Homeworld.
Twenty years ago, this was the scene of the last war on earth...
Now that's an easy one OP.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
step aside
youtube.com
how has this kinopiece never been ported yet
your mom
Banner Saga
And all total war intros except E*mpire and R*me 2
I remember this blowing my mind back when I was like 14 when it originally came out
youtube.com
Soul Edge

ff8 opening, fft opening,
all time king is secret of mana opening
"The nuclear weapons disposal facility on Shadow Moses Island in Alaska's Fox Archipelago was attacked and captured by Next-Generation Special Forces being led by members of FOX-HOUND."
I always like the Budokai 3 opening
/THREAD.
How can people think this is anything but cringe?
So kain went from being a tragic anti hero to a Disney gargoyle but super EEEEEVIL and that's supposed to be cool?
Came here to post all three of these, excellent taste. Here's a more obscure pick, if you're a 90s anime boomer you may appreciate it.

MGS2
All Namco fighting games have kino openings, but TTT is by far the most kino.
youtube.com
This and Melee remain the epitome of a FG opening. Nothing like getting a glimpse of backstory, origin, lore and conflict of the characters such a short and swift sequence
I liked it with the exception of that high pitched fake sounding trumpet dooting.
>Implying

this one

I would never skip this.
98 had a better one if you ask me.

how was it not the first reply

Most Tales opening's are pretty fucking great
If this was best fight I could have posted this youtube.com
that transition blew my goddamn mind back then
>Opening changes depending where you are in the story like an anime season
>You get an ED when you save and quit for the day
Wild ARMS 3 is pure kino.
its backwards compatible you raging retard
youtube.com
Persona 3
Same, it was so cool and it just like "Ok now fight that whole army you seen in the opening cut scene"
Dream Drop Distance HD.
namco non fighting games have great openings too
youtube.com
youtube.com
That was an awesome intro with a great song.
youtube.com
>Sunrise.
kino
youtube.com
Say whatever you want about Wrath, but the intro cinematic was the best Blizzard have ever put out. Fucking debate me.
>10 hours into the game
>First time idling on the world map for more than 30 seconds
>That guitar riff kicks in out of fucking nowhere over the relaxing pan pipes
LO was too good for this world.
youtu.be
If you count the tanker as the opening, which you should
Based
youtube.com
Persona opening are too fucking good.
I feel Wrath of the Lich King was the best and most effort they put into anything really.
I like you OP
youtu.be
I always enjoy watching this one for some reason.
Why are tales intros themes so fucking kino?
youtube.com
I unironically love this game, this intro and this song.
Parasite eve, how is this even a question.
youtube.com
>Even the worst fucking Tales game has a amazing opening
It's really weird how they are always so amazing.
youtube.com
They are just good
I downloaded toonstruck last night thanks to GOG. It was pretty fucking great and the voice acting in french was amazing. The same voice actors used in cinema.

Been a while since I saw the Abyss opening. Now I want to know who did the the key frames especially for the Asch part, that shit is crispy.
Tales of Berseria had to have the oddest party comp I have ever seen
>A murder demon swordsman
>A pirate nicknamed the grim reaper
>A evil witch
>The demon lord
>A paladin
>A random kid you stole from someone
>"War....war has changed"
>"A tale of Souls and Swords, eternally retold."
>"You've heard of it haven't you? The legend of Sparda?"
>"I got a letter. The name on the envelope said 'Mary' "
What the fuck? Does it become gameplay like that?
I still haven't got a game to give me the same feeling as that fight with Asch
This is the shit right here. Unbeatable still. It really does transcend history and the world.
Yes you just go from the opening to straight gameplay fighting army with no explanation at all just throwing you right into it.
>Spread your wings and fly. God be with you.
I want to go back to that era
No idea, it look way too good for a PS2 game.
Correct on all points. The DMC3 intro is a work of art.
youtube.com
This and the title screen was comfy as hell and got me hyped to start some atrocities and revolutions. I don't know why it appeals to me, especially since I've never actually completed a game of IV: Colonization.
I've always liked SC2's intro the most. Just that big orchestral swell at the start: youtube.com
youtube.com
I've never seen a more over the top, ridiculous fucking opening to this day, and I love it.
youtube.com
If you didn't lose your shit over smash bros melee's opening back in the day you have no soul, it still looks like a celebration of videogames themselves honestly.
setup for ascension was much better
youtube.com
but my favorite still is Killzone2

But this one takes the cake:

It's amazing how stylish that STILL looks. Even graphically it's impressive.
Ok but why hasn't it been ported to PC or a console I own hm?
Too bad its fucking shit
Literal FF13 reskin
>youtube.com
>blocking the sword with one gun
>shooting the blade away with the other
God damn why is it so much rarer that films make me feel this much hype?
The last film I can remember being so gripping from the very beginning was Fury Road.
ported to platforms worth playing on retard. no one with an IQ over 90 would buy an xbone
>That chanting
>That everything
Holy fuck my dick
>xbone
You know exactly what he meant faggot
Freelancer
BF1942
cheetahmen
I want you to die so badly
What game is this?
youtu.be
Nearly flipped my shit when I heard it start playing during the SE conference.
God I love this game.
Monster Hunter openings are pretty much 100% kino.
The one above is my favorite but all of them are extremely good
Holy fuck I'm playing this game
Hyperlight Drifter. Game was eh.
You can say a lot about 00s/10s Capcom but some of their intros or trailers were god tier
youtube.com
Is it just nostalgia?
Having never played a ff game this video came across as cringey, poorly translated wank.
It's so melodramatic and overwrought.
It's really really good, too bad it's stuck as a Xbone 360 only JRPG. It was kinda neat to get into how much it would suck to live forever becuase the MC is an immortal
Name another series with openings that invoke such a mellow feel

It's clear you vaguely remember two games and didn't played the rest, since Kain on Blood Omen was an asshole, granted it was not his fault but he was still irredeemably evil all most of the time. On Soul Reaver if you pay attention he's clearly trying to warm Raziel that the future is predestined but he won't listen so he escapes back to the past.
And if you would've played Soul Reaver 2 and Defiance you would've know Kain isn't super evil and his actions on the first SR were actually pretty justified and necessary. Especially on Defiance he returns to being the Tragic Hero.
youtube.com
>dat music
>dat dragon with a mouth clitoris
Brawl had an amazing intro
youtu.be
The music is good. The animation itself, especially the first part, becomes better once you've played it.
Melee's is just the damn E3 trailer, all the other Smash do the same shit but people only fellate Melee for it.
Make way for the GOAT: youtube.com
To this day I've yet to see a game opening that perfectly encapsulates the game's main theme, in this case, converging paths, as well as Minstrel Song's opening cinematic.
>No Lunar
For shame Yea Forums
youtube.com
>Rend, slaughter, devour your enemies! There is no other way to survive; you cannot escape your hunger, warriors of Purgatory!
This game was so good
wtf is the point of the gun being attached to the blade?
