(and that's a bad thing)

On Yea Forums for sure

just hope the other companions are better than the ones we've seen, they all seem very shit so far

Companions in every Obsidian game I've played have been absolute shit, but it hasn't stopped the games from being good.

but the companions in New Vegas are great, for the most part

It truly does. Here's coming it's good but there's no way in hell I'm preordering or buying at full price.

Unironically the game I'm most excited for right now.

Only 5 bucks a month for Microsoft's Game Pass, goy :^)

Looks like a they took the code for New Vegas (not 3) and tried to make a game from it.

They've been all confirmed to be humans, which disappoints me a bit. I thought we were gonna get a robot.

>5 bucks a month
This makes me more worried about the quality of the game to be honest.

It's 5 bucks a month for the whole pass, not just one game in it.

Even worse.

Game looks like it incorporates elements from 2 of Yea Forumss most beloved games, Bloodlines and new vegas.
The hate it gets on here is the most obvious proof of nu-Yea Forums in full effect.

I do really hope this game turns out good.

its literally fallout 4 in space

was that actually confirmed? last I remember is an interviewer asking Tim and Leonard and Leonard just said "haha, good one"

Yeah, I read it somewhere in the preview coverage.

I really hope Microsoft will force them to release a semi-polished game for once.

Glad we're back to having daily threads about this game ever since they announced the release date. There was a period there where only shitposters cared about this game.

why graphics and animations so bad?

Cain and Boyarsky have yet to fail me. I'll play it on game pass day 1.

Is this also kickstarted?

why english so bad?
Because they don't have a gigantic bethesda budget brainiac.

Why would you not have a health bar? I just don't understand.

This has "Yea Forums cult classic" written all over it.

It actually doesn't

looks like shit lol. so does that vampire bloodlines game. boomers have poor taste *dab*

They look like shit because they've been updated for stupid zoomers like you.

Here is reply.

Is this an RPG like Fallout: New Vegas or an "RPG" like Bioshock?

Clearly meant to be like New Vegas. Developed by the same studio too. Why do you ask? What's bioshock about it?

Looks like they made a game out of all the stuff they couldn't use in Fallout 3. The crappy nostalgia and the '50s styling are so played the f out. Outer Worlds looks like left over meatloaf from last week.

NO YOU CAN'T LIKE VIDEOGAMES GO BACK TO R*DDIT TRANNYFAGGOT SHIIIILLLLLL

Will there be any nudity?

In old Obsidian games there was a legit route of being an unabashed asshole who does everything "wrong." it was largely comical but it was there and fleshed out. I don't get that vibe from this game.
I seriously feel like the game is going to berate me for wanting to play as a corporate stooge.

If there is no Sneering Imperialist or its functional equivalent in the skill set up, no buy.

They have one even better
Because they DO have a gigantic EPIC budget brainiac

Looks good but why is there no gore?

The epic deal happened very recently. They're not producing the game, just giving them a better deal compared to steam.
Don't be ridiculous.

>Companions in every Obsidian game I've played have been absolute shit
Kotor 2 had best companions.

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STOP GIVING ME GREAT DEALS, REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

You don't need gore when your game is about being a consumerist. The gore only happens when you reject consumerism.
The correct way to play is just do as you are told and stop asking questions. If you don't do that you are the source and catalyst for the violence and gore, making you the de facto badguy.

>They're not producing the game
The game is on the UE engine you dolt, its clear their partnership is greasing palms.

But user! 2 doesn't have my favorite underaged Twi'lek!

Attached: Missionfulltaris-1-.jpg (250x348, 23K)

The game has a lot of moving parts, just like bethesda games, so the graphics and animation will always take a hit.

>The game is on the UE engine you dolt
You must be trolling. You have any idea how many games are made on UE? Also what the fuck is that rant about gore and consumerism? You seem like a nutjob.

Visas Marr is best girl

>I seriously feel like the game is going to berate me for wanting to play as a corporate stooge.
Nah. That wouldn't feel Boyarsky.

I know these guys are in a partnership with EPIC and using their propriety software. EPIC openly talks about how they do all they can to help their bought slaves financially.
You are the nutjob to deny it is happening when EPIC says it is happening.

can see that as a polygon headline

he said gore isn't needed if you are playing within the rules of the society they set up, which is clearly a cautionary tale about consumerism.

Literally over a third of developers are using epic's proprietary* software for their games. It's fucking free after all.
Beyond the timed exclusivity on the epic store there is no other deal. You keep being insane and making shit up all you want but it doesn't change reality.
Obsidian hasn't been bought by anyone and epic literally cannot bankroll all the games they're putting on the epic store, thinking that is the case is just evidence to your inexperience.
Don't talk about things you don't understand.

They were working on this game on the Epic Engine over 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure this Epic Store deal only happened like a few months ago.

nothing in life is free. And a third aren't using it and signing an exclusivity deal with EPIC at the same time.
Sweeny has personally said they financially support their devs, why wouldn't a publisher do that? All of them do. The problem isn't them taking the money, its taking the money from EPIC, knowing what strings are attached. KoF devs revealed HOW EPIC does this by buying pre-order amounts and the like. Stop being a faggot shill.

Go fanboy someplace else. You fags keep fucking up all the doorknobs in this place thinking they are dilation stations. Begone.

see:

So they needlessly took the Epic deal when they didn't need to?
Why support a developer that does that when they don't have to?

So what would make them take the deal 3 years later when they were already doing their own thing?
Their stated reason was for the cash infusion that will let them do post launch stuff. So you are just going to ignore both what EPIC openly says they do financially AND what Obsidian said they did it for?

This is why people don't like EGS. Not because epic is garbage, its because their online shills lie so openly and so brazenly, like chinese bugmen are famous for.
If you fuckers would just stop lying to people left and right people wouldn't be so ardently against your shit store. They would still dislike it, but they probably wouldn't out and out hate it the way they do now.

With every lie you compound the situation. It is already untenable.

They got the Epic deal money like 3 months ago. They have to launch the game at the end of this year like they promised Take-Two with the fiscal report. There's no time for them to use the new money on their game's budget.

