Is that a team tactical pattern?

How much story will i miss in a solo playthrough?

You will miss out on a giant space hamster.

Kys spammer

part of the charm are the companions banter with each other in 2
It isn't a whole lot in 1.
But hey if you wanna go solo, all power to you. You might actually get immersed more that way

>tfw want to play baldur's gate but not enough of a boomer to appreciate it

Same. It might be outdated for us.

Zoomers pls leave

I'm not a zoomer just a youngish boomer (27). As a result I can appreciate some older games (Planescape Torment, Fallout 1/2) but baldur's gate I find very difficult to enjoy.

I cast magic missile at the darkness

You are a millennial. The fact that you didn't play it when it was in the discount bin in the mid 00's is disgusting.

Just play it.
The controls are easy, and there aren't really any draconian design elements to the game.

Resolution might throw you off, but there are mods for that.

I'm 24 and I played Baldur's Gate (and got into CRPGs in general) last year. If I could play and really enjoy System Shock 1, which is about four months older than me, I figured those Infinity Engine games everyone goes on about wouldn't be too hard. Obviously they're archaic in many respects but timelessly good in others.

What are some of your favorite lines in BG?

I cannot be caged

The arguement with the Marl about his son who died adventuring.
1. Because it's not fan OC bullshit.
2. Because it's some real serious subject matter that isn't often found in crpgs.
3. Because you can talk your way out of the fight.

Playing any caster other than Wild Mage means you're a gigantic pussy. Using Robe of Vecna, Amulet of Power and Improved Alacrity is even doubly pussy-like and almost 100% assures that you didn't have sex in high school.

In the beginning of the 2nd one when you ask minsc where he hid boo when he was stripped down in put into the cage.

ERE NOW GEDDOUT, WE DON'T LIKE YER TYPE IN ERE
Heh, you tell'em Marl.

My hotel's as clean as an elven arse!

What is wrong with your game settings? All of the player characters look so out of place, as if they are cheap CGI in a traditional painting. My favorite dialogues are the ones in durlag's tower, with the ghost of the miserable dwarf.

@user
very based

tfw edited my character to have perrmanent imprroved alacrity

Robe of Vecna was worn by a lich though so it fits well.

speaking of companions should I worry that my "main" party is going to be missing in action come part II?

I really have a good synergy going but worry that some new NPCs will replace my team in II,are they like the old wizardry games where you can import weapons & characters over?

Attached: SwordCoast.jpg (1281x1800, 2.66M)

this is one of the things Beamdog did to the game. They fucked up the graphics and rewrote the dialogue to be more politically correct

I cannot imagine preferring to play anything other than a mage/wizard type (dual/multi is ok too). There is just so much more shit to play with. The only way you'd prefer no arcane antics is if you're a retard or you're living out your life long fantasy of being Brad Beefcake, top athlete and pussy slayer extraordinaire.

Zoomer millennial. Meanwhile I, a boomer millennial, also 23, played the game as a child and finished it as a young teenager.
Though to be fair it says more about my father’s taste in games rather than my own that I played it all that time ago.

Not him but cast the spell on yourself, save the game, open shadowkeeper and look for the id of the effect in the Affects tab. Set duration to -1. I think that is how I did it myself. Well, actually I dialed back the cheetos a bit and instead of permant effect just gave myself the lvl4 Daer'Ragh's Aura cleansing spell which is improved alacrity but lasts for long.
Also tweaked around some files with DLTCEP and added some spell to reset enemy status on NPCs so I could cast mind enfeblement, polymorph, curse, blindness, petrify and emprisonment on any NPC that displeased me, even plot-relevant, and guarantee I could undo all that shit if I ever needed to talk to them again.
Good times.

I started playing this for the first time like 2 weeks ago.

I got 2 first cause everyone told me it was the better game. I genuinely do not know what I’m doing. All my attacks keep missing and my party members all died in the first dungeon.

THE PROTAGONIST (YOU) IS A CHILD OF A LONG DEAD GOD WHO ONCE WAS FORCED TO WALK UPON FAERUN, WHO FORESAW HIS OWN DEATH IN A VISION AND PUMPED A BUNCH OF SLUTS TO CONTINUE HIS BLOODLINE HOPING ONE DAY TO BE REBORN SO HE COULD INFLICT MASSIVE DAMAGE AND TAKE OVER. THE ANTOGONIST (SAREVOK) IS ALSO A CHILD OF BHAAL OF EVIL ALIGNMENT AND WISHES TO BE THE LIVING REINCARNATION OF BHAAL THROUGH SLAUGHTER.

Did you have an aneurysm or did you just try to spoil a game from 1998?

Very despicable user. Have a (You).

>playing game 2 before game 1

>LONG DEAD GOD
not that long ago, the troubles wasn't that long before the game

hm apparently Bhaal only died 10 years before the game, not sure if that fits honestly.
Probably a mistake there somewhere, there are some dates in baldurs gate that don't make sense, like one of Sarevoks letters being dated wrong.

Anyone have that NPC portrait pack?

You lost him but you can keep playing.

My friend literally told me to skip 1 and just play 2 cause it was 1 but better.

I genuinely don’t know how to play this game.

Smite the bald cunt. Unfunny meme companion.

He was 100% right. You should still go back and play 1 when you get the chance. Also read more you retarded zoomer.

I’m not a Zoomer, I turn 29 in like 3 weeks. This is just my first time playing a CRPG like this on PC. I’ve been looking into guides, but most of them spend pages talking about builds and so on, and no one has really gone over the basic controls.

Why are all my attacks missing?

>I genuinely don’t know how to play this game.
There's that tutorial in the beginning that literally teaches you how to play the game.
Beyond that, you still need some basic knowledge of that specific DnD mechanics, because iirc the tutorial doesn't teach you about AC, THAC0, etc.
There is no learning on the fly in those old cRPGs. You have to have read the manual or at least have it ready.

how the FUCK do you deal with hold person on a solo run without cheesing going to endgame areas early

>no one has really gone over the basic controls
Maybe you should look that up then.
Also it shouldn't be typical at the beginning of Baldur's Gate 2 as people are decently levelled. Maybe you're using weapons with the wrong proficiency or you still don't realise that not every swing is an attack roll.

Basically you have the Thac0, that means to hit armor class 0, the lower this stat the better
It determines the roll you have to make to land a hit, so if you have 19 thac0 you need to roll 19 or higher to land a hit on a guy with 0AC, armor class works the same way for you getting hit (I might be mixing some things up here)
IIRC you should give all your characters bows in the first game because they're OP and melee sucks

>LAY A FINGER ON WHAT I PROTECT, AND FOREVERMORE YOU WILL ANSWER NATURE'S CALL WITH A HOOK!

This is the first mistake people new to the series always gets wrong. Even I got a hard time.
Usually you'd think: higher number = better, but for AC and THAC0, you want the exact opposite.

I SERVE THE FLAMING FIST.

Did you say HARD TIME?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 163K)

dwarf/halfing/gnome get huge saving throw bonus with high con, it's extremely helpfull in a solo run.

Ethics in heroic adventuring.

A select couple of items and your character import, that's it. No choices carry over, and the canon party is Khalid, Jaheira, Mins, Imoen and Dinaheir, when you meet Edwin and Viconia in 2 they won't know who you are.

