To be fair it's one of those games where you end up sinking a lot of time into it because the movement speed and combat is slow and the cutscenes drag on for too long. Then when you look back and think about what you actually accomplished during all those hours, you realise that almost all of it was completely uninteresting.

I would at least like to know why things are happening, even if the execution of the cutscenes is usually poor. There's no way to speed up the cutscenes (like you can with heart-to-heart conversations) since they're fully animated.

if you have ever played league of legends and pulled off an auto reset, that is literally the entire combat system. You stand still auto attacking shit and you can't even dodge most attacks.
its bottom of the barrel stat check combat and every fight plays the same. the cherry on top is that it has characters spewing more combat voicelines than FUCKING SONIC HEROES.

Also, different set of expectations: XS was supposed to be a "Final Fantasy killer" at the time, whereas XBC2 never had any such ambitions, being a gimped game with a short development time on top of a good chunk of Monolith Soft's staff being allocated to BotW.