I'm not defending Obsidian taking Epic's money. I personally don't care, but I get that it's being a huge backlash against them that might cost them. I'm just explaining why you made no sense when you said "This game can't look this shit because they're budgeted by Epic"

whoa whoa whoa there hotshot, you said it wasn't a deal for money.
>they got the Epic deal money
we are done here, see yourself out, mind the doorknobs.

>I personally don't care
>makes a dozen posts showing they clearly care
Its the open and brazen lying that is making people hate you and your handlers. Its time to stop.

see >beyond the timed exclusivity on epic store there is no other deal.
>Obsidian hasn't been bought by anyone and epic literally cannot bankroll all the games they're putting on the epic store.
They are literally the publisher of those games and they do bankroll them under the capacity of a publisher to a developer.
Are you being intentionally obtuse?

I'm telling you fuckers the lying is why people hate you and EGS. And you wont stop. If you aren't that user I don't care, you inserted yourself into a conversation and took up the same mantle.

Golem, get ye gone.

>Bao-Dur

Mobile storage at best in Bethesda games.
I always play sneakily and use stealth if I can but companions (if you don't make them stay somewhere) just charge in like fucking drax from guardians.

Attached: 07fac81451426be1c229229848fa2677.gif (268x148, 675K)

Well, that explains that. Anyways, as I was saying, and I'll repeat again: They got the Epic deal money like 3 months ago. They have to launch the game at the end of this year like they promised Take-Two with the fiscal report. There's no time for them to use the new money on their game's budget.

chinks live in an Orwellian dystopia, they have no concept of actual truth, they completely accept what they're told to be true.

By the way, to all the shitposters bitching about chinks, this shit is gonna be available on the Microsoft Store AND the PC Game Pass deal on day 1. It's not truly exclusive to the Epic launcher.

The original claim was they didn't accept any money at all, until I started showing you enough evidence for you to pivot. And you thought no one would notice, somehow.
I also said they openly stated the money was for post launch content, which it is.

You are literally incapable of not lying, and it is harming your master's market share each and every time.
And let me reiterate if you want to keep running in circles like a gook:
>if you aren't that user I don't care, you inserted yourself into a conversation and took up the same mantle.

Everyone knows now from KoF devs that the "epic exclusivity" is actually "anything but Steam." that actually adds to the compounding problems. Its openly underhanded.
>defending bugmen economic practice in any way shape or form
wew fucking lads.

>save image as a .jpg so we can still see the image compression
>can still see a few pixels of where she erased the second (you), not realizing the artifacts are red colored there
embarrassing

Sloppy job chang.

Is there anything specific your looking forward too in this game Yea Forums?

Killing anyone that dares to start conflict in the economic quarter (reality) with extreme prejudice and being rewarded handsomely for it.
I hope there is a bounty system.

I am going to make a thief style build and look in people's inventory. If they have no money on them I kill them. If they have no money but are out and about in my capitalist utopia they are fermenting some sort of dissent. Better to kill them before they act on their terrorist ideals.

I haven't decided yet. I kinda want to side with the corporations, but I'll talk to them first before committing that way.

I'm going non lethal and will take over every megacorp and run them ruthlessly. hopefully you can turn your companions into enforcers and have the populace police itself.
I expect numbers mind you. The tree of capitalism gotta be littered with the blood of consumption.

kek that shill disappeared instantly when he was defeated by weaponized autism

>and they do bankroll them under the capacity of a publisher to a developer.
TOW is published by private division and a publisher is not a producer anyways so you're still a complete fucking moron.
No one is lying to you, you're just too dumb to accept the truth and prefer to make shit up.

>weaponized autism
weaponized retardation* ftfy

>Tim Sweeney personally said EGS buys all pre-orders already in place as compensation for taking the deal after you already announced your game and platforms.
1. This is financially based and is financial support
2. It shows Epic has low confidence in this maneuver otherwise. Its like a gag order embargo on youtube reviews. You know it signifies low confidence in the product.

>Only comes slinking back to deny victory was achieved.
Absolutely barbaric behavior. Just accept it. Not only are people going to avoid this game because of the EPIC strings attached, people are going to actively avoid it all the more because you faggots keep digging your graves deeper by having no shame.

Whether you like it or not Epic is a publisher of the fucking game, they are publishing it.

Private Division is a subsidiary of Take-Two, who openly state they have a publishing agreement with Epic to publish their content on the Epic store.
Look up the definition of publishing, not what games media says a publisher is.
You are just being a disingenuous loser now.

>In March 2019, it was announced that the game would release exclusively on the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store, with its original Steam release being delayed for at least one year.[13][14] Fan response to the announcement was negative.[15]
>Fan response to the announcement was negative.[15]

>RPG Site: So what's it like to have your game lead off the Microsoft E3 Press Conference this year, is that something you ever thought would happen?

>Leonard Boyarsky: Nope, it was quite a very nice surprise.

>RPG Site: What's it like to be able to leverage that kind of opportunity?

>Leonard Boyarsky: With the exception of my time at Blizzard, everything I've gotten to work on has been relatively obscure things without a high profile -- back when I worked on the original Fallout even, no one knew what it was or cared.

>RPG Site: So what is your specific role or title for this game? You and Tim Cain are often paired up, both acting as co-Directors, but what's been your focus specifically when it comes to The Outer Worlds?

>Leonard Boyarsky: Well we both make sure to have a hand in the world building -- we create the world together, but I'm in charge of the writing, story, and art, while Tim focuses on more systems design and gameplay. But yes, we both do act as co-Directors.

>RPG Site: People are often very quick to make comparisons to game's like Bioshock and especially Fallout: New Vegas, what do you feel when you see those comparisons made? Do you ever worry people are going to expect the game to be something different than what it is?

>Leonard Boyarsky: Well, I think it's unavoidable that those comparisons are made, especially regarding Fallout. and I thought Bioshock did a fantastic job of world-building as well; the games we've been compared to are generally considered top tier, fantastic games so when the comparisons are made favorably, that really excites us. It's really funny, because we when made [the original] Fallout, it was something no one had really seen before. It was kinda steam-punk as it was at that time -- we didn't have all these other punks like diesel-punk, cyber-punk, so now there's this wider genre already out there. So we still wanted to make The Outer Worlds something people haven't really seen before.