Bows are meme weapons meant for party members with shitty stats. Melee is much better if you have a good strength score(18/00 or 19+) and especially once you get grandmastery.

>dark elfs + "ethics"

good one

Attached: FISKMÅNGLERSKAN.jpg (1710x2133, 506K)

I never played the originals but picked up EE a few weeks back. It's amazing how well these games hold up today.
One thing I don't understand... how do you guys deal with companion quests? Am I supposed to just dump a party member for the companion while I do their quest? Doesn't my original party member lose all that XP.
Also, on my next playthrough I want to create a party from scratch. Anything I should know?

>grandmastery
>in BG1
Is that even achievable?

Why lie? They didn't rewrite anything and the black outlines is an optional graphic setting.
The SJW shit is in their shitty fanfic expansion, they didn't touch any existing writing for 1 or 2.

>Also, on my next playthrough I want to create a party from scratch. Anything I should know?
I'd consider playing iwd and do that instead, since it's made with that in mind. IWD:EE with the kit classes may make it too easy though, but I'm not sure, I haven't played it enough but heard an user talking about it, and I think it makes sense, so you may want to stay away from kit classes for a more pure experience.

Otherwise for a party where you design them all in baldurs gate, you could edit the existing characters, if you still want their banter and story. I have two friends who played it multiplayer and went that route, and they turned Aerie into an Archer because they wanted an archer.

>When Neera is used goods

Attached: wj0HO9L.jpg (700x525, 22K)

Sounds good.

Fighters get grandmastery at level 9, so of course it is.
Best part is that you can do cheesy bullshit with dual classing.
Make a Level 1 Fighter and then dual class it into Mage, you now have a Mage that can get grandmastery, even though he has only 1 level of Fighter in him.
2E is fucking broken and anyone complaining that 3.5E is overpowered and broken clearly hasn't figured out all the broken shit you can do in 2E.

>Make a Level 1 Fighter and then dual class it into Mage, you now have a Mage that can get grandmastery, even though he has only 1 level of Fighter in him.
Only in EE or tutu.
In vanilla bg1 you couldn't add more pips after transitioning.

Unrelated but also an interesting quirk related to bg1 and bg2 dual classing, in bg1 if you dual class into a mage you could choose a specialist mage.
But in bg2 you can only dual class into a standard mage.
Apparently if you convert a Fighter>Conjurer to bg2 it turns itno a Fighter>Mage.

Quick dual classes from fighter is also useful for getting exceptional strength and access to some extra items, like shields and helmets.
More useful in iwd though, since you can get to 19 strength anyway.

>Only in EE or tutu.
In EVERYTHING except original BG1 actually.
That includes ORIGINAL, PRE-EE IWD1 and BG2.

Friends. How is Fighter/Cleric for a BG1/2 play through?

I always heard in 2E that a fighter with darts is the best dpr you get for a long while as it vastly outperforms most things

>That includes ORIGINAL, PRE-EE IWD1 and BG2.
I mean we're talking about what you can do in bg1 so those don't really matter, and you're never even level 1 in bg2.

Multiclass Fighters are factually worthless because in terms of vidya they stop getting any relevant or useful stuff past Level 13.
And even past Level 9 the only unique thing they get is 1/2 attack at Level 13.
In PnP they actually get cool shit such as their own mercenaries and fans that follow them, but that would be broken in vidya so they don't have those in vidya.
As such multiclass Fighter is objectively bad decision.
If you must have Fighter, make it a dual class and fuck off from it at level 9 or 13 whichever you prefer.

Solid class. Buff yourself up and you'll do some insane damage.

Nobody means original BG1 when they talk about BG1.
These days in 99% of cases people mean EE and the remaining 1% is BGT/TuTu.
You need genuine fucking autism to play the broken, buggy assbackwards shit that is original BG1.

Just be a dwarf or gnome.

Wait can you not make a full party from scratch in BG I or II?

I thought D&D was all about being able to change classes on a whim?

>Nobody means original BG1 when they talk about BG1.
That goalpost must be heavy

Imagine being so autistic that you actually play and talk about original BG1 when nobody else does.

>Wait can you not make a full party from scratch in BG I or II?
I didn't say anything about that.

So heavy

Autism speaks.

Reminder that there's a full 3.5E conversion mod for the EE versions of BG1, BG2 and IWD1.
github.com/Holic75/Baldurs-gate-dnd-3.5/releases

I didn't read the spoiler bit this response just hyped the shit out of me.

Currently in Cloakwood mines, btw.

>still had thac0
I don't think so.

>no cantrips

Engine limitation, the only difference between 2E and 3.5E in this regard anyway is that in 2E the better number is lower and in 3E+ they reversed it so higher is better, other than that it's the same basically.

That's 5E you dumb nigger.

>modder to do list: add cantrips
3.5 had cantrips retard. Light/guidance/virtue/resistance

How are enemy, spell and item stats affected?

Shit you're right, could've sworn they were only added in Pathfinder and then ripped off by 5E.

They follow the same changes, but you generally need the "more powerful enemies" for them to take advantage of the mechanic changes.

Thanks I'll check it out

>Thanks I'll check it out
Generally you essentially want to install all the components for it to work properly, I don't even know why he made it modular cause some shit will straight up break if you don't install all of the components.
Also be warned, since it's a total conversion mod it takes fucking AGES to install.
My Weidu took like 20 minutes to install it, I thought it froze but that's how long it just took.

Shit, I keep meaning to get back to that. I went to Nashkel to drop off the two Evil party members, got hit with a Chapter 2 sign and was so annoyed at being forced along I stopped playing.

1. Is the Imoen romance mod any good?
2. Does it work with EE?

don't know if i should give this game another try or just move on to BG2. got to chapter 5 but it felt like i was cheesing every fight by save scumming

why? It's not a point of no return it's just a story marker

>1. Is the Imoen romance mod any good?
Yes, because it's not just romance but also general dialogue expansion.
Imoen is basically silent 95% of the time after you rescue her without mods which is full retard.

>2. Does it work with EE?
Yes

Oh and the romance part, contrary to what you might think from the mod name, is actually optional.

Small PSA warning to those that will use this mod, make sure to install it LAST and to not combine it with some other gameplay changing mods otherwise shit will break.

Because I wanted to take my time and explore, while the two Evil party members were bitching me out and I hadn't finished any of the quests in Chapter 1.

In short, me being a bitch. I'll get back to it. Thanks for the reminder, OP.

Currently replaying IWD, shame nobody ported Auril's Bane mod to EE, or "IWD-in-BG2" for that matter.

I bought divinity since I had never heard of larian and wanted to see what their games are like. The first one is awesome until you get too strong and the developer's strategy is to replace combat with PUZZLE PUZZLE PUZZLE along with a bunch of traps to end of the game.

cute
actually post it though, I'll save it

Not mine unfortunately and the person I know that made it is currently offline so can't ask them for it

>the developer's strategy is to replace combat with PUZZLE PUZZLE PUZZLE along with a bunch of traps to end of the game.
I remember DivDiv's end just being a giant combat slog, though.
Same with Beyond Divinity except the entire game is a combat slog.
Same with Divinity 2: Ego Draconis and you're just combat slogging through floating fortress after floating fortress.

