The game's already a complete bloated mess. Game Freak will never be able to even ATTEMPT to have anything resembling game design with how much of a fucking disgusting bloated corpse their series has become. And I could do that because the files for them were still there in the games.

Sword and Shield will NOT have every Pokemon coded into the games, you flat-out cannot obtain them ever because the assets and files and whatnot for them are not in the fucking game. THIS is what people are pissed about, the games will literally not have all the Pokemon, ever.

When transitioning between generations starting in gen 6, pokemon were given a marker in their summary if they were transferred from a previous game. This marker prevented them from being used in ranked gameplay, thus the only way to use certain pokemon in ranked was to wait for gamefreak to distribute pokemon or raise entirely new ones until injecting technology developed.

Removing pokemon from the game does nothing to balance it beyond what could already be accomplished. If gamefreak doesnt want people to use certain pokemon, like the genies, all they have to do is not distribute them via mystery gift, restricting their competitive usage.

1. Conjecture. Megas are exceptionally strong because they're balanced around having only one. A Sableye evolution wouldn't be nearly as strong as Mega Sableye. They're also not permanent so you can ignore them if you don't like them, which is especially good for sidegrade megas like Garchomp.