Attached: LeonardHeadshot.png (700x1036, 1.34M)

Look at yourself man. You keep saying all this stupid shit but there is absolutely no denying the facts that I just laid out. Admit you were wrong and that I haven't been lying to you or out yourself as a steam cultist.
For fuck's sake I don't plan on getting this game until it's on there in about a year myself but I cannot condone this fucking lunacy by any means.
Epic is literally not the publisher, this is a google search away, it is undeniable. The shit you're spouting is the equivalent of saying that Valve published all source games that are sold on steam.
You are insane, stop replying, do your research and then kill yourself. Good evening.

Look up the definition of publishing, not what games media says a publisher is.
You are just being a disingenuous loser now.
I could say the exact same to you, and I will.

>RPG Site: So what sets The Outer Worlds apart?

>Leonard Boyarsky: I think it's the tone and feel of the world, and the fact that it really reacts to your choices. There are a lot of games that do that now, at least more than there used to be, but I feel that we take it further than other games. That was one of the reasons that we didn't want a voiced protagonist. Because you know, once you do that you set the personality of the player at least partially in stone.

>RPG Site: Speaking about Fallout, there's a sort of relevant tangent there as voice acting was added and it's not always seen as the best change the series has undertaken.

>Leonard Boyarsky: Yea, I can't speak as to why Fallout went that direction, but for us it wasn't even a discussion to voice the player-character. It was always assumed from minute one that we would not. There's two aspects to it -- no matter what voice you 'pick', someone is going to feel that who they hear isn't who their character is. On the other side of that, if you're recording player voices you have to restrict what you write. If you come up with five more ideas or choices, but there's no opportunity to record new lines, then you can't really go further with ideas and you can't easily go back to add choices that weren't there before. So it gives us a lot more freedom, and it allows the player to completely imagine who they are in our world without anything in their way.

>RPG Site: So about the characters that are voiced, the companions -- last year I got to talk about them a little bit with the game's first showing, but a couple of things were kept under wraps. We only knew of Felix and Ellie and since then Parvati. Is Nyoka (a companion showcased during the E3 demo) new?

Attached: The-Outer-Worlds_120618_12.jpg (1920x1080, 2.89M)

Cybercuck and Bethesda utterly annihilated

lol the changelog for that page in March is a clusterfuck of shillery.
The majority of the changelogs for March show it was a battle between shills and non-shills trying to hide or reveal the EPIC involvement
The page shows the epic involvement so the shills lost on that front but it does show they tried to either edit the page to omit the EPIC controversy or downplay the negative impact from the general populace.

A publisher pays for distribution, not development. The Epic game store is a distribution platform. Epic payed money for the product to be placed on that distribution platform.
Its simple 1+1 maths my retarded friend.

>Leonard Boyarsky: We didn't make a big deal about the reveal, but she was in our PAX demo a couple of months ago. So those are the four companions that we've talked about, and we aren't sharing yet the ultimate number or who the others might be. As always, we want the companions to be very integral to the game world. For instance, Nyoka is from Monarch, so when the player is running around this area, other characters will recognize her and have that history with her. She'll probably help call out a few people that are actually full of shit and trying to mislead you.

>RPG Site: Seems like something she'd say.

>Leonard Boyarsky: Exactly, and not only that but we tried to emphasize the Leadership characteristics in our demo, where companions are buffed to be even more important, and they'll even give part of their skills back to the player, so we don't just have companions as sounding boards, they'll have that gameplay role as well.

>RPG Site: In some games with a system of companions, sometimes there are cases where two companions will never see eye-to-eye and you have to pick and choose. Is that the case in The Outer Worlds?

>Leonard Boyarsky: No, in our mind, we wanted to make a rich group of characters that will effectively become your crew. Now, these characters all have deep ties to different parts of the world, but we didn't want to lock off characters behind allying with different factions or something like that. We didn't want to tell players "Oh, if you side with the Board, this is what companion we allow to side with you". We really wanted to allow players to build their crew as a group of smugglers or however they wanted to play it, and having this choice was always a conscious goal of ours.

>RPG Site: Can you explicitly turn down a character from joining you, or lock yourself out of recruiting one?

Attached: ss_7993b0815010d22bb8affd39cfbeb97c78e35b50.1920x1080.jpg (1920x1080, 1.37M)

>A publisher pays for distribution, not development.
Which is exactly what I've been saying since my first reply to the idiot who claimed that the game had epic backing the development budget as if they were the fucking producer.
Don't call me retarded when you can't follow a reply chain you dumb fuck.

>Leonard Boyarsky: You can't lock yourself out of a companion, don't worry. You can send them away, however, and there are a few places where you'll specifically get chances to do that if you wish. It's all story-based though, there isn't a system like morale or influence, nothing like that. So having companions join up will never be a surprise, but there will be cases where they might want to leave if you keep going against them, but even then if you have a high Leadership you might be able to convince them to stay anyways.

>RPG Site: Last year, I asked Megan if it was possible to kill any character in the game, and the answer was yes. I just want to make sure: is that true and still the case?

>Leonard Boyarsky: [After a pause] There is one character that you can't kill until the end of the game. But every character in The Outer Worlds can be killed.

>RPG Site: It's a pretty stark design decision to declare that you're going to allow that sort of freedom.

>Leonard Boyarsky: It's always a goal of ours, I think - I can't remember if this is true - but even in the very first Fallout, that was a goal on our part, with the exception of one person that couldn't die because they were a ghost, so that's not cheating. Somewhat of another exception here are companion characters.

>RPG Site: Oh?

>Leonard Boyarsky: What I mean is, you can kill them before they become allied with you, but once they are, you don't have friendly fire options to be able to past that point. You can send them away and they'll disappear from the game, but as companion characters, they do work slightly differently. So I guess that's technically a caveat. Tim just did a playthrough where he killed almost everyone he came across, so he finished the game fairly quickly because he couldn't do most of the side quests. But he was able to complete the main story no problem.