They love their endgame combat slogs.

Maybe I am not there yet. It was one fuck huge puzzle to get in the source temple one to get through it and now some twisted memory maze into what I am hoping is the void dragon fight. I heard the got rid of alot of fights at the end in the enhanced edition?

Are you playing Divine Divinity or Original Sin?
Cause Original Sin is not Divinity 1 you dumb nigger.

I've been playing through BG1, and that honestly makes me just want to make a new character for BG2 since I ran an evil party with Viconia and Edwin. I also know that Xzar isn't a companion in 2, which is really disappointing.

How am I doing?

Attached: party.jpg (3630x1492, 3.31M)

Just play a kensei and unga bunga your way through the first few levels until you feel comfortable enough do more complicated things in combat with your companions like casting spells.

You're welcome

Yea but idc about some crappy Diablo clone or w/e the other games are. Original sin is what got larian bg3

Calling Divine Divinity a Diablo clone is full retard.
It has hack'n'slash combat but still shitload of dialogue and RPG elements, much more than Diablo ever did.
Divinity 2 is not even the same genre, it's 3rd person ARPG instead.
And Dragon Commander is a RTS/pol/simulator.
Larian used to love making each of their games in different genres before they started making only cRPGs starting with DivOS1.
Anyway I don't see what you mean about puzzles in DivOS1 because if anything the game gets far more combat heavy in the third act and the final act/epilogue is one linear combat romp.

I hope you're playing EE and not the broken original version that's literally unfinished.

>Why lie? They didn't rewrite anything

Attached: beamniggers.png (661x245, 39K)

what's the point of this powergaming. the game is easy

she is talking about addressing these things with siege of dragonspear. learn to reading comprehension

siege of dragonspear was indeed dogshit

It's far from perfect setup though, Blade is quite shitty and Swashbuckler is just an inferior Fighter/Thief (in fact the same applies for Blade).
Red Dildo Disciple is worse than pure Sorcerer in 2E cause no cool shit like transforming into a dragon.
Druids are in general inferior to Clerics.
Sure there's plenty minmaxing there but it's still not the absolute most broken setup possible.

I assume it's just purely for fun and that they already beaten the game

Has anyone played through Avernum before? Are they as good as Baldur's Gate?

Fair enough. I do enjoy the IWD games for this reason. It's fun thinking up a 6 man team.

Eh, optimization arguments generally reach the conclusion of ''you should be playing a sorcerer or dualed berserker>mage'' anyway

That's a fat kid.

That's my point, I'm just playing for fun especially since I played all the IE games countless times so I'm just fucking around with party setups I haven't used yet.
Next time around I'm definitely playing with that 3.5E mod posted earlier ITT though.
Shame there's no IWD2EE or even 3.5E upgrade for IWD2 (cause it's 3E).

You shouldn't approach Avernum in the eyes of BG series. They're different, and one has an obviously larger budget.
The only similarities they have is that they're fantasy games in isometric perspective.

That's fine, as long as they aren't like Pillars of Eternity with nu Obsidian writing.

I played a bit from a couple years back apparently the version I played was a "remake" on an more ancient version from way back when

but to answer you question yeah it was pretty fun for the first few hours

Playing Pillars of Eternity genuinely felt like playing a shittier, more bloated Icewind Dale.

The writing genuinely annoyed me, and this is coming from a huge new vegas and kotor 2 fag.

not much, each companion has one quest and a bunch of lines they say depending on your reputation, that's pretty much it for bg1. bg2 has a lot more companion quests

Same here but it wasn't just the writing, it was also the setting and how pathetic the gods reveal and charname past was.

Archer will be your MVP

dumb nigger doesn't know how to read what a surprise, they added new lines to safana in the dlc, without touching her lines in the main game

Are the latest remastered versions worth a shot nowadays? I'd really like to get into that franchise but I was too young when it was prime time.

The encounter design outside of a few standout fights like Concelhaut and Deathguard raedric is fucking atrocious, even in the 3.0 version. It really is knockoff IWD.

PoE 2's combat and encounters are much better designed than the first game, at the cost of a lot of the rest of the game.

Avernum and Geneforge are both great if you can get past how obviously low budget all the games are

>Same. It might be outdated for us.

The new versions are updated with some user friendly features and it makes it more accessible. I'm talking about quality of life features.

Even if the Beamdog pasta guy keeps posting, and no matter how much anons tell you that it's bad, people are just gonna install the EEs because it's convenient.
Look at this thread, only 1 guy is posting the original.

He is, especially since he's equipped with this.

Unironically yes, but pirate so Beamdog doesn't get money.
Siege of Dragonspear expansion is pretty fanfic but it has some decent things about it, it's mostly meh to bad with glimpses of good.
The base EEs themselves are perfectly fine.
IWD is basically objectively better than original since they didn't add any fanfic to it.
BG1EE and BG2EE have the new Beamdog companions which are ehhhhh but you can ignore them or just mod them out (there's a mod that removes them).
They also replaced the CGI prerendered cutscenes in BG1 with hand-drawn 2D ones so you may want to get the mod to replace those with originals as well.
BG2 and IWD cutscenes are untouched, same with PST (also free of fanfic additions and objectively better than original).
Just remember to turn off the absolutely cancerous character outlines in graphics settings.

Attached: 321800_20190616055634_1.png (1920x1080, 2.05M)

what is the beamdog pasta guy rambling about?

woah thanks for the quality reply

>woah thanks for the quality reply
No problem, also when pirating make sure it's the latest 2.5 versions, earlier builds have some bugs (some carryover from originals, some new).

Is it true they lost the code for Icewind Dale 2 so we'll never get an EE? That sucks if true.

Yes, they even put up a bounty for it but nobody claimed it.

3 attacks per round is pretty sick

I'm currently playing the original, sorry for the shitty picture. Clunkiness can be part of the charm of old games. EE had too many negative points against if from people that had been perfectly happy playing the original for years, so I went original.

Attached: 20190610_162927.jpg (2576x1932, 2.11M)

So BG3 should be:
>turn based
>real time with pause
>something else
Choose!

Attached: 1348200813147.jpg (600x615, 47K)

I can't really blame for that because those 3d cutscenes aged like milk. It's an amazing contrast compared to the 2d backgrounds which can still look good today

It indeed is, I already found like 2 or 3 Longbows +3 but none of them had extra attacks per round so I threw them into the merchant trashcan.
3APR is just too good to pass up.

Will BG3 be RTWP or turn based?

>I can't really blame for that because those 3d cutscenes aged like milk.
They have their charm and I really wish they just let the players choose instead of forcing the new ones.

Nobody except Larian knows, Swen is very tight lipped on that and what camera perspective it will be.

>real time with pause
don't even mention that

Attached: 1549758021289.jpg (222x266, 32K)

You got memed, congratulations for being a parrot moron with no opinion of his own.

Turn based is based

Third person action game with dodge mechanics and 2 party members on AI only.

3rd person shooter where you're forced to be a caster class and you use your staff like an assault rifle.

Attached: 1555640156776.png (480x800, 604K)

desu i liked the enhanced edition at first. it looked and felt very traditional. then with all the patches they changed the entire hud, and it looks awful.

>tfw Dark Alliance 3 to finish the story cliffhanger never fucking ever
Fuck Atari and WotC.

