract concepts
>$60
>denuvo
That's a big YIKES from me. I'll buy it when it goes on sale
because this game sucks
>anything with a graphic cards
Most students these days have a notebook without dedicated gpu. And this game has no reason to shutter like it does on such hardware. We can either blame denuovo cancer or incopentent jap developers. The end result is the same.
> pc gaming
its LITERALLY a rpg xp maker game, no one wants that shit anymoire
If that's the case then that is my mistake, but my latter point was really the bigger one. Octopath threads were mostly people hyping themselves up on what the game COULD be, and then over the course of the week of release, a massive fallout happened because it didn't match up with the expectations everyone built up themselves.
Wouldn't a nintencel be someone who does not play nintendo games?
They do though. Kemco garbage sells gangbusters.
The issue here is the price point. kemco garbage is ~$10 and sells millions. This is $60. No one will pay that when they can get 6 games for that price instead. Squenix is fucking retarded. The game is also a year old. I'd even excuse the price if they added new content but it's literally just the switch game.
>incopentent
Well, it's not denuvo. It's the game. You can run it at 30fps 720p with dedicated graphics, but it isn't the games fault that "students" have shitty laptops. They had their target platform of the Switch and made a game in unreal engine using various effects that work best with literally any graphics card. Does that make them incompetent?
generally its better to stick to characters strengths with similar classes but it's sometimes worth diving into off classes for certain passive skills like the warriors break damage limit on Cyrus
If it was 15$ Id get it but anything over that is too much. Especially with no overarching story
can hardly see shit in this pic lmao
without*
60€ is way too much. 25-30€ would have been okay. Gonna wait for a sale someday.
Dunno, all i see are 2D sprites and "3D" background. Such game could run on 20 years old hardware if they wanted.
Even alladin looks better than octopath. And that is very harsh fact.
Its a game better played portable anyway.
check your eyes
>asks for example
>gets one
>"t-that one doesn't count..."
Genius of Sappheiros
That sounds like a personal problem. Are you intentionally making poor faith arguments or are you just ignorant?
It's an incredibly generic jrpg with a boring story, hacknied gameplay, and fucking attrotious, cringey voice acting. It has two gimmicks. The first is that it ostensibly resembles a 16 bit top down RPG, except it fails, because all of the sprite work is obscured by ugly bloom effects that are higher resolution than the sprites. The second gimmick is that the story is divided among eight different characters, which fails due to all eight of the fuckers and their stories being utterly boring. That's really the crux of the problem, it's so fucking bland. Plus, the things it tries to do have been done so much better by much smaller teams. Look at shovelknight, for example, a game which genuinely evokes the feel of 3rd and 4th generation hardware. And this game is actually surpased by the games it's calling back to! FFVI and chrono trigger are 25 fucking years old and yet they have more engaging gameplay, better characters, and a better story than octopath. They even LOOK better, especially FFVI. And it's not like there haven't been better looking sprite RPGs than those! The first two golden sun games are audiovisual masterpieces, and they're on the GBA!
Remember to get your second jobs early on! Skills like Evasive Maneuvers helps getting most of them early on even if your out leveled in the shrine areas
i don't buy games with more than 1 drm
This is the shit I'm talking about, what kind of fucking retard puts DOF blurring over low resolution sprites?
can't relate, I didn't really care what the game was supposed to be I just picked it up with no expectations and enjoyed it
That's part of the appeal. Nobody is forcing you to like everything other people like. Just don't buy it.
I went in with refund-expectations and promptly sunk 60 satisfied hours in it. It's one of the very few games this gen with an actually interesting open world.
How many women have you spoken to in the past year?
I played both demo's on switch, do I need to play the full game now? I think I had my fill. It was okay. Not really a story or characters or setting I care about and was a lot of text
Convince me why I should buy it?
overpriced
The thread asked why I wasn't hyped
it's a jrpg return to form, with a decently presented story for those who want it, and layered gameplay that keeps the experience fresh througout the duration of a 40+ hour game through good use of stagger, which keeps things on the offensive for either party, either you being the one doing massive damage or taking it once they come off and your left vulnerable, along with tons of options through different class customization, it's not groundbraking, but it's everything you should want out of this kind of game. It resembles the best looking game of the 16 bit era but with that added sheen, meticulous work is put into every environment, from houses the landscape of the enviroment, it's arguably one of the best looking hand drawn games made with that particular retro look in mind. The stories themselves to a good job of keeping things interesting, from the cute Tressa and her interest in mercantilism and her journey through diferent towns trying to strike out on her own, inspiring that sense of youthful adventure jrpgs are so good at, to the darker and more adult themes that characters like Cyrus and Primrose adapt, dabling into the occult and the world of espinage and murder, it's all there for those who want it, or don't, you can skip it all and speedrun the game 10 different ways depending on who you decide you want your initial roll to be, it's all whatever you want it to be, and the amount of choice to be had is stagering. You can really tell the team behind this game had a lot of passion put into it, every sidequest and of the beaten path dungeon has it's own story to tell, they go out of their way to try to keep every experience as unique as it can be, and I really admire that.
