There are too many games in the second half of the year. We've got Cadence now and Mario Maker in a week, but there was nothing between now and Smash in December.
I just don't have any urge to buy or play Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild. I don't foresee myself wanting to play Breath of the Wild 2. As far as I am concerned, those are the only console-worthy games Nintendo has released.
However, the most pressing problem is that I can turn on my Playstation 4 Pro console, open the disc-case for my copy of Monster Hunter World, remove said disc, and insert into my Playstation 4 to enjoy it. While I'm doing this, and waiting for the preliminary loading of Monster Hunter World to progress, I will walk across my room, which also exists as the penthouse for a luxury skyscraper, and turn on my original Playstation 4, itself attached to it's own TV. I'll then quickly do sixty press-ups and backwards somersault over to my Xbox One X, which is placed inside my full scale replica Pelican from the Halo series, and retrieve my copy of Monster Hunter World for the Xbox One, signed by Phil Spencer, and insert it into my Xbox One X, and wait for the loading to complete. While this is happening, I'll quickly rappel down the side of the skyscraper, of which I entirely own, and break into the olympic sized swimming pool which also houses my original Xbox One. I'll swim down to the very deepest depth of the pool, retrieve another copy of Monster Hunter World for the Xbox One, and insert it into the special water-safe disc-drive I had the good folks at Microsoft specially engineer just for me.

They decided to hold off on major releases for the first half and literally dump everything in Q3 and Q4 of this year.
No, there's just barely enough and they didn't even start putting anything out until halfway through the year. They've had literally fucking nothing but Yoshi all year up until Mario Maker. Animal Crossing got delayed well into next year. Can kind of cancel that out though since you forgot about Astral Chain.

Honestly, yes. There's so many games I want to play and they're all so expensive. I've also got a huge backlog across a number of systems but I still want to play most of these games at launch.

Impossible, the 3DS was easy to develop for because it wasn't a potent machine so people were okay with bad graphics that were easier to make, the Switch is more potent and people expect more of it, even it isn't as powerful as a PS4, plus the Vita was ded so there was no competition: if you wanted your game to be portable and sell, might as well put it on the 3DS, which is why it's library is so fucking big. The space the 3DS leaves open as it dies will be occupied by smartphone games, not the Nintendo Switch.