Turn based preferably. Works way better for multiplayer and I want to play it with my friends.

Ill probably be happy either way.

If you mean the black hud that's not part of the patches, it's from Siege of Dragonspear and you have only yourself to blame for installing it.

dragon's dogma but baldur's gate would be the dream

real time with pause so we get the boomer version

Watch it be turn based and have no classes again
I'd be surprised if Larian could make a game that isn't shallow as a puddle

nice to know thanks again!

Yeah, I did the same. My archer just trounced everyone especially when using magic arrows.

Of course I had no opinion on a game I had never payed. Now, I'm of the opinion that it's a great game that looks great on my crt. Any game worth being remastered is probably pretty good on its own and worth checking out.

>Play BG1
>Its another narrow switchbacks full of traps dungeon

Attached: absolutely haram.jpg (544x468, 59K)

>walks through them like the madlad I am

Are you saying BG2 has less of this?
Encouraging for me if true.

Far less
Enjoy the final dungeon of BG1, user.

BG1 is the only one that cancerous in terms of traps and badly designed dungeon layouts with extremely narrow paths that the pathfinding just can't handle.

I always put my tankiest character to just walk through them and set them all of while my healer goes in tow and heals if needed, much faster than actually disarming.

No absolutely play the originals

freegogpcgames.com/162/baldurs-gate-the-original-saga/

they are great saga's that everyone should try at least once vanilla, also thank god it feels like hours since I've seen Imoen lvl up now she can actually use the boatload of scrolls that I've found

what use are the bandit scalps?

Attached: Finally I can make the thief a mage.png (640x480, 404K)

Using traps yourself in Baldur's Gate is pretty fun and also funny.

Imbeciles like you are doing everything in your power to turn off new people from trying the games out because you damn well know that original BG1 aged like fucking milk and is borderline unplayable without six gorillion mods.

What was your best ever roll?

I made a 92 18/84 once

Probably something similar, I don't really like rolling over and over. Next time I play this I'm just gonna go for whatever the first roll is.

I'm about to play for the first time
Should I start with BG1 or BG2?

96 18/53 but it was on a Paladin so it was halfway cheating.
I don't get the point of rolling for hours when character editors exist if you want crazy stats.

Man that's going to hurt if you say roll a mage with a 8 in int and a 15 in chr

97 on a paladin. Though, on a paladin it is easier to get high.

>Should I start with the first or second game in a series with character import

Attached: le smug anita.gif (256x234, 2.67M)

I might still shift the stats a bit but not the total roll
It depends on what comes up

>claims to have made a crazy 1/100,000 roll
>I don't get the point of rolling for hours
uh huh

>Beat BG1, and love it.
>Try to play DivOS 2, and drop it.
>Try to play Pillars, and drop it.
>Try to play Kingmaker, and drop it.
>Try to play BG2, and it's fucking great and I can't wait to play more.

Some new rpgs are alright, but they still don't hold a candle to the oldies.

>1/100,000
>On a Paladin

Best I ever got on a Paladin was like 89 18/90s

what the fuck, go roll for 2 minutes right now

Looks comfy, user. enjoy.

Yeah, just to further be confused I decided to roll real quick and got a 91 in less than 30 seconds

Attached: 91pal.png (231x50, 19K)

Literally just got this, user.
It took seconds

Attached: 20190616005909_1.jpg (1920x1080, 276K)

I managed to finish the slog that were pathfinder and Poe but I dropped both OS games. I don't have high hopes for bg3

I'm not debating against it, i'm calling him out on his bullshit because 89 best is silly.
Decided to reroll a few times. 94 in less than 2 minutes after this post.

Attached: 94pal.png (244x51, 20K)

Yeah, Paladin is basically easy mode for quick good rolls

Attached: 20190616010338_1.jpg (1920x1080, 272K)

do you get better roles based on your class?

Ye
cleric/ranger is stupid easy to get high rolls on as well

Class with high minimum stats like Paladin or ranger usually roll higher

Yes, some roles have higher minimum stats which = better rolls

huh, I did not know that

If you don't meet a minimum, and a class requires it, it automatically gets bumped up to the minimum stat.
Paladin has high requirements, such as needing 17 Charisma, so they get a lot of low rolls cancelled out.

Interesting, I never knew that. Learned some shit today.

What's the hardest class to roll optimally?

Like lowest minimums but highest number of stats you'd want at 18

Wait for the remake onto PS4 later this year.

Ah, my hound, this city be the great world of commerce! Perhaps we can sell Jaheira?

Bard too

I think it is mage

>I don't see what you mean about puzzles
That game is absolutely full of puzzles, and ridiculous ones. Like find five hard to see buttons on random walls and push them in the right order puzzles. To end the game this is what you do in order: more button finding, put statues on pedastles, navigate a step on buttons maze, get through a lever switch lava door puzzle, get through a button stepping to open certain doors labrynth, navigate a memory maze where you have to figure out that you need to burn a certain body to get a key, and I'm sure the hint that told you to do that was hidden in some random book off on cluttered a table somewhere. Then you get to do the last boss fights. The final part of the game is not combat heavy at all.

A fighter you plan to dual to druid maybe

Fighter/Mage/Cleric
Or just Fighter/Mage to if you plan on casting Wish on that character, otherwise only mage with high wisdom is Aerie anyway who is also a multiclass
If you want high charisma without the ring, you want all stats at 18, otherwise it's your only dump stat

And they better not pull that shit with bg3

Attached: BB26DEEB-D2E3-48B3-A8C5-8BD33E48C7D0.jpg (450x301, 35K)

probably some mulitclass like fighter/mage

Nah, mage is easy since you don't even need to consider exceptional strength

I don't consider exceptional strength in the first place because tome

But I will correct myself and saw that he said ''optimally'' so I would agree that it is indeed a fighter/mage that plans on using wish

If you're rolling any sort of fighter you want at least 18/50+ since you don't get that tome very early.

103 on a paladin

What's so great about Wish anyway?

I'm fine

lol congrats
you had a statistical higher chance of winning an actual lottery than getting that roll
you wasted all of your luck my lad

One of the possible choices you can get from is timestop and improved alacrity at the same time, last double
Makes it as if your party had rested, enabling them to cast all the spells again
Casts improved haste on all your party members
Those are the only ones I remember atm, but yeah it's insanely strong. You can loop the first two to kill non time stop immune enemies without them even moving

Well shit.

>Makes it as if your party had rested, enabling them to cast all the spells again
don't forget about them sweet hlas that are restored too, can just spam your fighters' greater whirlwind 24/7

Not true, they changed some of Viconia's banter.

>not just quaffing a potion of absorption and dancing on the head of a pin while everything dies around you

No, they are doing everything in their power to prevent "developers" from earning money they shouldn't have earned. It's thanks to people like him that shitdog didn't get rights to develop BG3.

downloading bg2ee 2.5 atm, i'm gonna try to force myself to get used to the EE so that i can have an easier time modding. atm i have a folder with like 10 versions of scs and some other mods, i figured out that v29 of scs is the last one that works on v1.3 of the EE games. but the new ascension versions don't play nice with that version of SCS so you have to go back to use an old version of ascension too, it's just a headfuck, i wish beamdog never touched the damn games. whatever, pirating 2.5 now i'll use either the EE tool or that bigworldsetup thing and try to have it install everything nicely for me and see how i go. i've mastered bg1, beaten it on insane with SCS, but bg2 i'm still a scrub, my mage chess leaves much to be desired, i couldn't tell you the name of any 7 or 8 level spells, i just don't remember that much about bg2 from being a kid. excited to get my shit pushed in by liches again

Attached: bgmap.jpg (984x1441, 608K)

proof? i don't think this is true, they didn't touch any dialogue, if they had they would have started with the belt of transphobia

Why not just use BGT with originals or Easytutu? It supports weidu mods like advanced arrow, gem and scroll stacking or level limit removal too.