I agree with Golden Sun being a beter looking game, although it's also going for a different style, using pseudo 3D just ported over to a 2D only engine, and that's mostly because camelot initialy wanted to make the game for N64, and just had that assets being made already.
what was your route faggot
I had no trouble shitting on any of the bosses aside from Galdera and that was mostly because of the retarded way Gate of Finis was handled. The game is easy and shit.
all JRPGs are easy, that's part of the appeal, when a game is entirely turn-based the only required strategy is knowledge of the game that's sufficient enough to beat it quickly with no set backs, mastery of this is what makes the games fun
this. and it's not cracked yet.
so if no one's buying it and no one's pirating it, then no one's playing so no one's talking about it
if was mildly intrigued by what I'd heard/seen of it but the price put me off. what were they thinking?
If you like micro, that's perfectly fine. Not every RPG needs to cater to ADHD dumdums. The writing, on the other hand, is fucking boring, and not in a way that could possibly be 'intentional'. Slice of life anime tier. This is at least partially due to the fact that it does go in so many different possible directions, so they can't push too hard without tone whiplash. You're also massively overselling the graphics. Most of the sprites are barely over modern stock gamemaker tier, and forshortened 2D backgrounds haven't been impressive for over a decade. Also the shitty bloom lighting should just be removed entirely. You want a good looking hand drawn 2D game? Motherfucking hollow knight.
pc doesn't have to jump on every single release because nogames
Cause PC has more indie trash RPGs on it than switch does. Nintendo fans also tend to be SE fanboys.
Game sucks.
Game on Swith = good
Game on any other platform = meh or bad
This shit should come out on mobile, that's be great.
It is.
I mean what else is there to be hyped about anymore? People have already seen what’s up. Ain’t even trying to shit on the game, just saying it’s dumb as hell when you expect Hype for something that ain’t even new anymore.
Steam is barely DRM so it doesn't count.
>Switch gets a port
OMG THANKS FOR BETA TESTING WOOHOo
?
It's not a good game and people already knew that before it came out on PC
And what’s your point here? You PC owners to act that Söy too?
>PC gets a Nintendo port
"Not enough transgender furries, pass."
Nintendo should port BotW on PC to get a few million sales
I called this and no one believed me. "Bravely Default" remained a 3DS exclusive, they said. Yawn. SE doesn't make exclusives anymore
>implying botw is worth playing anywhere
most overrated game of 2018
and let their cash cow fisher price tablet lose any purpose? i dont think so
What JRPG should I play that isn't Octopath then if the game is bland and completely mediocre?
>Devil survivor
>Hard
I was fucking around and the only boss I could not hear first try was Lucifer. Don't get me wrong excellent game, but not a benchmark for difficulty or options really
They could try to fish more PC users by using BotW as advertisement for BotW 2
I think most people who wanted it already bought it on the Switch. It was pretty uncertain whether this game was going to come to other platforms or not. A lot of people also weren't really happy with it still being $60 despite being a year old game.
Monster girl quest paradox is the best jrpg available on pc
That's the whole point of JRPGs. The guys at Enix liked Ultima and Wizardry and then made their own casual console vision of a RPG, then Dragon Quest was born.
whats wrong with her eyebrows?
Skies of Arcadia
If they do that then I don't even buy 2 on the chance that it gets ported. I probably won't even buy it anyways because botw was so disappointing but still.
any of the JRPG greats, really
Retro pixel is garbage, put all eyecandy on it all you want, it's still a turd
>nothing makes me enjoy a game more than knowing i'm surrounded by complete shitters who can only complain
You just know it's a shit game when your only incentive to play it is to laugh at others. Get some taste
When I bought it for the switch I couldn't even finish it. There is a class that is so broken it let me farm max jobs on everyone with no effort, and one class that is so shit and I wanted it to be good so bad I ended up putting it away half way through.
I might give it another chance now that I don't know what to play.
This list is the best kind of bait, because it combines correct opinions, hot takes, and complete nonsense
Coz everyone played it already and realised that once you strip away the gimmick retro graphics (which look shit because sprites look wonky due to uneven scaling in a 3d environment and must be heavily filtered), it's an extremely slow, repetitive game with mediocre writing.
I figured I’d ask how I am Setsuna is since it’s on sale on the PS store.
It's worth nowhere near 60 bucks regardless of difficulty.
Because when it was coming out on Switch the system had fuck-all games. PC got shitton of much better JRPGs as is. But I am really hyped for SaGa releases on steam, wish it also included Unlimited.
It's baffling to me that Suikoden is top tier and Golden Sun is shit tier when they play exactly the same. It's not like Suikoden is even more refined, if you know what you're doing that game breaks just as hard as any other JRPG. You could say like yeah, the story in Suikoden is clearly better but that doesn't explain shit like Grandia or DQ or even SMT being in higher tiers, games with mediocre gameplay and mediocre stories.
Swap Primrose and Ophilia and I'll respect that list
You can delete my post mods, but you're still faggots.
A port of Baby's First RPG Maker Game? From Baby's First Console? And it was hyped by Baby's First Fanbase? And then it came to PC and none of the adults gave two shits? Well, that IS surprising! Almost as surprising as this 5.
Pirate this garbage. There's not even any mod support.
