Civ 6 didnt really wow me when it first came out and non of the expansions seems great either. Im just waiting for the complete edition when they are done working on the game, then Ill pick it up... probably on sale. Are they still working on 6 content?

what has bugged me is they'll add all this cool shit with expansions then when they move on to the next number they strip it down to the previous games vanilla or worse just so they can sell more expansions.
nickel & diming civ dlcs has killed me on civ as well
Hunter Bennett
Civ 6 lost me with their meme nations like Canada and Australia and also their "it's the current year" female diversity quota leader picks like Gorgo for Greece and Catherine de Medici for France.
Carson Perry
Pretty much the Sims model.
Every gen gets a little prettier graphics and a new gimmik to the gameplay, but you have to wait 5 years for them to sell you the rest of the game back piece by piece but with less content each gen.
Carson Richardson
Civ5 started that trend. Arguably, Civ6 was better at launch than Civ5, but I bet that the same thing will happen for Civ7.

I don't mind the meme nations since you can fill the world map more evenly , but god kill me with the shit women quota. I'd rather have three more niggas who actually were important once, than some dumb quota bitch, just because some SJW-shithead from firaxis refuses to accept the fact, that feminism wasn't a thing before the 20th century

I find that introducing Canada and Australia over say Portugal is complete and utter bullshit on the same level as the female quota

civ 5 is alright now. Civ 4 is still the better civ game. And Alpha Centauri is still the king in the same genre.

One of the biggest reason I think that Civ4 is inferior to Civ6 and even Civ5 is the combat.
Sure is FUN and TACTICAL to have those stack-of-doom versus stack-of-doom fights.
Anyway, Colonization is better than any of those anyway. Civ4: Colonization with "Authentic Colonization" mod is also pretty top tier.

Massive production increase across the line, mostly due to making non-hill tiles better. Lumber mills are buffed and you can build them in jungle tiles. Industrial hub buildings buffed across the line, all late game district buildings require less production to make, specialists provide more yields with later game buildings. Also massive industrial district adjacency bonuses added to aqueduct and dams. Unused great people points get turned into faith, pantheons are remade to streamline them and even include options for nations who don't want to pursue religious play, giving them a free settler or a free worker with some pantheon choices.
My main problem with civ6 was the fact that the production is so goddamn low that the only way to build anything in less than 15 turns was by juggling Magnus across your empire while chopping everything you can. This patch seems to address that.
Christian Hughes

The late game production cost in the base game was stupid. Building spaceship parts is just painful. But another big problem was the whole fresh water system making population growth so slow. Did they fix that?
Nicholas Butler
Fitting, because Jadwiga was used as a cock-pocket by the Lithuanian king since she was 12 years old. That's the only thing she did of note in her short, 25 year life. She was an awful pick for a Polish leader

this is the main issue, I can't get any good wars out of the AI and multiplayer online requires you to go for subs asap. The mods that fix AI usually can't keep up with the patches and its always thrown off
Kevin Price
Why has no one made this H-game? Just clone Civilization but add in some system where you can trade sexual favors or take sex slaves if you conquer a civ. Could have either real historic leaders, or mostly rule 63 ones, or original characters.
Nolan Perry
It's not about fresh water, it's about housing (which fresh water affects). Managing housing will be easier too, since most things that increase it also require an investment of production. And aqueducts are now less of a waste of a slot, with their adjacency bonus for industrial hubs.
Still, growth in civ6 will never be as insane as it was in 5.
There are several civs that specifically work around widened housing limits - Australia and Indonesia does for coastal cities and Kongo does for land ones with their early neighbourhoods.
Personally I like the housing system, since it encourages wide play. 4 city meta was the absolute worst thing about 5.
Landon Cook
Those stacks take strats bro

Matthew Walker

Aqueducts were never really a waste of a slot, considering they don't take up a district slot. The only bad thing is that they eat a tile, but they were good enough to get you a +3 on a commercial hub, and Khmer put them to good use.
Khmer still are my favorite to play, but it sucks that they've been outclassed as the POPULATION RUUUUUSH civ by Inca, who are my second favorite now

I love Civ VI and have sunk almost as many hundreds of hours into it as V
My biggest issue with VI is the leaders abilities being too overly complex or narrowly focused on specific aspects which might not even be a factor in the game you play.