Attached: ss_1cc823f04b42e13a8cf479f4bf74e849cc289967.1920x1080.jpg (1920x1080, 1.97M)

publisher
noun
a person or company that prepares and issues books, journals, music, or other works for sale.

Literally nothing about development. A publisher is the sales arm of business. Always has been and always will be. Epic, in no uncertain terms, is the company that is preparing the work for sale under the Epic Games Store. By default Epic would do this, there is nothing nefarious about this.
It just means that EPIC is the publisher, under market definitions.

Go on and make a strawman about how EPIC and EGS are legally separate entities (they aren't) and you were talking about one when I was talking about the other.

Isn't there a difficulty where if your companions die, they're perma-dead?

So your argument is that EPIC is the publisher of The Outer Worlds then?
Oh, okay we all agree then.

>RPG Site: It must be difficult to plan for that, to be able to allow the player to keep progressing despite playing like a lunatic murderer, I wouldn't want to play that way, but if you have even one person who does..

>Leonard Boyarsky: It again wraps back to that degree of freedom that we want players to have, and to say some players not able to roleplay that way because they are in a safe place or because certain characters are invulnerable just takes away the immersion and makes it feel less genuine.

>RPG Site: The ship that is showcased in a couple of the trailers, you've mentioned in the past it acts as a hub of sorts and it's where companions will hang out. I know this game isn't a space-sim, but I'm wondering if you'll be able to customize it or fly it?

>Leonard Boyarsky: We did, early on, talk about being able to modify the ship, and as you complete quests and go throughout the game, it will change in some small ways, but it's not like you'll be able to change out the engines or upgrade parts of it or things like that. It was considered, but as a new IP with a smaller budget, we wanted to focus on character choices and things like that.

>RPG Site: Another cool part of the game are the Science Weapons you've shown off, both the shrink ray and the face rearranging weapon, are there any others you're showing off at the moment?

>Leonard Boyarsky: No, those are the only two we've shown off. We have kind of an internal logic behind the weapons, our world is very pulpy and Sci-Fi and we think those two are really emblematic of the tone which is why they've been kind of at the front.

>RPG Site: In the demo we saw today, you showed off the disguise system in your game, I was wondering if there was also any system like Fallout: New Vegas, where certain gear could act as a disguise for entering places owned by different factions?

Attached: The-Outer-Worlds_120618_06.jpg (1920x1080, 2.93M)

No that's still private division. Regardless the game does not have a high budget due to epic games's exclusivity deal. Stop replying to me this was over like 2 hours ago, only thing keeping this thread alive is the combined autism of you two I think.

>Leonard Boyarsky: The way the Holographic Shroud works is that once you get an ID cartridge for a certain faction, you can plug it into this device in order to mask your identity temporarily by creating this sort of 3D hologram around you. It works as a sort of timed meter which will slowly drain, but the disguise is lost faster if you run, or shoot at people, things like that. It plays also into the dialogue system as well, you'll have checks you'll need to pass one someone spots you once the meter is out, and I think on the final check you have to actually have two different buffed up dialogue skills in order to maintain the disguise.

>RPG Site: So is having that item or ability available to everyone? Or is it like a quest reward or how does that work?

>Leonard Boyarsky: Every player will always have it, but the challenge is being able to find the ID cartridges that will work for it, and then of course players with specific builds will be able to make better use of it once they have it. If you enter an area without it, you'll get a notification showing that it's restricted.

>RPG Site: And then the player will have to think about where or what quest line might lead to getting an ID card for that area.

>Leonard Boyarsky: Exactly.

>RPG Site: You've mentioned previously that the level cap is 30. How high is that relative to the scope of the game? If I was being thorough and completing all the quests I see, how quickly would I hit it?

>Leonard Boyarsky: We're balancing it right now, actually. We've had problems before where you'd reach max level too soon, so we're expanding that. We really don't want players to hit level 30 too far before the end, because then you've hit the ceiling, so to speak. So if you're just powering through, we have to figure out where players should be ability wise, and also the same for players that do every little quest.

Attached: ss_4fe162d9752bc89c2de14ba549ffb6a6260b09aa.1920x1080.jpg (1920x1080, 1.34M)

I think the thing keeping it going is the shill openly greentexting marketing interviews.

The ones no one's reading or replying to? Unlikely.

>Fan response to the announcement was negative.[15]

>RPG Site: How does level scaling work? Are a certain group of enemies in a location always going to be, say, level 12, and another region always something different?

>Leonard Boyarsky: We're changing stuff like this every day, so this might still be tweaked, but what we have right now is limited level scaling. So if you go to a place early on that you're allowed to be, enemies might scale a little bit lower compared to if you return to that area later. Everything is sort of bracketed. Half the fun of an RPG is being able to overcome something that kicked your ass earlier and then coming back and effortlessly laying them out, and we wanted to preserve a part of that. But because this is a game that is story driven, there are a few places that will be locked off for story reasons that should feel valid and shouldn't come across as arbitrary at all -- we want to make sure things never feel too easy or have players feel unfairly penalized for exploring out from the story path.

>RPG Site: Does The Outer Worlds have any sort of optional area whose difficulty supersedes the main questline? One cool part I look forward to in RPGs is the big optional area, the tough superdungeon, or something like that. Anything like that here, like maybe a big secret forest on Monarch?

>Leonard Boyarsky: Well, if you stay on the main story path, things are going to stay a little bit easier relative to some other stuff near the end of the game, where if you go away from that road you're taking more chances. In the demo you saw the Mantiqueen, which is definitely a tough (optional) challenge. There's also something called 'mega', where monsters can be buffed even stronger.

>RPG Site: If I were able to take on the Mega Mantiqueen and defeat it, how does loot work? Am I hoping for some percentage drop of gear from it, or maybe some rare material?

