Good
pretty good
it's pretty good, shits on outlast
Pretty good but could have shaved off 2 hours and been a tighter experience.
Pretty good. A must have for fans of the first Alien movie anyway.
Best alien game
horrible replay value and way too long
The first good game of the generation
One of the best horror games and licensed games of the last decade. It's one of the few games that overstays its welcome though.
Amazing atmosphere. Fun gameplay. The main problem is, because you're so stressed out playing it (a good thing for a horror game), it really drains you and you're likely to burn out before the end. I gave up when I got down to the alien nest despite loving the game the whole way through: it was just too much of a good thing...
last good western game
...I actually really regret now not playing the original Alien movie bonus missions or whatever that was. I may get it on Switch just for that.
deserves a spiritual successor
is it a boring hide n seek simulator like outlast and Amnesia?
The ayyy nest should have been the climax with only one level afterwards. Instead it goes on for another 3 hours or so.
What's crazy is the studio had been doing nothing but "Total War" games for decades (what even is Total War?), then they totally hit it out of the park with Isolation, and then go back to what they were doing before. They clearly have what it takes to be a AAA prestige studio if given the chance.
I loved the fact it's so tiring by that point. Makes actually reaching the end a huge relief since you survived through so much.
Kinda
Except you're supposed to fight back sometimes
ehhhh hard pass then
hide and seek only as far as the Alien is concerned. You can fight against humans and Cyborgs, though. You also can scare of the Alien with fire.
You can kill any enemy but the alien and you can fight the alien off with certain limited items, so there's more gameplay. But you will generally be trying to hide.
the original movie dlcs were really really good. First part was decent but the last part (From when the last of the humans besides ripley die to her escape) is the best "slice' of the games gameplay you could find, its a perfect mix of stealth and action
It's funny, especially since everyone wrote off Alien games as being dead considering how badly Gearbox tarnished the franchise with Colonial Marines.
Flamethrower breaks the game. Giving it to you for a section in the middle would have been OK but it should have been quickly taken away again (maybe it was and I forget).
It's fantastic and one of the best recent horror games out there. The Alien AI is great, and the gameplay is pretty good. I definitely recommend it.
Typically, you are better off NEVER using items against the Alien until very late game so you can actually use them against it. Feel free to fuck up any Humans (that aren't apart of the story) and Cyborgs however.
That's what surprised me alot. Some "literally who?" company just appearing, making some fantastic survival horror Alien game, then fucking off back to Total War.
Nah, it doesn't unless you're playing on a low difficulty. It just spooks the Alien a few times, then the Alien stops giving a fuck and just kills you when you try to use it.
Sega isn't interested in taking any chances. They just want franchises they can milk with yearly instalments. They're worse than EA.
I wouldn't call CA a "literal who" company, considering they're well known in the strategy game circles because of Total War. But yeah I see what you mean. They made the best Alien game since the early AvP ones. And the fact it was an Alien game and not a Aliens game (big difference, not even joking) is even better.
Anyone played this in VR?
It's the one and only game I've ever played I thought would be improved with VR.
I refuse to play it because I know I'd be too terrified to do anything.
Well, I called them a "literal who" company because I, and others like myself who didn't really play the strategy genre didn't know who they were. And you're right, the distinction is extremely important. If it were an Aliens game, we would've gotten something along the lines of the Marine campaigns in AvP Classic 2000, or AVP 2 (or hell, maybe even AvP Jaguar if you're that old), and desu, I don't see AVP Classic 2000 ever being replicated or surpassed. The 2010 game certain didn't (however, I still enjoyed it and replay it sometimes).
I haven't played it in VR, though I'd love to. I've heard that it's absolutely amazing to play in VR after tweaking it to work. It'd probably be super horrifying though.
It's a good looking game made just before every studio starting sharing texture suites and using PBR. Which is why all the new AAA titles are looking the same too.
I agree that it's both stressful and that it's so satisfying once you finish the game. By making it so climatic during the gameplay, it really satisfies the player once they reach the end. I don't think they game would've been as good otherwise had it not have that stressful edge to it.
>or AVP 2
That reminds me, what are the chances of getting a re-release of it like AvP 2000? I heard that it was still in legal hell.
Never, there are websites dedicated to it where you can download it completely free and fine. There's even a Master Server Patch last I checked where you could play online with. At least AvP Classic 2000 is fine though.
It's good but too long. A bit of a drag towards the end.
The DLC is total garbage nostalgia bait and extremely short. Like 30 minutes or less each.
Its shit
>Letting people who are unable to get scared by a game review a horror game
Great game
Boring walking/hide n seek simulator.
I was hoping for a better game
What horror game isn't a walking and/or hiding/hide n seek simulator?
Good, but a bit tedious at times.
>total war
>literal who
Underage out.
Dead Space
The Evil Within
Silent Hill
Darkwood
I could go on. The hide n seek shit only starting getting popular when Amnesia was all over YouTube. It's a shit and lazy way to make a horror game.
Mostly great but goes on a little too long. Production value is top fucking tier and the faithfulness to Alien is a joy as a fan of the movie.
Total War is a AAA RTS series. I don't even understand your post.
The only canon sequel to Alien and Aliens.
You clearly didn't play it.
Not scary
Boring
Drags on x10 longer than it should
4/10 , it's a meme to say it's actually good
Predator Isolation when? Alien Isolation was great and I'd love to see Predator Isolation and see how everything works and adapts with the Predator.
I played for a while after you first meet the Alien and the game is so boring I just dropped it.
Unless you enjoy hide and seek I would avoid.
A good game with clear passion for the original ALIEN. You can get it for so cheap now that it's worth at least trying if you're a fan, even if only for the 2 DLCs based on the movie. The only real issue I had with it is that it feels like it drags on for too long and by the end of the game the alien becomes more annoying than a legitimate threat.
>Predator Isolation
no, just no, that boy doesnt fuck around.
The problem with this (and Alien Isolation to some extent) is that in the movies the humans have no idea where the monsters are and tend to get ambushed at key points in the story. That would be extremely frustrating in a game however so they make it like Outlast in which you can see the monster at all times and just have to hide from it. This was partially remedied by the motion tracker but the idea of crouching behind a log and watching a Predator until it walks away for a 10 hour campaign sounds ridiculous.
Never ever.
The dev Monolith (not THAT one) got bought by WB because of FEAR. It was published by Sierra which was bought by Activision. AvP was licensed by Fox which was bought by Disney, and SEGA currently has the license.
NOLF is a similar clusterfuck in regards to ownership.