>What is a ridiculously OP civ
In Civ V, Inca or Maya.
>and what would make them OP?
You'd have to understand all the mechanics of the game. Someone telling you to just play the OP civs doesn't help you learn that. You should actually play specialist civs to learn how the mechanics work. Babylon to learn how science works. Korea to learn how specialists work. Celts to see how units/buildings can give bonuses. Brazil to see how Tourism works. And so on. Basically, play every Civ.
But the short of it is, the Inca and Maya are the most broken because they can do anything.
The Inca unique ability of avoiding hill tiles alone allows you to get early game production boost/explore faster that push you past everyone else. Adding the ridiculous food bonuses on top of that is beyond broken.
Maya get the most broken building in the game, giving you double science and faith with the very first building you build in each city. This easily lets you surpass opponents in science while also getting religion first. Then free great people on top of that just makes them even more broken.
Both Inca and Maya can go wide or tall, go for any victory, etc. And they're not limited by needing certain types of tiles like swamps or desert. They're basically the most versatile civs.
Gabriel Wright
It's just retards who can't understand the world without sorting everything into extremes and easily understood good/bad teams

I don't know what you're getting at.

Settle 4 cities as soon as possible. You don't need any more. In fact, more is detrimental. Focus on the first 2 social policy trees, and then Rationalism when you can.
Inca are good for getting the lay of the land, since they aren't hindered by hills, but Babylon is far and away the best civ in the game. Their defenses are superb, thanks to the Walls of Babylon, and they get enough science that even a completely new player can compete with the AI.
Ottomans are pretty trash, but they're fun to play on certain maps. They're completely outclassed by England, though, which is a shame.
Adam Barnes
lol loser I never cried or felt uneasy about it, the long lashes just made it ridiculously hard to put a lens in plus I have an astigmatism in each eye so I needed larger lenses to begin with very much so

Should I buy Civ 6 for the Switch bros? It's $40. The only thing holding me back is the fact the expansions aren't out yet. How's the base game?
Kayden James
i plan on picking up Gathering Storm during the Steam sale
Benjamin Johnson
I prefer continents for singleplayer games, but that's just me.
Go into Advanced Setup and turn unit move/attack animations off. It'll make the game about 40% quicker, chopping a standard pace game from 10 hours down to 6.
Camden King
Okay. I've saved a lot of this to a notepad file, will try not to suck.

Base game is good. Rise and Fall was a pretty terrible expansion anyways. If you've never played a civ before, or are a veteran who is looking for something fresh after 3k+ hours, it's a good investment.
It's also pretty easy to get into, but hard to master.

And specifically for Babylon, you want to use your first great scientist to found a campus. The extra science it gives early on is ludicrous. After that, it's a matter of if you have the space for it (IE, useless tiles that wouldn't be better off with a farm or a mine), and if you really want to rush an important tech.
Every civ has their own metagame within the game itself. That's what makes even the bad ones worth trying out.

Most of the female leaders are terrible choices.
Wilhelmina had no power, Dido wasn't real, Kristina never did anything, Jadwiga was a fuckpuppet for the Lithuanian king, Eleanor was only a peon between England and France to control Aquitaine.
Oh and then there's Civ5 where Isabelle of Spain and Theodora of Byzantium somehow got chosen despite being at best equals to their husbands(Ferdinand and Justinian) and both husbands outlived their wives. If they had to be leaders, at least make them dual leaders with their husbands.

Can't be helped. Same thing happens to me with Science/Korea. The Eureka/Civic boost feature is there for Science/Culture-lets, like Germany or the Inca.
Also, I've got the meta game for it down pretty well. I can get a good 75% of Eureka's in one game. Just produce 2 - 3 slingers at the start, then a builder, and then settle a new city on the coast, and you should be well on your way to getting most of the ancient/classic era civics.

They were the pioneers of a "centralized" monarchy (although questionable nowdays), the pioneers of the age of discovery and were the first empire where the sun never sets. The real european power through most of the XVIth century were the iberians