Attached: The-Outer-Worlds_120618_14.jpg (1920x1080, 2.88M)

God forbid this thread have anything worth reading as opposed to some retarded argument about publishing rights.

oof

YIKES

Attached: OuterWorlds.jpg (900x900, 1.13M)

I know this is like the 100th time this image gets posted, but:
>NOT Open-World
>NO lockpicking or hacking minigames
>NO romanceable NPCs
These are all unironically good things

>Leonard Boyarsky: Again, these things are constantly changing at the moment, but there's a certain amount of randomness, but we also have specific loot tables. You're never gonna loot a Mantiqueen and find...well, actually I think they can eat people and they can drop armor - I think. So it is random, but we try not to have it where a monster will drop a gun when it doesn't make sense.

>RPG Site: Outer Worlds was announced for Game Pass for both Xbox and PC, if I wasn't subscribed to Game Pass, but did want to buy it this year on PC on Microsoft's store, I can do that this year?

>Leonard Boyarsky: Yes.

>RPG Site: We just learned that Witcher 3 is coming to Nintendo Switch. Is there any chance for The Outer Worlds? I know it seems like a crazy question, but so did the idea of Witcher 3.

>(Director of Communications Mikey Dowling steps in to answer)

>Mikey Dowling: We'll have to see, right now we're just focused on our current announced platforms of PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.

>RPG Site: Let's say that The Outer Worlds is a hit..

>Leonard Boyarsky: Let's say that! Let's say that a lot.

>RPG Site: (laughs) But if it's a hit, and the opportunity to follow up with a sequel or DLC or something is announced. Whose decision would that be? Obsidian's, Microsoft's, or Private Division?

>Mikey Dowling: It would be Microsoft, if a sequel would happen.

>RPG Site: Thank you for your time!

Yeah the autist will never fuck off no matter what. Too much work into the collage I suppose.

This is unironically a bad thing and will ruin the game.

Even ignoring the Epic Launcher, there's the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass

Fuck off obshitian. Go shill your game on resetgender where you belong.

*BUUUUUUURP*

it gets boring FAST

Yeah, in Supernova, your companions perma-die. You still can't shoot them if they're in your team, though, I don't think. So no friendly fire, you gotta go get them killed by someone else.

Holy shit, they're literally trying to viral the game here, what the fuck ahahhahaha

I wish they let you friendly fire. It's such a huge immersion break when I can just explode shit around my partners.

Good interview. My main concerns with this game right now are:
-No gore
-Some sort of item level scaling

Obsidian makes fun games but there is zero (0) percent chance I am buying this game on the epic store.
I'm not 12 anymore so a communist game about dismantling businesses thru anarchy just isn't appealing to me. It seems infantile.

>70 of those posts are just straight up bait shitposts
Yeah the shills are to blame. Definitely not the eternally assblasted anti-shill crusaders and their epic rick and morty garbage.

OH NO NO NO NO

Attached: 1546486995172.png (690x593, 818K)

Can you dual-wield weapons?

trying is the operative word here, and they are. And failing in spectacular fashion. To other would be shills, take note. This is how you destroy your contractors business in real time.

there isn't a single shitpost in this entire thread, except that image with the rick and morty stuff, which is funny because it is also true.
What you are seeing is people being openly hostile to you because they don't like you or who you are fruitlessly defending.. for reasons.

This game comes out in a few months doesn't it? And there is no love for it on a video game enthusiast webzone. None. There is open hostility for it. You piece together why that is.

I know I'm 3 hours late to the party, but do we know if gamepass lets you keep your save file if I get it on the pass and then buy it on steam later? Or does mircosoft encrypt the shit out of their games on their store still

I'm just confused as to why they said all that stuff about a game no one will be able to buy. Its puzzling to say the least.

>And there is no love for it on a video game enthusiast webzone. None.
That's easy to claim when you say everyone who is interested is a shill.

Attached: 1471957733648s.jpg (250x241, 7K)

Holy shit the Steamcels in this thread are having an autistic meltdown. Imagine being this butthurt over a game not coming to Steam. Just because people don't buy into your paranoid "REEEEE CHINESE SCHEME" conspiracy theory doesn't make them shills. It just makes them ordinary sane people who aren't Steam fanboys and buy from multiple stores. I have Steam, Epic, and GOG on my PC and I buy from all of them. It's called "competition". Imagine that. Have sex, Steamcels.

It's the 4th most wishlisted game on Steam, my dude. I imagine most people are gonna buy it when it comes out in 2020 or whatever.
There's also the Game Pass deal. I heard that's pretty popular.

the (((people))) claiming to be interested are either just spamming greentext with none of their own thoughts or opinions about the game, or defending EPIC from a conceptual standpoint.
There isn't a single post actually talking about anything they are interested in. Those interested people don't exist.

>4th most wishlisted game on a platform it isn't coming out on.
Very few people are going to buy it in 2020, we live in the digital age. Everyone will know every tidbit of information, lore, actual gameplay, all of it, months in advance of their purchase. The vast majority will see it the same way a 3 hour game gets played on youtube ends up - they've already "seen" it.

Imagine thinking anyone other than paranoid racist /pol/ posters gives a fuck if they have to buy it from Epic

>hurr durr commies
/vpol/ brainlets everybody
There’s probably going to be some angle in the game where the corporations are justified and you can side with them. You’ll probably be able to talk your way there given the two developers history

Attached: D8552860-6B09-41FC-ACB6-28CF2497B42B.png (216x169, 15K)

Eh, there's plenty of Steam cucks that refuse to buy games on other platforms. I suspect that guy is right to the extent that there will be a ton of people that will only buy it when it comes out on Steam.

that's like 4 posts per person you dumb fucking idiot. How is that shilling

The game is openly about dismantling a highly functioning capitalst society just because you don't like the way it functions for you.
Quintessentially communist my man.
Old Obsidian might have had an angle for the corps to be right, I highly doubt that given their current output. Yeah they used to give a backhanded comment went you chose the "wrong" choices but they won't even do that now. They will either openly block you or just out and out shit on you for it and then ask if you learned a lesson.

it is clearly 1 anti-shill and 1 pro-shill going ham on each other.

stop sucking chinaman dick for one.

