It depends. If it's as good as sources say (12TF, Zen 2 CPU with decent clock speed, SSD) then I'll probably just get the vanilla when it has good games. Or if it upgrades PS4 games immensely.

No, I don't think so. Things seem to be shifting to services, whether we like it or not, and that'll carve things up a lot more than they are now. They'll probably still be the top dog, but it won't be as one sided as things are right now.

Stadia will be proof that nobody cares about streaming. And once that meme is dead (like Cloud gaming before it, and 3D gaming, and even VR), we can move on to the next fad for publishers to foolishly chase.

Microsoft is going in for the kill. All Sony has to do is not fuck it up but they have been for the past few years. It's a cycle where one company wins the gen but gets too full of themselves and think they can do whatever they want. Sony put out the PS3 and sold it for $600 and the thing was a nightmare to program for. 360 won that generation because even with the PS3 outselling the 360 in the last year all the PS3's after their last price reduction were sold at a loss and was considered by Sony themselves as a failure. So MS was full of themselves and threw out an inferior spyware system with online DRM and Sony pretended they were consumers' friend. And everyone ate it up and after Sony won they decided to go back to their usual self while still pumping out good games to keep people happy enough.

Microsoft has been pretty lackluster in their announcements and games but have been beefing up their features and support. My honest guess is that they're waiting until next year and they're going to have a shit ton of first party exclusives to get people to buy their next console so they can get them in homes and then push their game pass service for consistent monetization for years to come. They're going to buy more studios so they can also put out games on other platforms and make even more money that way.

Most notable Japanese games are still Playstation exclusive and that doesn't seem like it will be changing with the next Xbox, and with Microsoft doubling down with the PC and throwing every exclusive they have on Xbox day one on PC and also with the PC gamepass, what's the point of not just getting a PS5 next gen if you're gonna get one or the other?

MS is quitting the hardware race to instead focus on software and services. It's obvious even if the next Xbox is godly in every way, people will still choose PS5 over it due to brand power.

Not likely, If Microsoft continues to gain favor with the consumer by lifting restrictions on the console and their IPs.
It would be really great if they were to put Windows on their new console so that it could be used for more than just a gaming system.
If Xbox could double as a PC that would be amazing and a great reason to buy an Xbox vs a PS4.
I'm sure more people would buy an Xbox if they could also use it for writing papers in college.