If not being politically partisan helps them obtain power over the rest of Canada, why should they change anything?
Ryder Walker
The problems with 6 is being able to buy units/buildings with gold and faith, the cpu not building enough commercial hubs to sustain a respectable military, and doing dumb shit like rolling up to your city with just a bombard or a horseman.
Hudson King
Theres nothing wrong with nationalism. I don't blame Quebecers for wanting to preserve their national identity.
Eli Nelson
I'm kind of surprised they haven't really nerfed the Ottomans yet considering how stupid OP they are.
Landon Jenkins
Civ 6 is a piece of shit. Amenities and policy cards are stupid features and whoever came up with them should be hanged
David Flores
It's not nationalism, they love Arabs, Viets, and Haitians, it's pure anglophobia/anti-Semitism.
Connor Baker
Ayden Cooper
Imagine having an opinion this bad
Lucas Cook
>she eyes your dick
How did they get away with it?
Gabriel Rivera
>not being politically partisan
>forcing everyone in politics to learn French just to cater to them
>constantly threatening to leave Canada and form their own country until politicians give them special treatment just for French citizens
>shaming everyone with identity politics
>Trudeau
The list goes on. You guys can call it "diversity" all you want. But really its a scam to give a small minority the majority of power. The French special interests groups in Canada are just like the black caucus in the US. Scream victimhood and diversity all day, while raking in millions off of exploiting their own people.
Ayden Fisher
Nothing wrong with anglophobia and anti-semitism.
Also I'd challenge you on their love of Haitians, Viets, and Arabs. Sure Quebec has it's fair share of xenophilic lefties but not nearly as much as Ontario for instance.
Leo Russell
Quebec should have power over all of Canda. Anglophones should not be allowed to vote.
Caleb Hall

>>constantly threatening to leave Canada and form their own country until politicians give them special treatment just for French citizens
Nobody cares about this anymore, the rest of Canada would be happy if they just fuck off.

>it's pure anglophobia/anti-Semitism
The hate (read: envy) against the proud Anglo-Semitic peoples must stop.