Either way it'll sell plenty and all the "REEE MUH BUGMEN!!1!!1" posters will be BTFO once again

brain problems

except they aren't using that engine. Is this a copypasta or something

This is Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky. The dudes that made Fallout 1. The dudes that made Fallout 2. The dudes that made Arcanum. The dudes that made Bloodlines. And fuck, even if those two weren't there, you were able to ally yourself with any evil faction from the Pillars of Eternity games. In fact, there were always exclusive rewards for doing so. Lastly, it's already been confirmed you can side with the corporations. The very first thing you can do in the game is sell the scientist that saves you to the corporations that want him alive or dead. Your fears are unfounded, to say the least.

show me a game that works decently, feels good to play and was made in the creation engine/gamebryo

It's literally not though. It's using Unreal 4

I know it looks suspiciously like GameBryo and I don't blame you, for being mistaken but it's honest to god made in Unreal Engine 4.

>which is funny because it is also true.
Commit sudoku rick and morty faggot. Just because you're autistic enough to fanatically spam every thread you see about it that doesn't mean shit. You gonna pretend that you're not doing it? Not gonna fly, you post the exact same shit every time. It is your garbage that's obvious and predictable I'd say.

It looks like shit youtu.be/6ixpOzeeTZs

They will sell plenty because Tim Sweeney will personally buy as many copies as he needs to make it sell plenty. He has already stated that that is company policy.

I'm not that guy, I'm the one actually typing measured responses. The rick and morty thing was easily seen in seconds by the internet in totality. Everyone noticed it. Be as buttmad your favorite devs did something so easily recognizable to try and get good boy points.

The entire internet saw that character as a proxy of Rick, not just some idiot on the chan.

>The game is openly about dismantling a highly functioning capitalst society just because you don't like the way it functions for you
That’s a pretty big assumption you got there. How the fuck do you know it doesn’t work for you if you’re a blank slate. If anything the trailer indicates it doesn’t work for the world around you, which isn’t a “communist” outlook on things. You’re making nothing but un backed assumptions on how things are going to play out, typical Yea Forums

Yeah you keep posing as some majority as if that's an argument but "the whole intenet that immediately saw rick and morty" are literally retarded rick and morty fans like yourself.
I mean who the fuck else would think that the ancient goofy scientist with disheveled hair trope was started by rick and morty? You tell me.

The game isn't about dismantling it at all. There's no way you're gonna be able to wreck the entire corporation, even if you wanted. And as said before, you have choices. You can side with the corporation.

WUBBALUBBADUBDUB! I'm so *fricking* excited, guys, I can hardly wait!!! Fuck the corporations!!

Literally the dudes that created Fallout lol

which was a Roadwarrior homage (ripoff) about water. Literally not an original creative bone in their spineless bodies.

I never claimed to be a majority, you are just an idiot to deny common knowledge. Thousands of people were watching that reveal in realtime and the rick and morty memes sprang up IN THE CHAT in real time as the reveal happened.
By the thousands.

Fair enough, my dude. I happen to love their lack of creativity.

They're not the original dev team. There's like two guys from that team working on it, the rest of the team are all blue-haired feminists and bearded soiboys who love Rick and Morty and all that other pop-culture shit.

Show me the kinds of artsy drivel vidya gaymes you like user < 3

So what? Are you really not going to like something because someone who worked on it disagrees with you? That’s awfully tumblr-like

>IN THE CHAT
Like I said. Retarded twitch/reddit kiddies with extremely limited exposure to media. Like you and nu-Yea Forums in general.
It's not your fault you're underage but please don't wear it as a badge of honor for fuck's sake.

The game doesn't need mods. It has deep RPG elements and choices already built into the game. You can get NPCs to give you their gun and use it for good.... or to use to shoot them in the face with.

No other RPG has been this deep.

that is your prerogative. From what I've seen people used to be fine with it but this new game seems to be banking on it too hard with the imagery and it looks played out. The chic-y bioshock/fallout faux era stuff is tiresome at this point. That seems to be the biggest comment about the style of the game right now. There are those that like it mind you, I'm just saying I see alot of people bringing the look up as a "concern."

I can look past that. I just don't know if the writing will be there. That is what I like about Obsidian games. Hate on me all you want, I love the BEAR and BULL stuff even if it was some faggot crying about me not playing rpgs the way he likes (which doesn't bode well for this game if I'm honest).

The people in the reveal chat are arguably the most die hard fans you will find, and they were laughing at the game derisively. Whether you like it or not those are your diehard fans, and they thought the game was enough to laugh at (not with).

>Literally the dudes that created Fallout lol
Chris Avallone left. Obsidian hasn't made a single good game since.

>There's like two guys from that team working on it
There's two lead developers, which were also the two lead developers of Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Arcanum and Bloodlines. All great games. There's also a few more people from the original Interplay team. Not to mention people from the Troika team. There's also a hundred more people because games are made by bigger teams now, and yes, among them there are hair-dyed feminists, but that's beside the point. If you dismiss games because feminists worked on them, you'd be dismissing way too many good games.

Chris Avellone wasn't even involved in Fallout 1, you clown. Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky, the lead developers of this game, were the lead developers of the first Fallout.
And Deadfire was good.

Avellone ruined Fallout 2 with his meme shit and NV with his Bethesda tier DLC and OC. Dude is poison for good Fallout.

Blatant Obsidiot shills are viraling their game in this thread, look at the post count. It's one marketing team having conversations with themselves and they're too fucking lazy to change their IPs. Absolutely embarrassing.

>The people in the reveal chat are arguably the most die hard fans you will find, and they were laughing at the game derisively. Whether you like it or not those are your diehard fans, and they thought the game was enough to laugh at (not with).
I'm sure you are dude, count me convinced if that'll help you sleep at night. End of conversation.

lmao, no it wasn't.
Obsidian hasn't made a single good game since he left.

Holy shit Obsididrones are in denial hard over this. The gameplay video they've shown is horrible.

Why is pickle rick poster so obsessed with obsidian?

