>Download the original Doom IWADs and the recently released SIGIL episode
>Download the "Doom complete wadsmoosh" mod to combine all IWADs into one for ease of access

1 was released as shareware prior to any copies being sold to generate hype for the game.
Episode 4, came later in Ultimate Doom after Doom 2, in 1995.
At no point in time was the Cyberdemon the Final Boss of any official doom release. If you weren't a child or even alive at the time, you would know this.

Originally he used the armor from Knight days, an Angle simply gave him powers of strengh and speed to fuck the living shit out of Hell for an eternity. Later on, a demon, which is implied he betrayed hell (no more known) made a upgraded armor, which made him even stronger with every single kill.
Two things, you gotta realize how OP he already was because he capped the Titan you see in late game before he even got the armor. And if you wonder about UAC tech and alike on the thing its not far fetched to assume the scientists tried experimenting with it.
The strongest demon was the Titan, which is already fucking dead.

Dumb concept for a list. All mainline Doom games are worth playing for one reason or another. Doom 2016 may play more like Serious Sam/Painkiller, but it's still a decent fps in its own right.
I also don't think Doom 3 is bad even if it plays nothing like a traditional Doom game. It's nowhere near the top of my list of games I'd recommend, but I wouldn't turn people away from it.

I used to hate with a burning passion Doom 3 but for me, and I think for a lot of people which is why it's no longer as hated, is that I didn't want Doom as a series to simply be about imitating the trends. Action horror like Dead Space was popular, not quite survival horror, so we got Doom 3. CoD was popular so we almost got Call of Doom.
But now that D44M and Eternal have reestablished what the franchise is meant to be about, what the character of Doomguy is about, I can look back at Doom 3 as inoffensive at worst. Just the black sheep of the series when Carmack, the guy who always cared more about the engine than anything else, was in charge.

If MachineGames is capable of learning from both Wolfenstein and Doom, I can be at peace. But the fact that they not only didn't seem to improve with New Colossus but actually got worse, that's what worries me. D44M should've been their ticket in. I can see how they would've been scared in Old Blood and New Order to go full old school shooter instead of a modern hybrid but all they had to do was look at D44M to see that it works and people will embrace it.

Ancient Aliens, a megawad for Doom 2 came out around the same time, showed far more creativity and actual level design than anything present in Doom 4, which mainly consisted of corridoors funnelling the player into locked arenas.

Besides, there's nothing high octane about the first 20 minutes of the game. In the time it takes to complete roughly 3 levels of the original Doom, killing 100+ enemies, you have sat around doing fuck all as they give you the Half life treatment of locking progress down while they spout expositiory dialogue at you. First at the door, then when you pick up the helmet, then the elevator when you go up to the surface. Real "high octane" stuff

I also agree with the story segments being poorly implemented. Really irritating during replays. Nothing better than listening to the lanklet robot talk for hours while you look at some bullshit in his office.
But some amount of bullshit was going to find it's way in, and I think the bullshit that got in didn't ruin the game. I think that the movement and gunplay is exactly how 3D doom should work. Those two elements feeling good make me love the game. I'm sorry if some of the bullshit really wrecked your enjoyment.
