And a beta is the game minus final bugfixes. There's not much time for them to fix problems, honestly. At least this time there'll probably be a day one patch instead of the publisher not letting the devs continue fixing the game once it goes gold (which is months before the release date, you understand. If it comes out in May, it'll be finished by Feburary at the VERY latest, likely earlier.)

tl;dr this is not a game early in its development and you're a fool if you believe it is.

It looks unpolished, but the core gameplay doesn't look inherently bad. It just needs a shit load of polishing and to be played by someone who isn't an idiot. The entire time watching all these videos all I can think of is that I could have made it look way more fun. Did we ever see anybody use mentalism to rip a weapon out of an enemy's hand? Or chiropteran to glide in the air and shoot at enemies on the ground who only have melee weapons?

Caine's part in VtMB probably shouldn't be looked into too deeply. It's all mostly a metaphor for his blood affecting vampire's fates.

Yeah I played it before replaying Bloodlines again. The story is top notch and the ost is pretty damn kickass. The gameplay definitelly hasn't aged well though and the ending is sort of abrupt(you'll know why when you see it). Try to keep your humanity high as it affects the endings you can get and dropping it is as simple as killing a few people(if you want to get all endings). Very much worth it in my opinion. You'll have to play it in 800x resolution, don't try going beyond that as it will break the cutscenes or your game.

A part of me really likes the idea of Malkavian if they're going for something more grounded this time around, and you're actually dealing with visions and hallucinations in a scenario where you don't know what's actually normal and who can be trusted.

But otherwise I'll probably end up going with Tremere. I like the whole theme of "knowledge is power" and advancing in the ranks among a bunch of goth nerd mages.

It's always fun playing an imperious dick but dominate didn't have a huge presence in conversations in the first, so it was easier to do that with a toreador or even a tremere rather than Venture. They've stated disciplines can get checked in conversations so a Ventrue might be worth a run. Otherwise an undead academic tremere or falcon punching brujah inspired by beardy biker man

looked better than what I was expecting. people have outrageously high expectations for this game. I loved the first but it was a really flawed gem and I dont expect this to be any different. up to date and more polished but it will still be flawed and that is ok as long as the story is good.

my issue is that i really like the music from the first game because that is the music I listened to in high school so its nostalgic. this game takes place today and the music will probably reflect that sadly. I still hope we get some nu-metal and hard rock kind of music though.

Finally doing a malk run what stats should I focus in? I want to focus on melee for weapons and get the most out of the “malk” dialogue.

Malkavians are better suited to guns, both because you're allowed to start with high firearms in character creation and because they have no combat powers that help with melee so defaulting to the stronger guns playstyle is the better idea in the lategame.
Make sure you level up Dementation to at least 3 as quickly as possible, that should get you all the options.
You won't need a very high stealth stat if you put points into Obfuscate.

PS:T and Mask of the Betrayer were great and now I don't like you.

You can still play melee with Malkavian. It's just going to be a little harder to beat the tougher fights like Ming Xiao, so come prepared.

Malkavians have the least combat potential in their disciplines. Auspex just boosts their firearms a bit, Obfuscate is just for stealth and Dementation is just for crowd control against human enemies which are mostly a joke outside of the mooks in the final levels. Since guns are more powerful than melee in the second half of the game, it makes sense for the weakest clan to use them. And again, Malkavians can start with a higher firearms skill than any other clan.