Times change. the cultural zeitgeist is not aligned with their humor or worldviews right now. Those games worked because they worked for their time. I notice you stopped mentioning games that are modern. Because the modern games didn't sell well or age well, because they were bad games for the times.

This game is banking on rick and morty humor after the general populace got turned off the humor when they found the frontman was a pedophile. It visually is aping a style from bioshock/fallout when those franchises overdid it and handedly ruined the aesthetic.
They are multiple years late on fads that already burned themselves out.

I'm sick to death of Fallout but I am actually pretty interested in this Space Era pastiche with the corporation dressing. I agree that the visual style hasn't held up for the most part, though. I really enjoy the indoor areas and the outdoor areas look good at night, but at day they look pretty dull. They added a lot more colors, to their credit, so it's not just another brown wasteland, and there is a way nicer skybox, but I dunno, I'm not fully feeling the artstyle.

I trust that the writing and world-building will be top notch, though. Cain and Boyarsky together have yet to disappoint me in that department.

>179 posts
>39 IPs
Lmao i'm out of here, this thread is nothing but samefag shills.

>Obsidian hasn't made a single good game since he left.
So one?

>strawmanning before disgracefully bowing out of contention.
I accept your complete surrender. A lesser man wouldn't have your dignity. I applaud you.

>he says as he leaves his 50th post about shills
Bye.

Bye picklecuck poster

i know nothing about goypass but i can't imagine microshit letting you have access to save files on that platform. if you buy it outright on their store, sure, but on its cheapass streaming service, i highly doubt due to save editing on pc being so common, it's probably on their cloud.

>Times change. the cultural zeitgeist is not aligned with their humor or worldviews right now.
I agree with that. That's why this game is still relatively niche despite the big names and studio.

>I notice you stopped mentioning games that are modern.
Cain and Boyarsky did not work together on a game since Troika fell because Arcanum and Bloodlines, despite being excellent games, sold like shit (and to be fair Bloodlines was buggy as fuck), so that's why this return from them is pretty exciting to me. It's been a decade since they joined up forces.

>This game is banking on rick and morty humor
Nah, this is pretty clearly Fallout/Arcanum style humor which I'm pretty sure predates Rick & Morty, since I've never heard of that show until a few years ago.

Everytime someone says it shills you get 2 responses less than a minute apart making passive aggressive remarks but not denying it.
They are coordinating their talking points on discord, like trannies are want to do.

And it was a damn good game. Deadfire haters sicken me. I spent a lot of hours on that game and Kingmaker last year.

New Vegas had dogshit companions that are basically just pack mules outside when you first meet them and their one personal quest.

They're lazy as fuck and might as well not exist.

viral marketing, none of these threads ever have many IPs or pics. too much work, and this shitty game took a massive hit to its rep after going greedy and ep*c exclusive, so now it's full of microshit shilling, as if that makes it any better.

You think defending your honor as a twitch chat participant who is obsessed with rick and morty can be called "contention"?
Okay just had to point that out and now I'm actually gonna stop replying to you so claim your overwhelming victory in this "debate" in your next reply esteemed retard.

Imagine if this board had flags, 95% of the posters ITT would be from India. Instead of getting a reputable job like cleaning up the feces from your streets, you are literally being paid to spam forums with this shitty game. Fuck off, Raj.

Its niche because one of the names attached is now EPIC. it was not a niche game before that. Popular opinion shifted toward the negative HARD when that announcement happened.

Hello I am not a shill. You are a nigger. Eat shit. Stop trying to derail threads about games I am interested in.
Also kill yourself.

It’s just one dude who constantly derails the fuck out of any Obsidian thread that isn’t NV because everyone likes that one.

It was the last one without trannies and otherkin, no wonder people remember it fondly and dislike the new shit.

Yeah that was fucked up. The original one was good, but what the fuck were Sawyer and the others thinking?

that exact scar is in fallout 4, and the shoulders on his armour look exactly like the heavy combat armour from fallout 4 too

>I want Yea Forums to be even more like /pol/
Oh, we know.

Reminder to not waste money on this trash game. It's coming to the Windows Store as well as Epic so you can pick it up for $5/mn, doubt it'll take longer than a week to beat since it's an obsidian game.

>flags
What we need is IDs so that worms like yourself that endlessly samefag threads about games they dislike can be singled out and shat on by people who are actually interested in videogames.

True, and Obsidian was very silent about the game when it happened, presumably to avoid more fury. Probably the right call.

they specifically won't do this for Yea Forums because it would reveal the entire board is shillcentral. I'm convinced Yea Forums is just 3 guys from /vr/ that crosspost and tons and tons of shills and bots.

didn't they address it by saying "epic is the best consumer choice and experience" as their excuse? Or was that some other idiot that probably didn't even believe the words coming out of their own mouth?

Not him, but I disagree. IDs aid the shitposters more than they harm. That dude can just keep resetting his router between every post. It's trivial.

>That dude can just keep resetting his router between every post
Good. Might as well make the fags work for their replies. They're obvious as fuck either way.

Avellone was right about Feargus being a greedy dude. Remember when Randy shilled epic?

MORTY

I remember Randy not giving a fuck about how you feel about it, which was expected honestly. I'm slowly approaching Civvie11 tier when it comes to Randy.

I'll probably pick it up on Gamepass

Deadfire was a good game, faggots.

I disagree. The writing looks cringe worthy too so even if the gameplay was great you'd still have to deal with that.

which genders did you choose?

I TURNED MYSELF IN TO A SHITTY GAME, MORTY!

I'M OUTER WORLDS RIIIIIIICK!!!

In the demo, the disguise system prompted dialogue even when the bar was not empty, I thought.

Looks fine to me

Chris Avellone is a great writer, but he throws a lot of stinkers and he sucks at Fallout

>Boone
>Rex
these two are OP as fuck

He is a good writer but he is too passive aggressive about player choice or agency and his writing just comes off as vindictive and petty in Fallout.
I liked it once, when it was the tail end of the story and I could tell Ulysses he's a cuck idiot and is wrong, but I really don't want to go thru an entire game where that mentality is there from minute 1.