Have fun user

these won't end up breaking my saves will they?

Attached: Lvl Fixer.png (993x545, 370K)

originals w/ widescreen mod look too small on my monitor, i like the zoom feature of the EE

89k? That is probably pre totsc. Unless you are playing vanilla bg I wouldn't use that

What's a great of portrait mod for companions? They look like fucking garbage.

Man remember when Razor1911 was a modder instead of a scene cracker?

i haven't used that site in a while, for ee's i use gibberlings3.github.io/Documentation/readmes/readme-cdtweaks.html this mod has a bunch of small options, one of which is xp cap removal

I didn't even know ranger had high minimum stats

13 str, 13 Dex, 14 con and 14 wis

montaron was already dead and so nobody cared

I cannot be controlled

Ranger Minimums are:
STR: 13
DEX: 13
CON: 14
INT: 3
WIS: 14
CHA: 3
Minimum possible roll: 60 Optimal Roll: 86+ Maximum Possible Roll: 108

Compare that to a Fighter/Mage
STR: 9
DEX: 3
CON: 3
INT: 9
WIS: 3
CHA: 3
Minimum possible roll: 33 Optimal Roll: 93+

Yea Forums BG/IWD/PST/Infinity Engine threads are always pure cancer of completely uneducated morons that think they are the hottest, smartest shit around
I wish all of you would drop dead, in fact I fucking hate this fucking place

Who killed your cleric user it was a wild black bear wasn't it

minimums are 75 for every class in bg

This
We should all go to your blog to discuss it

He just tried to bait a few replies to keep the thread going cause it was going to die I'm guessing.

What class should I play for my first no reload run?

So where are the better threads?

Attached: Icewn000.png (1920x1080, 2.14M)

Barbarian.
What class should I play for my "I just lost my fucking endgame save that I was planning to import to BG2 and need to replay the whole fucking game again" run?

>ywn rape lilura
Why live?

why are there so many bg threads lately

because 3 was announced and everyone's playing through it again/for the first time in anticipation of it

A game that may or may not resemble BG I & II was announced after being handed over to the guys who did Divinity

>Accidentally wear cursed belt.
>Turn into woman..
>user tells me to go to first inn, there's healer right in next room.
>Remember he's right and go there to remove curse.
>It costs 500g to remove curse.

fuckin noob

Just accept your role as Xzar and Monty's cock sleeve, user.

Funniest part is if you have npc project mod some male companions start hitting on you
And continue even after you remove the curse
This happened to me with Ajantis at least

I bet your peepee was hard all that time too

I told them to fuck off after they gave me free potion. I also cured the curse, hopefully this 500g won't set me back by too much

Attached: 1541157460362.png (1205x1011, 1.35M)

Enjoy your new body slut
Also there's a diamond hidden in a tree in the area where you find xzar and monty if you need the money

nice chainmail

pls no bulli!

Hijacking. What's a good class for a run through the original campaign in neverwinter nights?

>Fighter
Well I hope you are ready for your character to peak at around level 10 in 2.

Are you roleplaying as a dark elf?

Cleric, druid

Probably anything with cleric spells.
That main campaign is basically "Oops all undead"

>playing BG first time
>got to level 3 or so on most of my characters
>finally able to kill most shit I come across
Feeling it. Working it.

Attached: 1296533315251.jpg (525x481, 25K)

500g? that's 1 bandit scalp

I'm around the same but I feel like I'm cheesing every encounter.

It's weird how Aerie was taught by Quayle, very different personalities

How so? Most of the time I can just auto-attack shit to death but i've had to buff up on a few to win.

sorcerers.net/Games/BG2/SpellsReference/Stuff/Cheese.htm

The Hero's Guide to A Successful Adventure
Version 1.3 Febuary 15, 2003

old guide about different ways to cheese the game. cheese is part of baldur's gate just embrace it don't feel bad. you can always do challenge runs on insane with mods if you want to prove yourself. first time through just beat the game

you're a dork

Thak-o or thak-zero?

you're an odd fellow

Thac Null

I think you can have a very brief conversation that goes "hey I remember you didn't I kill you?"

They will know who you are but you don't have any choice on it. I'm certain Viconia refers to how you saved her from Flaming Fist before

To all the zoomers out there:

Only the attractive females amongst your generation have value since men like me will get to do sexual things to them. Many of the rest of you exist to provide others with fresh organs.

taco
the h is silent

tohitarmorclasszero
you say it super fast all at once

meant for I blame autism

I barely made it down to the bottom of the mines and now I don't have the slightest chance against the Undead summoning asshole. What did I do wrong? Leveling up in this game takes ages. Also, are 5 people parties recommended or too much?

thak-o

SO I KICKED HIM IN THE HEAD UNTIL HE WAS DEAD HAHA

What level are you and what is your party? You can play 6 people party just fine. Those summons are weak IIRC, you can just have a tank handle them while rest of your party attacks Mulahey, IIRC name of the guy you're talking about
Use cleric and mage buffs and debuffs

low level mages and clerics are trash
use crowd control spells if you have any at early levels

>How so?
Here is an example. I feel very cheesy doing shit like this. Is this normal? Or is this an inordinate amount of cheese?

Attached: Baldur_2019_06_16_03_14_11_893.webm (1384x1080, 2.67M)

You're doing Durlag's Tower at level 3?

is this durlags tower?

>to survive a no-reload run you simply HAVE to know which enemies cast spells like hold person and terror and metagame prepare a counter just before walking into them

Defend this

Is this wrong?

a no-reload game implies that you have mastery and meta-knowledge of the game

>no-reload run

You are right, I can't defend this.

It's an end game dungeon m'lad. You should be doing it when your party is about level 7s

Well, that definitely is cheesing.

Attached: 1526917781037.jpg (1484x2158, 1007K)

It's of course cheesing but it's alright, stop looking for validation for how you play the game my man

If you skip the companions in 1 you'll miss quite a bit of 'who the fuck are tehse people' in 2. In 1 they ALL steer you into locations of interest and have some interactions between each other and npcs. Like the first 5 people you meet direct you all to the first quest in the game, the next 1 directs you to the 7th along the way in a rather interesting rescue the girl sidequest AND you find the person who wants to murder them along the way(character 8!)

Really though, MOST of the companions show up along the way to aid you on the current leg of the journey or to offer you a small sidequest and have some cool interactions with each other sometimes.

There are some choices that carry over especially in the tutorial.

Oh.. I just figured I'd explore around a bit on my way to Nashkal. Oops.

What's wrong with Fighter? Also what about Paladin?

Don't worry about it.
You think most anons here didn't do the same thing on their first playthrough of Baldur's Gate 1/2?

