Quality > quantity. Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life managed to distill the choices down to 3 and they were all good in their own way. Every set of bachelorettes in the Rune Factory series has gotten worse and worse because they’re just overdone walking tropes. There needs to be more care put into them for RF5.

It's clunky. The setting is nice, story is fine, and the selection of girls is great, but gameplay wise--from mechanics, to controls, to animations--almost everything is kinda slow and janky. Natsume's localization is pretty crummy too. Still, it's worth a shot of you like the series. You can emulate it for free and use cheats to avoid the horribly implemented "Runey system".

Never played a Rune Factory game but wanted to for over a decade and excited for 5. Do you guys think the RF4 port is a more advisable purchase than Sakuna Of Rice and Ruin once they come out? I'm willing to hold out for the JP release of RF5 next year.

Yes, Rune Factory 4 has a metric ton of content. Sakuna looks good too but it's a small indie game so I can't speak for it, it looks good though.

the only one I played is frontier. I cheated because people said it was more fun to not have to worry about runeys but that made everything grow too fast. I heard 3 is the best but I got autistic because the girl I picked out from a lineup ended up being one you can't marry and never played it. are they finally making rf5 or was that announcement for something else?

They announced RF5, no release date but I'd guess mid or late 2020 at best
