God, I hope Shantae 5 isn't just 95% of reused assets from Half-Genie Hero. We haven't seen anything of the game yet but that new Shantae design gives me some hope. Hopefully this one actually has a story and Pirate's Curse style level layouts.
I just don't want this game to suck and feel rushed, I want to be able to not feel ashamed when I say "Shantae could get in Smash" because Half-Genie Hero was just bad and didn't give her any decent backing at all

You're in for a story that is all over the place and some tedious level design. I love first three Shantae games (Not so much Risky's Revenge though), and Half-Genie Hero just feels mashed together to hell and back

A little bit, but I wouldn't mind Shantae sticking with a middle ground between her Pirate's Curse and GBC designs. The constantly changing art styles each game isn't really working out for her. I hated how some characters in-game sprites looked in Half-Genie Hero. Background and levels were great but Shantae herself was very off putting

Because younger characters are more interesting, they're still learning and developing. Fully grown adult characters don't really have a chance to grow, because at that point they've already grown. And where would the fun and challenge be if you start the game with fully developed magic

the only interesting part about a youth isn't even the youth itself, it's the prospects and potentials that, when you eliminate all the possibilities that just won't happen in the end, you get just another small chiseled element that may or may not be anything meaningful or significant at all
but that doesn't make the youth itself interesting, you're just fellating concepts of potential of growth

Shantae has been "developing" for 5 games now. She's been 16 for years. And I don't mean start the game off with full on magic. Have it like a normal Shantae game where she learns magic and transformations through the game, but make her older, the magic stronger, and she is a stronger genie with stronger enemies to fight.
