You’re not supposed to clear the military outpost you’re just supposed to get through alive. You’re just making your life difficult for no reason.
Plus the game doesn’t open up until you get past Garbage and you start doing missions for Freedom/Duty. And the game really gets into its own once you get to Red Forest. Once you’re there it’s got a great vibe of its own.