>Yea Forums is unironically whining about the corperation antagonists while at the same time complains about imaginary shills

OP as fuck but not interesting after you do his quest to recruit him. I liked that his bloodlust could actively fuck you, but not enough.
Raul is the real deal.

Really gets your noggin joggin

Is Windows 10 still awful?

About what? Works fine on my machine :^)

I feel like he's inconsistent. The last 10 games he's written have been underwhelming at best.

Rex's quest was pretty interesting since you got to choose which brain you want.

I guess. In my playthru he wouldn't leave the facility you find him in. He would just sit in that first room.
I really enjoyed the facility and seeing all the stuff they did to those doggos, it was interesting.
Alot of the companions had some half baked shit going on though.
>Veronica talks about just wanting a nice dress to be a nice pretty girl
>give Veronica the one actual dress in the game
>she doesn't wear it or even mention it

Tying talking to stealth is a good system that needs to be implemented more often. Stealth is too often exclusively about not being seen.

wut? that sounds pants on head retarded. How can your stealth ever being applied to talking? you literally have to be quiet to be stealthy.

Trying to temper my expectations but I really like Boyarsky.

Attached: 5.jpg (400x387, 22K)

What about Hitman

Attached: C500F128-D1CF-455C-8075-10F2C0DEA99C.jpg (500x535, 49K)

It's to pretend you're someone else, retard. Disguises, bitch.

I don't know, I don't play hitman. I'm genuinely curious as this sounds like it makes no sense. If you are really good at bartering how does that improve your stealth at all?

Each attempt Obsidian makes to create their own universe rather than simply deconstruct a setting made by others, has been more disastrous than the last. Aside from the outdated gameplay and lifeless cities, Pillars of Eternity's only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of combat mechanics, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Sawyer vetoed the idea of making anything at all innovative or original; he made sure the game would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable nostalgia pandering to ageing Baldur's Gate fans. Pillars of Eternity might be anti-casual(or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Divinity series in its refusal of spontaneity, fun and excitement.

>a-at least the writing was good though

"No!"

The writing is dreadful; the narrative was terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time I engaged in dialogue with an NPC the game presented me with a Wiki-page style infodump instead of anything resembling actual human conversation.

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time this was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Sawyer's mind is so governed by obsession with pointless minutiae of the lore that he has no other style of writing.

Later I read a lavish, loving review of Pillars of Eternity by the same David Gaider. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kiddies are playing Obsidian games at 17 or 18, then when they get older they will go on to enjoy Dragon Age II." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Pillars of Eternity" you are, in fact, trained to shill for Bioware.

>just ask one question the real person would know
>don't know it
shit makes no sense. Disguises makes sense, saying that is stealth is retardo.

Not bartering. It works like: you get caught with a disguise on, they question you if you’re new around here or something, and then you persuade them that you’re normal, and they trust you cause you’re wearing the uniform and cause you gave them a good excuse

...but they didn't trust you at first because you WERE wearing a uniform but didn't know any of the social mores that go with said uniform.
That isn't consistent at all.

Ancient pasta at this point

It's also just an ad-libbed version of the Harry Potter pasta from Yea Forums
No one will notice the second this dude gets sick from posting it

Who says it’s because you didn’t know the social norms, from the way it was described it’s more like they didn’t recognize you as a part of whatever group they’re in, like having one too many guards posted and being like “oh whatever one extra gaurd”

You can look at yourself in the inventory and also if you stand idle for a while the camera zooms out and goes third person and rotates around

Fair enough, they should kill you instantly then and not ask questions. They obviously know you aren't supposed to be there and the person you are disguised as presumably would know that (not knowing the social mores). The dialogue just follows the (failed) stealth mechanic, they aren't really linked in any fashion.

They sound as interlinked as my dick and a woman's vagina - not at all.

>Hitman is not a stealth based game
Based retard

Who is talking about hitman?

Me. It's a stealth game.

I agree, but this is an Outer Worlds thread.
I was more a Splinter Cell kind of guy back in the day.

yeah, i'm certainly going to pirate it

Attached: 5555.jpg (1460x821, 164K)

Great thread guys, we all deserve a malted milk shake.

I’m sure you can still ghost it if that’s the case. I like stealth too but I never do it in these kinds of games

Using disguises is stealth
Talking helps the disguise if you're good at talking
This is not a hard concept to grasp

>voiced protag is bad

can obshitian even make a good game anymore? squish squish pretty fish

Full merchant build is always the most fun. Having weak as fuck stats but being flush with dosh and expendable invulnerable companions doing all my work for me.
I understand the Isrealites a little more with every game.

Talking helps the ruse, not the disguise. The disguise was faulty from the outset since they figured you out. I get what you are saying, it just sounds very poorly implemented or thought out. It will probably work just as janky as anything else in these games so its a non-issue in the grand scheme of it all.

This thread absolutely reeks of shilling. 250 replies, 48 posters and only 32 images? My ass. Where do I sign up to get paid to shill all day? Sounds like a comfy job.

Ya seethe?

>Talking helps the ruse, not the disguise
What does this even mean? How the fuck is a disguise not a ruse?

Attached: r3.png (499x338, 38K)

choler humored and illuminatedtinctured

the disguise is part of the ruse failing in the first place, necessitating the dialogue skills. The disguise actively harmed the ruse. If you don't get suspicion at all, the outfit is helping the ruse, but then you don't get the dialogue options.
They are mechanics in conflict.

Honestly I can appreciate the fact Randy is a bad ass enough dude to say he doesn't fucking care about the customer so long as his studio is getting paid. All those assholes trying to pretend it's "for the devs" are obnoxious. Sweeney's devs are treated like shit and under constant crunch time to shit out Fortnite skins and dab emotes ahaha ohnonono not THOSE devs

Can you create your own character?

>Everyone is 100% silent at all times
Sometimes, when you don't talk, you blew it

I respect him for being as stupid as he is and showing it shamelessly. I find it hilarious he gets upset people treat him like garbage and those people respond with variations of "have you ever heard of Randy Pitchfork? The guy that takes pictures of himself in bathrooms while crying Randy Pitchford?"

You have to.