BC should join the states
Brody Ortiz
>Theres nothing wrong with nationalism.
No, there isn't.
>don't blame Quebecers for wanting to preserve their national identity.
But they're not. They've thrown it under the bus for "diversity." They literally have segregation laws in Ottawa where you have to know French to run certain businesses (and politics). But then make exceptions for these rules for all groups...except English speakers. Because diversity = everyone but White English people.
Adam Cooper
You're right, it's much better than 5
Matthew Scott
Quebec powers half of Canada, and Atlantic provinces would be completely fucked by being cut off from the rest of the country.
Josiah Harris
That doesn't mean it went away. The rest of the country does consider it a joke. But certain areas in Quebec have doubled down on the narrative.
Joseph Fisher
Look at any Quebecois nationalist parties on the provincial and federal level, about half of its members are minorities.
William Barnes
so left elanor is loli elanor and right is mature elanor?
Aaron Price
6 isn't even good. It's close to unplayable. Shit taste
Luke Cox
Just say you haven't played it next time
Samuel Smith
Rise and Fall was the first step in making the game tolerable desu. Magnus chopping and being able to turn faith into production by buying settlers and workers is so huge I can't imagine playing the game without it.
Daniel Perez
Sure thing fagtron. Next time just say you don't like video games. Revolution is probably your favorite
Ian Baker
>everyone hates the art style of Civ VI when its announced
>I don't really mind it
>game comes out
>millions of people love the game despite the art style
>I can't stand everything besides the art style
UI sucks, movement has been ruined, districts gimp city growth, removed trade/diplomacy features, AI is even dumber than before, unit spam is worse than before, a mess of unfinished ideas, music is good but the age format makes it get old real fast, etc.
Game is worse than Civ V was at launch. And these expansions aren't fixing the problems of the base game. Just adding new broken features on top of it.
Aiden Cook
Didn't koreans bitch because Seondeok
1. Wasn't brown
2. Wasn't a good leader
John Stewart
>Game is worse than Civ V was at launch
There is no way you played Civ V at launch if you think that
Cameron Ortiz
Yeah, damn shame about Magnus being the only viable governor, though, and the only good golden age bonuses prior to the Industrial Era being faith based. Monumentality especially.
The mechanics were alright, but the civs were a travesty. They had almost 0 interesting or unique mechanics. A single Gathering Storm civ has more interesting gameplay elements than all of the Rise & Fall cast.
Tyler Carter
Civ V was so barebones without expansions.
Luis Perez
They are basically same shit as civics back in 4 and in many ways analogous to that philosophy-or-whatever thingie in Civ5.
Jose Parker
Was Civ V literally unplayable at launch? Because VI was. It crashed constantly and still does whenever I try to play it
Oliver Walker
Yes, I did. Civ V was easy and simple, but not bad. Civ VI was Civ V with half the features changed or removed just to make it "different." And changing stuff just for the sake of change doesn't make it better.
The change to movement alone killed Civ VI. Let alone the four dozen other issues I can name.
Hunter Flores
They went on a rampage BECAUSE she was too brown. And also not a good leader. The only reason she got in is because of a historical docu-drama that was airing at around the same time. Same for Hojo Tokimune.
>UI sucks
I think it's good enough. Mods make it perfect.
>Movement has been ruined
Only in the early game. By the time you unlock Chemistry, the movement is the best it's ever been. I do think that the movement gimp sucks, and there was really no reason for it.
> Districts gimp city growth
Districts yeeting the tile bonuses sucks, but otherwise they're fantastic. It makes city planning much more interesting. Having played 3k hours in Civ VI, I can pretty much gauge how many yields I can get off of every district just by looking at a tile.
>Removed trade/diplomacy features
Such as?
>AI is even dumber than before
Blatantly false
Nathan Wright
You can have BC in exchange for taking Nova Scotia off our hands.
John Ramirez
Yes, Civ 5 was a disaster.
I remember going to gamestop to buy a physical copy and when I got home to install it the CD only contained a Steam installer and a key. Already I was disappointed, and then I find out the game a barebones broken mess and I had to wait quite a while for patches before it wasn't dogshit.
Brayden Gonzalez
Amenities are just not explained well, but they're basically city-based happiness. Much better than globohomo happiness like in Civ V.
>Policy cards
What's the problem with them? Too much reading? Granted, there are like 5 must-have cards, and 30 situational cards, with the rest being useless, but still.
Elijah Stewart
>BECAUSE she was too brown. And also not a good leader.
Sorry, that's what I meant.
Logan Lewis
>but not bad
The combat system alone made it shit. It was terrible, don't delude yourself.
>with half the features changed or removed just to make it "different
What did they remove
>The change to movement alone killed Civ VI
Melodramatic much?
Benjamin Price
I can't stack 50 units on top of each other so it sucks.
John Gray
This.
Thomas Watson
The fact that any of them are useless makes it a stupid system. Having to go through turns of anarchy to switch governments is fucking stupid. Amenities are retarded and global happiness was easy as fuck to maintain. All you had to do was obtain luxury resources and get along with city states. Plenty of policies made it easier to boost happiness as well. Amenities just make it a pain in the dick to keep your citizens happy considering you have to waste turns to build districts and add on to them to boost it. It took an already unnecessary feature and made it worse
Josiah Russell
Ah, so you're just a V-baby, got it. Global happiness fucking sucked, and pretty much everyone agreed before V became the go-to nostalgia bait game in the series.
Jordan Morgan
Chess is boring and full of psueds, is Go any better?
Julian Morris
>V has pretty and cool looking leaders
>VI has the overt cartoon caricatures like in some Dreamworks film
Yikes
Nolan Evans
VI's leaders look better and are animated really well. The only thing V has over VI is leader scenes
Colton Turner
I just wish the VI models didn't look so mishapen. I do think they're better animated
David Reyes
>with the rest being useless, but still.
Has anybody ever used the card that gets you gold if put a neighborhood on top of a farm?
Matthew Clark
No, never. I've used just about 90% of the cards, though, with most of the ones I've ignored being military slots.
Joseph Jenkins
Anyone else play VI with the graphics overhaul mod that makes it look more like V? That is when when the update hits of course.

Noah Jackson
>What did they remove
Diplomatic victory, in between units like great war infantry r long swordsman specifically added into later Civ V expansions because people complained of a power gap between swordsman and musketmen, some buildings, trade options, UI options and many other things I'm not even remembering off the top of my head. Some of these might have been added in with later expansions. But the fact is, removing them from the base game of Civ VI when Civ V already had them is stupid. It's downgrading your sequel, which already is using Civ V as a base.
>Melodramatic much?
When a unit goes from being able to cross a river in 1 turn to needing 3 turns because "lol you need that extra 0.5 movement points" is just fucking horrible. It makes exploration take forever. Now, take that same system and try to move a 40 unit army to an enemy city with a river. Or heaven save you, a jungle tile.
Evan Harris
I'm not saying it wasn't a bad feature, VI just made it worse. At least in V you could just rush to get luxury resources and ally with city states and just ignore happiness by mid to late game. VI forces you to babysit it forever
Michael Gutierrez
I prefer the added difficulty and playing around of the movement of VI.
Austin Morgan
Diplo victory is back, and they added a load of inbetween units (Coursers, Pike & Shot, etc). Adding more inbetween units would be stupid, considering it's already hard enough to field new units before they become obsolete.
Aiden Brooks
are you a retard reference?