Nothing, it's just kinda boring and limited but pretty efficient. Should have picked a kit though

Does anyone know what's happened to my BG2? I've run into a problem where I'm at Bodhi's Lair and can't go down to finish the job. I know I've killed all her vampires but the door refuses to open.

Attached: thumb_apu-apustaja-_3-9312696.png (200x162, 11K)

I also stumbled upon Durlag's Tower early first time I played it. I ran away instantly when I came across my first basilisk though, I'm surprised he actually continued

Also, as an FYI, I am running it modded, but this has never happened before

>. I know I've killed all her vampires
Did you stake them?

I wasn't really looking for validation I honestly didn't know if I'm playing it right or not. It went from mindbogglingly easy to punishing in the span of a map or two. I was getting my ass kicked when I first showed up and I figured this was the first real test of my skills, they didn't seem unwinnably hard like I wasn't supposed to be there since my dudes were still doing decent damage and nothing was like a OHK so I figured it was my tactics that needed adjustment, then the only tactics that seemed to work felt like inordinate levels of cheese so I didn't know.

I guess I know why now, but I went in blind having never really played much of the W side of the RPG spectrum.

I see, well I got party members to try out other things even if limited by their own builds. Also what do you mean by picking a kit?

Have you staked their coffins?

Not much wrong but you should have picked a kit

Yeah, cleansed the pool and staked all the coffins, the door just isn't opening

If there's somewhere I can upload my save game to for you guys to have a look at it, I'd gladly do so

They were tough but I had a scroll or wand of fireball and in conjunction with some other spells I was able to pull it off. I also converted everyone to ranged weapons save my main dude since I found it easier to mitigate damage that way.

Assuming it's your screenshot you're playing the EE so when you picked fighter you had the choice between normal, berserker, kensai or wizard slayer.

You don't have to do that it's probably one of the rare bugs that still exist. If you have the cheats you can just teleport there, no?
Something similar happened to me a while ago. The djinni in Irenicus' Dungeon wasn't there, when I went to Nalia's keep there was a room full of that Djinni. Apparently a bug that has existed for a long ass time

that's pretty standard for me, line of sight is broken in the game, it's hard to not abuse it. as long as you're having fun. some people play like purists and do everything fair and square but i don't

there's no 'wrong' but you should probably come back, that dungeon is lategame stuff, you probably want to be around lvl with some gear

lvl 6-7*

How would I use the cheats? I'm just a little hesitant to muck around with it as I've got so many mods and the last thing I want to do is screw my game up.

>If there's somewhere I can upload my save game
anonfile.com/

Isn't there some helmed horror on the way too?

baldurdash.org/buglist.html

try the 'Inaccessible Bodhi Lair Fix' link on that page. read the description, read the readme of the file

Many thanks frens, I'll be sure to do both

>Want to be a holy fighter
>Paladins suck dick since they can't get grandmaster proficiency like fighters, and garbage divine casting capabilities
>Fighter/cleric has to be a dick ass elf, can't get fighter-levle proficiency, has to use shitty cleric weapons
Fuck my ass

Wait are you using EEs or not? In EE there is a teleport menu that allows you to teleport to all areas in the game but I don't think that exist in vanilla bg2

then play fighter into cleric you fucking dumbass

Did you zoomers never played BG1 before the expansion was released?
You aren't meant to visit any of the TotSC dungeons until after you reached the Undercity.

>inquisitor
>garbage divine casting capabilities
Inquisitors singlehandedly break all difficulty/tactical mods with no effort.

I am using EE, haven't seen any teleport menu though

assuming this is for the same bug you have, you can try entering in

CLUAConsole: SetGlobal("FindLassal", "AR0801", 0)

i think you press CTRL+SHIFT+C to open up the chat log thing to let you paste that in. give it a shot

paladins and fighter/clerics are both cool idk what you're talkin about, you overestimate the important of 5point proficiencies

I've never tried dual classing dick cunt

I wouldn't know if I could still use 2h swords as a cleric

Paladins are not that bad desu. Better saves than other classes, protection from evil and healing ability from start and at end game armor of faith
That is not even talking about their overpowered kits

forums.beamdog.com/discussion/61900/how-to-enable-the-console-in-bgee-sod-bg2ee-in-version-2-0-and-later/p1

Go for it and it'll work out
Last year I started it, but dropped a bit after the Friendly Arm Inn due to the same reason. But I tried playing not too long ago, kept going and found it plays just fine. In fact I might like the engine more than Neverwinter Night's, as in Baldur's Gate you can order everyone, and you get a much larger party too.
One problem is that low level D&D is really bad, but that doesn't last long. Get the OP ring around the Friendly Arm, it's a lifesaver

They still have the cleric weapon restrictions.
A dual-classed Fighter->Druid can use all weapons tough.

>mods the game to make grandmastery worth it
>can't mod the game to allow multi-class grandmastery/more weapons for clerics/human multiclassing

I'll be looking over the links and things that you've all helpfully mentioned but here's my save game just in case any of you are curious to have a look yourselves: anonfile.com/i93e20vfna/BALDUR_SAV

They are restricted to druid weapons

go dual warhammers, there's an excellent warhammer available early in bg1, and bg2 one of the best weapons in the game is a warhammer. or you can go warhammer/shield and be a bit tankier. for fighter/cleric

>shitty cleric weapons
Bruv
flail of the ages is regarded as one of if not THE best weapon

>can't mod the game to allow multi-class grandmastery/more weapons for clerics/human multiclassing
You can

>tfw never finished a baldurs gate, planescape torment, temple of elemental evil, neverwinter nights
>tfw only finished icewind dale1 and 2

>want to beat BG1 for the first time
>can't decide which class to go with
Any recommendations on a good class for a first time player? So far I've made a Berserker (with plans to dual class into mage) a Sorcerer and a Blade. I'm more worried about what'll be the most fun than the most cheesy.

Attached: tavern.jpg (2669x1500, 2.35M)

I thought that restricrtion only applies to multi-classed Fighter/Druids but not dual-classed ones.
The exact equipment limitations of the varios multi- and dual-class combos are sadly not listed in the manual.

github.com/Gibberlings3/Tweaks-Anthology

this mod lets you do both

gibberlings3.github.io/Documentation/readmes/readme-cdtweaks.html

Inquisitors and Cavaliers are really good though
Inquisitors make any mage encounter fucking nice and easy (which are the hardest)
and with the Cavalier you eventually get high damage resistance especially with armor of faith, magic resistance, saving throws. All the good shit.
I agree with you that the spells are ''eh'' but armor of faith is pretty much all you need anyway imo for yourself

Blades are fun

if you're gonna take the character through the series to throne of bhaal i recommend assassin, i find it very fun. the poison weapon ability is very strong from level 1, and lategame they can 1 shot tough enemies with 7x backstab damage

That's just standard operations
Shiiiieeet, I ran through the game with a thief. Running in hasted, backstabbing and then running away to hide again was my bread and butter.

Sadly the creatures worth backstabbing with a x7 modifier are immune

This always pisses me of honestly, they went out of their way to make a play style not viable after a while

Attached: 89297b9a83ee3f26aa755d9b967538.jpg (1686x2375, 3.36M)

Well, thanks to the anons, I've managed to find a shallow end to the problem by just teleporting myself into the room via the console commands, but if you are still interested in looking at it, my .SAV file is still up and you're more than welcome to crack it. Many thanks frens

Attached: 1529234434700.png (720x644, 31K)

I only played a little bit of BG1 and I'm surprised I saw so much of the map

I reached the carnival at the bottom (with the tents) which means I saw like 10 out of the 40 or so maps in the picture

I had seen none of the story and barely got any levels and I got tired of entering buildings/tents/whatevers and getting instantly killed by something dumb like hold person

A few years ago I replayed BG1. Tried to go the canonical route with hiw the game and novel was written. Named my character Abel and all that shit, treated Jaheira like garbage. Fighter was a biring class though. Since it was a Tutu run, I went Kensai.

It is braindead but the damage is hilarious. In early game until you get some bracers, survivability is eh but later on you deal a shitload of damage.

That is one of the problems with 2ed and 3rd edition dnd. Classes that have prevision damage start to suck the higher level that you are. Pathfinder has a lot of problems but at least they made a very small amount of creatures immune to such damage sources.

Fuck off, shitter. I’d slit her fucking throat if it was possible ingame.

D&D 5E has gotten rid of this entirely, sneak attack works everywhere

>the troubles
Mickniggers fuck off

But I assume multipliers are lower?

>every joke or a piece of comedy is a "meme"
Stick to Fortnite you degenerate fucking zoomer.

I doubt it's him, seems like the mods purged his ass last thread

It starts 1d6 at first level and gets +1d6 at 3rd, 5th etc

Much easier to activate too, all you need is either advantage or some ally next to the opponent.

Not him, but I know nothing about 5E except that if the question is
>Is _____ lower?
The answer is always yes.

Does 5E still do the no armor if you want to cast spells thing?

I always hated that. I want to be a final boss by the end.

Attached: Armor wizard.jpg (688x1000, 163K)

Original GOG versions are 100% playable. Get fucked degenerate Beamdog tranny.

Is Monk good and fun?
Also are 18/18/18/8/18/8 good stats for monk?

No casting spells in armor you are not proficient in.
There are many classes and subclasses that can cast spells while wearing armor.

The Bard is a full caster and has proficiency with Medium Armor (up to Half-Plate) with some of his subclasses.
You can always upgrade to the next armor tier with a feat, so even a Wizard could wear Heavy Armor if he spends 3 whole feats in it (absolutely not worth it)

It's completely useless in BG1. I believe it becomes useful halfway during BG2 and then becomes a god during ToB. I actually played monk a few times but can't remember how exactly they were in mid BG2, it's been a while

epic, simply epic

Attached: ss (2019-06-14 at 09.11.33).jpg (749x210, 44K)

I played Monk in first Nevewinter nights main campaign. Seemed good there with a shitload of attacks per round. And unlike the pnp version in the game you actually hit.

Is there more to the gameplay than just click on the enemy and that's it? I feel like I'm missing something.

Not really

Not in early levels

Gameplay of every video game ever made is "click on enemies", ADHD zoom-zoom.

If you're played 1, it's a really slow burn since you gain more and more options as you progress through BOTH games.
You can really improve your chances by learning positioning, having an "opening" (i.e. having your mage nuke a group of enemies before letting the melee fighters wade in), downing potions, etc.

t. just finished 2 for the first time, so I'm no expert.

>466656027
glad to hear, sometimes that's just what you have to do, bg is mysterious

BG1 companions were designed to be replaceable for the meat grinder, so they don’t really have that much personality. You can get a read on the “canon” party in the opening dungeon of 2.
If you go solo on 2, you miss out on quite a lot of quests and decent banter moments.

its click on enemies and use your mage spells

Once per day after that it's click on the enemy too.

>(absolutely not worth it)

You mean totally worth it for evil overlords

Attached: Amano_Exdeath_2.jpg (665x1000, 144K)

you rest after you run out of spells

What a shame.

I guess that's why it's a feature seemingly exclusive to main antagonists.

Attached: 1454800729162.webm (720x404, 2.59M)

In early levels you will likely be doing a lot of kiting to stop those wolves from eating you alive.

Midlevels you throw around oneshot spells

Lategame you are buffing up and stuffing the screen with summoned decoys

That's not an overlord that's a persian carpet shop

You are clearly a danger to the general community. By the gods. I think I’m stupider for talking to you. Stupider? More Stupid? Get them out of my sight, all of them! They may all have this disease of the mind

Sleeping more than once per 24 ingame hours feels like disgusting munchkin behavoir. Not something you would do if you care about role-playing in role-playing game.

>once per day
>he rolled cuckzard instead of chad sorcerer
Embarassing

Going to make party in BG2:

What I am into?

baldurs gate is a strategy combat game

you have no mages except jan who isn't great
you should have at least two

Yikes

When you're a final boss tier wizard changing the material composition of something is such a petty matter.

Isn't Viconia half-mage? Well, I guess I can excange Minsk for Edwin.

No Imoen?

I usually play BG2 with Imoen as my only arcarne caster. They require too much micro unless you want to abuse the pause button.

>They require too much micro
what else are you going to be microing? your non-casters can play on autopilot
mages ARE the game, they're the most powerful and most tactical class

If you cared about role playing you wouldn't play Baldur's Gate

>Viconia
>wizard
Why are you asking retarded questions that can easily be answered by a first result in a google search

It has basically no non-combat systems
combat is the gameplay in baldurs gate
if you're playing it pretending you're in an RPG you're deeply confused

Don't be silly.
That's a tree.

She is annoying and not interesting. And I don't have her yet anyway.
for (you)

Mage are boring as shit
>lower Mr
>lower save
>dispel protection
>can finally start using killing spells
Fuck off, 5 melee and a haste/breach machine is all you need

>a haste/breach machine
yes, a mage
and you seem to be forgetting all the flat damage spells that dont require setups

Nobody plays CRPGs for their mechanical gameplay, retard, because those kind of games barely have any. You do it for the exploration, story, quests, roleplaying, dialogues and collecting loot. That's the actual "gameplay", not pressing space and picking the same 4 spells every fight.

the gameplay in Baldurs Gate is the combat system, and gearing your characters I guess
you seem to be thinking of Fallout
there is no roleplaying in Baldurs Gate

You type like a mongoloid and your arguments are the same.

My arguments are correct and posting the qualities of other games that aren't Baldurs Gate that you consider to be in the same genre doesn't change anything

Don't bother, he's one of those faggot larping in a game with pretty much zero reactivity

>only mechanical gameplay is gameplay
>also there is no roleplaying in BG i.e. there's no choices to do stuff or talk differently according to your allignment ir general mindset, leading to vastly different outcomes
As I said, you're a mongoloid m8.

>>only mechanical gameplay is gameplay
what does that even mean? gameplay is systems and mechanics

>there's no choices to do stuff or talk differently according to your allignment ir general mindset, leading to vastly different outcomes
There aren't. No quests change significantly based on your choices. The biggest choices in the game are siding with bodhi or the shadow thieves, or skipping the shark cave. None of which have anything to do with the character you've built

No u mongolid

archive.org/details/Baldurs_Gate_II_Shadow_of_Amn_Manual/page/n17

anyone still got their BG2 manual? i bought a dumb box version with tob included and never had the really nice big blue manual but my friend had it

I have the Baldurs Gate 2 manual duct-taped to the bottom of my chair because one of the wheels fell off and it was the only thing thick enough to replace it

well you've clearly demonstrated your intelligence

It is a good party user. Ignore others. You have a strong frontline with Korgan who is a beast and Minsc, despite being a ranger is better up front and personal. Jan is the best thief you can get after Yoshimo and is hilarious. Jaheira and Viconia are more than enough as far as spellcasting goes. You are lacking in arcane magic but divine spells are strong as shit too.

>divine spells are strong as shit too.
lol

Matbe would rethink having Viconia and Keldorn in the same party. They dont work well together. You can keep them from ripping each other up but it depends. In one of my playthroughs I had them together and Chadorn critted her heretic ass in two.

Thanks mate. Arcane magic is critical to walkthrough?
That's why I consider Jan as a second choice. He is also a thief, and I don't have one now. Joshimo seem like not a reliable person so.

Real time with pause with an option for turn based like the previous games.

Fuck I hated Dragons Eye and the troll rape.

It is strong. Very much so and the bullshit you can pull off with it breaks the game. But no class is necessary to finish the game.

Squad based third person action RPG (think Mass Effect or Dragon Age: Liquidation)

BG3 should be Dragon's Dogma 2

In DA:I you still have control over your companions though, ME isn't like that

fuck no

fuck yes

fuck no

fuck yes

fuck me

fuck no
fuck you

fuck yes

Fuck all of you

Wow nice, I'm actually playing this right now. I missed it in the golden era, was too busy playing all kinds of FPS with my dad.
Less THAC0 is better, right?
I can't seem to find any punishment for wearing heavy armor, is there any?

You can't cast arcane spells or do thievery in heavy armor, other than that no
Also why is Kagain your leader?

>Also why is Kagain your leader?
I can't find a way to move him to the front to tank
For dialogue I switch to my charisma boy

You'd have to find a way to control the other members of your party with more granularity. Only being able to control your main guy would be a massive reduction in the player's role.

I'm not really sure more complex ai is the answer either. You'd want a way to pause and swap between all the characters and set up orders or something. It'd be really difficult and a mess to implement.

If you can wear it wear it, but if you're like a Multiclass Fighter/Mage or Fighter/Thief you're going to have to remove it before you can cast spells or use your skills.

With multiplayer co-op in it I assume they design encounters with multiple player controlled characters anyway

What if BG3 is like Skyrim but with companions.

buy my game

>multiplayer co-op
That's just sidestepping the problem, most people play these games singleplayer and having to rely on every player to have five friends ready to spend 80 hours playing the game together is probably asking too much.

Usually the rants.

: For your information, a number of important sociological and psychological theorists have posited that stores exist in an intermediate space, neither private nor public in nature but combining elements of both. Displays in store windows, for instance, can best be viewed as mental constructs projected onto the public consciousness as a means of engendering mass conformity derived solely from the supposedly private domain of consumer choice...

(to Portalbendarwinden): Ok, I've just about had my FILL of riddle asking, quest assigning, insult throwing, pun hurling, hostage taking, iron mongering, smart arsed fools, freaks, and felons that continually test my will, mettle, strength, intelligence, and most of all, patience! If you've got a straight answer ANYWHERE in that bent little head of yours, I want to hear it pretty damn quick or I'm going to take a large blunt object roughly the size of Elminster AND his hat, and stuff it lengthwise into a crevice of your being so seldom seen that even the denizens of the nine hells themselves wouldn't touch it with a twenty-foot rusty halberd! Have I MADE myself CLEAR?!

I would help you, but I can't figure out how to change formation in the EE version. Thank UI 'improvements'!

That looks pretty good

Based Portalbendarwinden

Fucking brainlet, try opening your eyes.

Why should I bother with learning a shittier, convoluted 'enhanced' version of a shitty convoluted interface?

You are a fucking brainlet, it is right there in front of you. If you can't figure out the UI in the EE you should kys. It even tells you what everythinh is if you hover over it.

>2014
>never finished
>never released
sads

>requiring more clicks to get to what you want
>improvement
Yeah, no.

>click attack icon
>click on Jaheira
>wait until she dies
Wow, that was hard. You can turn her into stone and leave her in the underdark or some dungeon.

Is an evil playthrough much different than a good one in BG1?
I was wondering wether to play through the game again when I'm done with my first character or to jump to 2.

Less quests, less gold, no one wants to talk to you, everyone wants to kill you.

Fucking hell, Viconia was disgraced?
How do I romance her now?
I have to romance Aerie then, but she is dumb as hell.

Oh, man, that fucking npc mod. It seemed like a good idea at the beginning and turned into a complete clusterfuck by the end. Going from hardly knowing each other to planning your last days together in a span of one adventure.
>be ready to kill the villain
>A-user, I wanted to talk to you about something. I really love you and would die for you!
>not interested
>That's k, I'll go make out with a bard then thnx, bye :^)

Is importing a Character from BG1 into IWD a good idea?

I kinda want to go on an epic quest between BG1 and BG2.

Sounds fun and full of EXP, albeit more difficult.

start playing cleric/ranger

Attached: ss.png (857x713, 419K)

You do know that the spell-list bug has been fixed in EE, right?

yes

Why not fighter/cleric then?

because I like rangers and they start with 2 into two-weapon style

>full of EXP
Yeah, not really

You can easily reverse it though

It's weird in unmodded game most talkative couples are Eldoth, Skie and Garrick, Alora and Edwin, Tiax and Quayle, etc. I wonder how many people had them together without looking up for it
I think when I played the game without mods, only interaction I had was Coran with that woman and Jaheira and Khalid talked about his tongue once

>Reversing the only good change the EE brought

I'm just saying.
I don't play the class so I don't give a shit

nerfed c/r

everyone here is a millennial

I'm 41 and decidedly not a millennial

There are plenty zoomers here already. Everyone below 25 is a zoomer.

okay
okay

Holy fuck I'm feeling second hand embarrassment just from reading these posts
>Unironically using the boomer/zoomer for non-humorous purposes

Unironically displaying your age alongside your Patrician™ Yea Forums Approved™ tastes puts you in the same league as the preteens that think they were born in the wrong generation because they prefer music from a different decade than the one they grew up in

Original game or enhanced edition? Either way, I'm pirating.

Original if you want the authentic experience and don't mind spending an hour modding.

EE if you just want to install and play.

>those 3d cutscenes aged like milk. It's an amazing contrast compared to the 2d backgrounds which can still look good today
Both are pre-rendered CG by the same artists. Like them or hate them, they're about on par.

Character importing barely does anything in BG, you imbecile. And BG2 is absolutely 100% fine if you haven't played BD1. You can play theg ames in any order or skip either, it's barely important.

EE has some exclusive mods like auto rollers and no fog of war.

Last time I tried the EE version of BGT it was a total mess, I'll stick with normal BG until BGTEE is fixed and then I might migrate over.

Bg is truly the greatest

BGTEE will always require SoD.

Robe of vecna is as powerful as it is super shit looking. Great power requires great sacrifice

I don't find SoD all that offensive.

Man pure divine caster are so fucking shit

Their kits seem decent to me
